  1. I have a buddy with a Valkyrie. We are planning to buy a Morgan over the winter. I sent him the links to "feel out" his guys on a Valkyrie forum. Seems like putting support behind you would be worth the wait for production. Nifty tool you have there, and yes, I have followed your progress from the other thread and found it fascinatingly above my head, even though I routinely build computers and servers and do a bit of php programming. Just took your survey, and I liked the questions that were asked. Looking forward to putting my name on the waiting list. Bob
  2. Puc, you never stop amazing. I knew 3 of those songs, thanks for the others. Corny as can be, but true americana. Sure put a smile on my face tonight. Well done, brother. Bob
  3. I can speak to this part, as my buddy and I have these. You each pair your own phone to your own headset. Either of you can play music from your own phone, and the other person can stop/start/fast forward/rewind the music from either phone. Example... I start a song from my phone and my buddy doesn't like it, he can skip it and go to the next. (this part sucks if you like what was playing, but you can always skip back until he gives up) One thing that took a little bit of figuring out was that you first have to start an intercom conversation and then start the music playing. The person who initiates the intercom conversation will be the one whose phone is used to play the music. Hope this helps, and let me know if it all makes sense. Bob
  4. Sorry Boss, I'm just confuzzled when I see y'all.
  5. But unless you are in "the know", how the heck can you tell them apart? I did a little research into my model year Venture VS Harley. Here's what I found. This is 2001. To me, a Harley is a Harley. I don't have time to care if the badge is upside down or at a 45 degree angle.
  6. That's the hardest thing to tell the wife. "Leave him alone, he's working FOR us" She never believes me.
  7. Puc, I read the beginning thinking you were setting us all up for a joke, which we all enjoy. Then you mentioned the Zithromax, and I knew that was not it. I wish you all the best, though I am not a religious man, but wish you a fast and easy recovery. Some like me that have yet to have the pleasure of meeting you are hoping for the same. I bet Tweeks spiked your iced tea with a little used 50 weight. Watch that old girl, she needs you as much as you need her. Your friend Bob
  8. DJ, My buddy and I bought the smh10's for the intercom and music sharing. The Sena is a great product, and until his helmet was stolen, we used it all the time. The only thing I can mention that directly relates to what you are looking at, is the Bell Mag 9 helmet. That is the one he had. The setup with the SMH10 was just as described, though you do have to buy a separate mount system for the Mag 9. No big deal and quite slick looking. The only downside I can tell you from experience is that I have a full face, and the Mag 9 is like a 3/4. He mentioned that he could not get the sound loud enough at cruising speed because of the wind noise inside the helmet. Perhaps the speakers were not placed perfectly, but that was one thing. The other is that from my point of view, the wind noise coming from the mic on the Mag 9 was at times unbearable. I could still understand what he was saying, but it was like he was talking through a leaf blower directly against my ear. At less then highway speeds, say 40-45, it was ok. He does have a windshield on the bike We never got the chance to try a thicker mic cover, but I wanted you to have a real world testimonial.
  9. I'm only 30 minutes east of you...keep that weirdness over there. Nevermind that, thought you were in Illinois.... whew
  10. I have noticed on my 2001 that anytime I lose the signals, cycling the hazards on and off fixes it.
  11. Would be fitting to finally meet Cowpuc in Wisconsin. Earlier this year, My wife and I were in a hotel that he could see from his house, but circumstances prevented the meeting. Much better to do it on bikes 90 some odd miles from either of our homes. Enjoy the ferry ride, Puc. I want some pictures of Olivia.
  12. By proud, I mean my chrome strip is away from the windshield, not "almost" touching like the other side. I am not talking about north/south movement. Again, all tabs are engaged (though there is a lot of play in them), and I did not take a mental snapshot of it before I took it apart to remember. And like etcswjoe said, not enough to see down into it.
  13. I see a blue faced one every time I cut the grass. Wife named him Spike. I try to walk around a while til he goes back in his hole. He usually looks up at me and says thanks for the warning.
  14. Split the fairing a couple weeks ago to get at a leaky fork seal. Putting it all back together again, the left side windshield chrome strip is proud of the windshield by a little over 1/8 inch. None of my tabs are broken and I took it off and put it on at least a half a dozen times. I figured it was just supposed to be like that.
  15. I can almost smell the air out there. Very nice video, thanks for posting.
  16. Here is the link to the Carbon_One braces. Well worth it. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3725&title=carbon-one-crash-bar-braces&cat=24
  17. Basically, 20% means GO RIDE... and look to the sky every now and then.
  18. I'm pissed as hell that I was 3 miles from you and got called back to work and never got to meet you. I will complete it one day, as soon as you come back home.
  19. Was just in Anamosa 2 weeks ago. I'm in Elgin, IL, and this sounds like fun. I can bring my RSV and a Wing, a Harley and a Valkyrie.
  20. If you're looking to take on a Harley owner, might I suggest a set of tools instead.
  21. 20 to 30 means you "might" encounter a "little bit"of rain. I had that 2 weekends ago. Leader on a wing with t-shirt and a vest. Second had a vest only. Third had a helmet and a t-shirt, and I brought up the rear ATGATT. Helmet, kevlar jeans, coat, gloves. We hit 3 different spots of rain and it made no difference to any of us. Nobody got really wet, and if we did, by the end of the ride, we were dry. Go out and ride in it, experience it and come out the other side better for having done it. Course, we were heading back home west to east and we out-ran that storm, for the most part.
  22. This is going to be a fun story to watch. I bought my first ever bike at age 43. A Suzuki Boulevard C50 a friend had left over after switching to a Honda Valkyrie. I put about 500 miles on that before trading it on a 2001 RSV. My second ever bike. That was 2 years ago, and I put 2500 miles on it last year ( weekend warrior ). So far this year, I have put over 1000 miles on it, and today was my first ride in the rain. I love this bike. Good on ya, Heather. Remember to always go at your own pace, it takes a while to be comfortable. Take it easy out there, and remember that you are invisible. When you see someone almost pull out in front of you, but stop, give em a wave and say thanks. Bob
  23. Wish I was you, that sounds like an awesome adventure. Be safe and have lots of fun.
