  1. Thanks Dave, We absolutely can do that, I may check their store in Guelph as well. Mike
  2. Ironmike, Thanks for the info, it will make the decision alot easier now. Have a good one. Mike
  3. I was in looking around at my favourite bike shop a week ago and happened to wander over and take a look at some chaps, on the display next to them were overpants........interesting they look like they would have alot more protection on them and the price was right. I tried a couple pairs on and they seemed ok, maybe a bit warm considering they were on over my jeans. Does anyone out there in Venturerider land wear these, if you do are they comfortable. I can't make up my mind whether to go the chaps route or the Overpants route, to make matters worse I remembered you can also get riding jeans. So confused, that has never happened before. Thanks
  4. They are a great looking bike, and lots of storage. I won't look at them anymore for fear of actually buying one and then coming home and trying to explain the purchase to the boss. But we can dream.
  5. Very sorry for your loss Bob, Tammie and I send our condolences to you and your family. Mike and Tammie
  6. Great memories, thanks Randy I guess alot of us have stories similar. For my first bike I had to wait until my Dad was in the hospital, he did not want me to get a bike at all. I had a neighbour go with me to look at a Kawi KZ400, bought and brought it home in my neighbours Van. Yup Dad was ticked, but he got over it, funny a few years later at work, he is waiting for Mom to come a get him, he walks into my little part of the warehouse where we worked and asks for the keys and my helmet to my Gold Wing. I guess he decided he had waited long enough and went home on my Gold Wing. Thanks again for sharing Randy. Mike
  7. Thanks for sharing, makes it almost feel like we are with ya. Enjoy. Mike
  8. Great story........you have made a real impression on one young guy. Good stuff
  9. Hi Wayne, I was at Clares in Fonthill getting an oil filter for the 250, and asked the parts guy if there was an after market passenger backrest that Yamaha had for the RSV, they have one listed, it is 3" higher then the stock one. For Tammie that means the top of the back rest pad is jut below her shoulder blades and offers more support. I had her sit on our bike and then I measured up from the top of the stock backrest so she would have an idea of where the new one would come up to. The backrest looks exactly like the one that your can get through Corbin. I don't have the part number for it but the cost was around 353.00 so it wasn't cheap. We do enough 2 up riding that it is probably worth it for me to take the plunge and order it, because what is that old saying "happy wife happy life"
  10. When we ride, Tammie does say there is more wind buffeting then there was on the 86, but on RSV she can at least look over my head rather then at the back of it like she had with the 86. Her main beef is the height of the passenger backrest on the trunk, that should be taken care of soon. I look over my windshield so I am sure that is part of the buffeting that she feels and I feel it as well as highway speeds, but I will put up with it as I don't want to or like to look through the windshield. Mike
  11. Geez you Kitchener Waterloo folks are wild ones aren't ya.:stirthepot:
  12. Wayne, Glad nothing but your pride is hurt, that will get better. nothing worse then the slow oh oh, I think we have all been there. Real question is was the ice cream still good. I remember cruising to that ice cream stop when I lived in Bramalea as a youngster, and a cruise to "Forks" was a great ride even back then. Glad you guys are ok. Mike
  13. Have a great trip Scott, I am sure you will have many stories to share from your adventure. Be Safe. Mike
  14. awesome....
  15. Thank you........I needed that. No I may just copy and spread the cheer. Thanks Mike
  16. Carl, Leave it alone, it is a scam, I have sold many items in the past few years on Kijiji and there are always a few of these responses. Don't go there, don't be surprised if after telling them no thank you, you get another response from them trying to get you to bite again. My way has always been if you want to buy it you can come and see it and bring the $$$$$ with ya. No money tranfers, No Paypal. My 2 cents Mike
  17. Puc Man oh man can you find some good stuff and they are all keepers. I am thinking it could be dangerous to ride to close to ya, I could end up giving ya some of the chrome of my RSV, and I like my chrome. Great find. Mike.
  18. Quick grab the jar of Apple Pie that fixes everything.
  19. Thanks Gary, I may check at the dealer and see, I know the Corbin one is still available. I will probably go that route in the future. Funny the back rest is the only thing that the boss liked better on our 86. Mike
  20. Nice let us know, I can see a set in the future for my RSV, if only there was a taller backrest for the passenger the world would be perfect.
  21. Those are some great pictures, looks like you are in real good area for riding. Mike.
  22. Well We did it , the pieces are out After some very heavy concentrating and looking over the situation again, it was time to lay out all the options at our disposal....... We could try the magnet or the double sided tape on a pointed stick (made me want to go in a watch some Monty Python), get some flypaper and try that. Thought of the gum on the stick but I had to chew on that one just a little bit longer. Or fill it with soap and watch the bubbles flow.......... I could always go and grab the vacuum and see just how well one of them Dysons really suck, or try the High Commanders idea of holding it over my head and shaking it. Then of course we could always go back to #5......... The suspense is killing ya I know I did what any smart husband would do.....I held it over my head and try to shake them out.........awww no, but I did use a hybrid kinda of idea, I held the tank so the peices were all in the corner by the hole for the gas cap......then got the tape and wrapped a couple of fingers in tape and stuck my fingers in there and tilted the tank so the pieces rolled to the tape.....Ta Da it worked So if anyone wants this to go into the technical librairies for future use I am ok with that, but it should have a name. The stick your finger in the hole and hope you get it all method......perfect.....but it is not to be used on electrical sockets and outlets. Thanks again to all for your suggestions. Mike :cool10::cool10:
  23. very nice work, time to start saving.
  24. What a tuff crowd........... no verdict yet. Too much rain last night, we don't have a garage so the bikes are all under covers, I didn't feel like working in the rain. Hopefully tonight. Tuff crowd......maybe the stuff in the tank is money money......probably not my daughter was checking in there on Monday.......maybe she put the stuff in the tank just to jerk around old dad. rotten kid. I do like the soap idea, clean out the tank and get to play with bubbles, like being a kid again. Mike.
  25. Nice bike....... but it sounds like an even better wife. Mike
