I fought A similar tiny il leak all last summer, changed all the gaskets on the left side of the motor installed new shift shaft seal, still had goofy little leak, then decided it had to be coming from higher up,replaced cam cover gasket on the front head, with the bolt seals, wow no more leak,it turns out that it was leaking from the cam cover gasket, running along the head, then down around the alternator cover, along the alternator wires and dripping off the kickstand switch.

I don`t think I would tighten those screws much more, the torque on them is 100 inch pounds, new gasket would probably be better than taking a chance on pulling the threads on the case. -
100%--I always wear it,the best argument I`ve ever seen is,stand in front of a concrete wall about 10 feet away, put your hands behind your back and run as fast as you can at the wall,do it with a helmet on and then without, end of argument--LOL.

We have a lot of deer here in North Idaho--but it`s the Moose that really bother me--they`re pretty much black and impossible to see in the dark,if you hit one you`re history, considering they weigh about 1500-2000 lbs--don`t like any animal around my bike .

That`s why I love Idaho,I can have any gun I want,if I get a tax stamp I can even get a machinegun,though I wouldn`t be able to afford to shoot it--LOL.

My son bought 200 rounds at Wallyworld for 37,95 about 2 days ago--that`s like 18-19 cents a round ,of course I live in Idaho-LOL.

Well lets reflect,I was riding home from a friends house going about 45mph on a curvy road, nice sunny day, when I came around a blind corner, and in the road were about 10 horses and their riders taking up 2 lanes,I hit the brakes HARD,both tires squealing, needless to say,it scared the poop out of me,I stopped about 10 feet from them, and the part that gets me is they didn`t even care, just walked their horses across the road, now in my opinion that was a pretty stupid thing to do,they had little kids with them and if I hadn`t been alert alot of people and horses would have gotten hurt or worse,so again be careful out there!!!!!

I get between 38 and 42 on my 92vr--it has 114,000 miles on it and has been the same since I bought it,I`ve never even had the carbs apart(knock on wood)-lol--I have balanced hem a couple of times though.

I had the same thing happen on my 92--carefully took switch apart and found the switch had stuck and melted the contacts, and the return spring got so hot it lost all it`s tension, found a spring that would work cleaned the contacts reassembled and it has been working ever since,as a precaution I installed a remote push button switch next to my air filter that I can reach through the gas door.

So sorry to hear this, may God be with you in this terrible time,Prayers sent to you and your Family !!!

several years ago,I had decided that I had had enough of guns and killing, after getting out of the Marine Corps,so one evening while at a store,I was confronted by 3 punks, who wanted a light and maybe my New bike,Hmmmm, what to do now, luckily a Security Guard witnessed the confrontation and called the Cops, everything turned out OK,but I then went out and got my CCW-and bought a gun, have been carrying ever since, most of the time I open carry now, just to many strange people around,I still believe that an armed society is a polite society,it`s to bad but that`s what all this Negative nonsense is doing to our Great Country.

A friend of mine had the same problem on his 83VR,he found a used part at the salvage yard, replaced it and problem was solved,by the way we changed the O-rings 3 times,to no avail. Good Luck -
I still visit once in a while, however the transformation from 1st to 2nd gen by Yamaha kind of put me off a little,I love reading some of the goofy stories (COWPUC) and there still is a lot of great information to be had on this site,I don`t think adding more models or brands would be beneficial,I joined this bunch of crazies because we all have something in common YAMAHA VENTURES-stay safe, ride alot,be happy.

I`ve been running Avon Cobras for about 10 years,I`ve always had really good luck with them, last year I was a little short on cash,so I ought a set of Continentals ,total crap in my opinion, only lasted about 6000 miles,so I went back to Avons. -
Bike swaying at speed

I`ve noticed that air pressure makes a huge difference on my 92vr,I run Avon Venoms and really like the tires,I started running 40psi--front and 42psi rear and haven`t had any of the twitchy feeling that I used to get running 32psi front and rear. Also I know that mismatched tires can cause some strange handling.
