  1. Very sad to hear this type of news. Glad your grandkids were not part of this. Maybe some day these types of A**HOLES will actually be convicted of 1st degree murder and get the chair. That's nothing less than premeditated murder in my book. One DUI is to many, twice it's time for some serious jail time 3-5 years, No Probation or Time off for good behavior, third time, LIFE in Prison !!! These unfortunate riders would have not been killed had the system taken care of this jerk long ago.
  2. Wwwhhhaaattt aaa bbbuuummmpppyyy rrriiidddeee!
  3. An early attempt at a fishing weight but since it was made of wood it only floated so Atouk tossed it away in the lake. After millions of years under water you have a petrified piece of wood. Maybe now the dang thing will work?
  4. It could have been worse Lenny. Wish I could have made it this year, Maybe next year.
  5. Nothing ever brakes down when we are in our shops, usually only when we are in the middle of B.F.E. You're lucky stars were aligned with the Wal-Mart so close and the $80.00 spent on the new battery should hold you over for 2 to 3 years if you keep it on a trickle charger from time to time.
  6. Working OK here as well. Sorry to hear the old computer is starting to slow down. Kinda' like me, the older I get the slower I work :) :>0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhh-R7i92Cw
  7. Did a short ride yesterday afternoon and headed down the hill to our local Mel's Diner for their monthly Bike Night. About 25 bikes in all with a lot of older bikes showing up. Grate bunch of riders. Spent most of the evening talking about old bikes and us older riders
  8. Thought you lived closer to Birmingham Alabama than Birmingham England...kg? What up with dat? HAHAHAHA.
  9. Back about 20 years ago the wife and I decided to head toward the coast for a few days and off we went, without any real plans for where we were going or where we would bed down the nights we were out. The first night out we stopped at a quant little motel just outside of Gilroy CA. Checked into the room, pulled back the covers and what to our wondering eye's did appear??? A Used Condom! The wife was pissed to say the least. Went to the front desk where they were very surprised about the "condition" of that room and apologized over and over. They upgraded us to what they called a mini suite and when we got into that room it looked like someone had used the toilet. We just packed out stuff back into the car and as we drove out tossed the keys out somewhere toward there office. What a disgusting place! PS: I try to make plans ahead of time now whenever she travels with me...more for my safety
  10. I agree with Freebird! I pull a trailer when I take rides where I will be out more than a week and would never think of not making sure everyone around me is safe. When it comes to safety there is no difference between pulling a trailer behind a motorcycle than pulling a 40ft trailer with a pickup or semi, YOU are responsible for that trailer and what happens with it. The safety chain is there to protect others around you from possible injury or death should the trailer become disconnected. My Go-To trailer has 12" automotive wheels and tires with bearings that need to be maintained just like a bigger trailers do. I do not use bearing buddies on this trailer as I like to make sure the grease goes into the bearings and not just around the shaft. I also have an older Bushtec which uses sealed bearings. I replaced these this year since I am completely rebuilding this trailer from the ground up. If you are not willing to take responsibility of riding safely with a trailer sell it and pack less stuff next trip.
  11. Not much left, what a mess.
  12. Looking for a different kind of ride? You might want to look into getting this. http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/5188736009.html
  13. Eck, Fresh Ride-On should be like thickened water or thin pudding. Maybe you did get an old bad batch. Ride-On is water soluble and can be cleaned out, if the tire is dismounted, by simply hosing out the tire. One think I did find out is whatever the recommendation is for the tire size, ex: 9-13 ounces do not go below the minimum as the liquid only balancing (without wheel weights) will not be a good, thus my recommendation for doing both. The stuff does seem to work great on small punctures like nails, screws and such.
  14. Put Ride-On in the new tires before heading to venture west, the international, and Sturgis. I recommend having the tires balanced when you mount them then add the Ride-On that way you have the best of both worlds. My E-II rear and E-III front tires have about 8500 miles on them now and the ride is great. I would recommend adding to your tires.
  15. Thanks Bob, Hope all is well. I may be making a trip south this week and if I do will get in touch with you and maybe we can catch lunch.
  16. Oh yes Rodney, we got wet a couple of times. Once following the Utah/Wyoming border area and again in Nevada. The Nevada storm came down so fast and hard I had to stop under an overpass so the wind didn't blow me off the road.
  17. I've had occasions when I just didn't feel like getting out on the road so I just didn't. I really enjoy doing very long rides to just about anywhere but, riding around my area at times seems to get old quicker. Maybe because its the same roads over and over again but, I'm not by any stretch ready to stop riding so on and out I go every chance I get. You have to do what feels right for you Eck and if and when the feeling to ride again hits you go for it and, Ride Safe.
  18. Thought you would appreciate the flower in the middle of a puc
  19. Saddle Tramp, is this the part you are referring to? If so I will have these and other mirror stainless items available in a few weeks.
  20. As some of you know the rear shock on my 99-RSV started marking its territory in the middle of nowhere Kansas along HWY-50 while heading to the International. Still had air but no fluid so it was like riding a mad bull at times. To counter act the bucking motion I put 75-80 lbs of air in it filling it as much as possible to keep the shock rod extended and locking it somewhat into place until I could get to where I could find a replacement. The other options would have been using a tie down strap and that just didn't seem very wise to do. I got to St Charles, MO ok but didn't want to replace the shock with another stock unit so I called the guy at Hagon on Monday around 10am California time to inquire about maybe getting one of theirs. He asked me about my riding style, 1 or 2 up, do I pull a trailer, my weight, etc and suggested, because of my riding style, and my size too, ordering the more HD unit, ($516.00 w/shipping) as opposed to getting their mid-range unit for $440.00, I opted for the HD unit. He said he would preset the new shock for my style and that I could make adjustments to both the load and recovery of the shock later on to fit my exact needs if needed. He said he could get the new shock shipped out that same day but didn't think it would arrive at the hotel until possibly late Friday. Since I was headed to a friend's home in Knoxville TN right after the rally I had him ship the shock there. It shipped out of San Diego, CA and got to Knoxville in 4 days arriving Friday afternoon. Anyway after the rally I road from St Chuck to Knox with my bad shock pumped up and over the max so it was now like riding a hard tail but, all went well and made it there just fine. Got to my friends house Saturday afternoon and after the bike cooled off we pressure washed the underside of the RSV to get the oil and road grime off before working on it. We jacked the bike up to where the rear tire was just touching the floor then followed Mike's (EUSA-1) advise and took off the side passenger foot rests and covers for better access to the upper shock bolt. 20 minutes later the new shock was installed and the bike was off the jack...EASY Install. The Initial Results: The new shock got a good workout and some great real time road testing over the next 3 weeks. I left Knoxville with trailer in tow riding highways and side roads up to Michigan, then over to Sturgis. Our group rode around parts of the Blackhills area without the trailer. After Sturgis we rode up to Cody then over the Chief Joseph Hwy, up and over the Beartooth and back, thru Yellowstone, over the Teaton summit, up to Evanston, WY. From there I headed toward home riding across Utah and Nevada. This test ride was around 4500 miles and the shock worked great! Once I got home I did a little solo riding around the area (Sierra Mtn's) to get a better feel for more 1-up, no trailer riding. I must say the preset Hagon did for me is perfect for all of my riding. I would not change anything right now. The shock gives me a much better overall ride with improved handling at higher highway speeds and city speeds, better cornering, and great bump recovery. It did take a few hundred miles to get used to the difference in the ride, especially after riding a bucking bronco for nearly 700 miles, but I would highly recommend the Hagon when considering replacing your rear shock.
  21. It's a for sure California street thing Puc. Cool video! Proof that only in Calif will you find the nice hippie wantabees willing to share their stash. :)
  22. Since everyone is in such a giving mood I thought I might share my story. I just returned from a 7000 mile journey riding around the country and could use your help recovering some of my travel expenses. Even with the economy improving with fuel and overall costs at the lowest in years, my bank account took a hit this past month. As I prefer staying in motels that have hot running water and comfy beds and, eating meals prepared by others, my journey across this beautiful country cost me more than had I stayed in campgrounds, eating sandwiches, trail mix, and gas station potato chip handouts You will not see me standing at a corner with a sign asking for assistance since I don't like standing in the heat, nor will I approach you at a gas station asking for "gas money" or food to help my family as they are already a bit overweight and could use the time off from eating regular meals anyway. All I ask is if you have lots and lots of extra cash, the Donald Trump kind of cash, lying around and just have no idea what to do with it please send me a PM note and I will provide my bank account and routing number, (PayPal also accepted) so you don't even have to leave the security of your lovely homes. Thank you, Ride Safe, and May The Force Be With You.
  23. Thanks Puc, I did a 1-up as the wife does not ride, ever, never-ever...bummer! Pulled my small trailer, slept in motels, got hail and rain in Montana and in Utah but not in Sturgis as we were in Rapid City when the first storm hit. Still have lots of tread left on the E-2 rear and E-3 front...Best mileage I've ever gotten on the old 99. They have over 8000 miles on them and still have lots of riding left in them. Would have been great to catch up with you there but didn't get into RC until late afternoon and the others wanted to have a few beers and a good dinner. At least the beer was cold Only issue I had the entire trip was the passing light bolts working themselves loose a couple of times. With some help from Gary (vzuden) while at the International and lots of thread lock they are still on the bike. Going to put together a slide video as soon as I get some time but here are a few pictures from the second part of my ride. Will post a you tube link when the video is done.
