How to get loose pieces out of a gas tank
stickhandle2 replied to stickhandle2's topic in General Tech Talk
Kevin, thanks for the added info....the tank has been empty since Feb when I took it in to get repainted. No vapours no residue in it at all. -
Try some Vitamin E oil I used to use it on bad burns or if you have an Aloe Vera plant break off a piece and try the stuff inside on it.....sooths it right down.

I like your thinking Jeff, but the explosives would have been for the Virago that was being worked on the weekend before. The pieces are just rust I think. Kevin is there a preferred brand of chewing gum??? Thanks for the tips, much appreciated. Mike -
Sooo what your saying is your kinda ok about the colour, but really miss the cassette deck. Sounds like your having some fun there Carl, we all expect a complete review on Saturday. Mike.

Hi Folks, I am putting a 250 Marauder back together and getting it ready to sell, the tank has been painted and I have let the paint cure for the past month in our basement. Yesterday when I went to put the tank back on the bike, I noticed there were some loose pieces in it, I tried getting them to move around and fall out but to no avail. My next thing is I was going to try to flush them out using the hose and then let it dry. Any other hints. Thanks, Mike

you just don't mess with a guys ice cream. -
Agree with all......great point Puc, a cars wheels tell you so much. I am always scanning the intersection and as I am riding I am looking far ahead and also what is going on just ahead of you at the same time, always expecting a surprise. You have to be ready for anything, but one of the best things is find an empty parking lot and practice practice practice........get to know how your bike reacts in emergency stops, if you don't how to ride your bike slow while getting used to the friction zone and riding the back brake.....more practice... I am one of those guys that when I first saw the bright coats and helmets, I said what the heck was that person thinking.....son of a gun it worked, I noticed them. Anyway just my 2 cents. Mike

Who has gone bluetooth with their headset?
stickhandle2 replied to rickardracing's topic in Watering Hole
We have the uclear bluetooth, just for talking back and forth between ourselves. I like the fact that it doesn't have a boom mic, I even went and got the ear bud setup for when I have my shorty helmet on. I tried it on a ride with my daughter and the bike to bike communication was great, even better she could still understand me at highway speeds (100km/h). The mic for the shorty setup are up at the front of your helmet out of the wind, it is actually a pretty cool setup. Mike. -
Non Venture Tech Question --85 Virago 750 won't start --
stickhandle2 replied to stickhandle2's topic in General Tech Talk
Hi Neil, I was thinking the same thing and actually did do that, but nothing.......then I grabbed the old set of plugs and of course it started. My brother called it a "what the ......" moment, I still don't really have a clue what the heck is going on. We will see how things are once everything is back on and hooked up. Mike -

Funny you say that, yes I did flipped it back and forth a few times also have a virago my wife rides. it was getting really hard to start, looked like spark was okay. took carbs off cleaned put back on same problem. started with two new plugs, started first touch and runs like a charm again maybe worth a try cheers, Scott / Scott Have also thought about doing that, earlier in the season when it was running like a dog, changed plugs and oil, it ran like a champ until a few days ago, when i decided it was time for a cleaning and swap out the old boots. Right now trying everything Mike -

Thanks Carl. Tried spraying some starter fluid in the carbs but nothing, it was getting spark but maybe not enough. I will look at the connections for the coils and stator if I can trace it. Thanks, Mike -

Good point, the carbs were taken apart, diaphragm was removed, then the bowls were removed along with the floats, needle valve, main jet, main nozzle. I then cleaned these with carb cleaner by spraying them and all the holes in the carb, the loose valves and jets were also soaked in varsol. I then blew compressed air through the carb to further clean and also dry off all the parts. With there being 2 carbs I did one at a time so I wouldn't get any parts mixed up and had the manual with me in case I ran into a problem. -
Hi Folks, I decided today was the day I was going to pull the carbs on the 85 750 Virago our daughter rides, I had new carb boots for it as the old ones were cracking, and I also figured while the carbs were off I would give them a cleaning. Main reason for doing all this is the bike has been a little hard to start at times and figured with the weather being nice, today was as good a day as any. Long story not so short, I replaced the boots and cleaned the carbs and after re-installing them, the bike won't start, at least before it would always seem to want to start, but not now. I pulled the plugs and there is spark on both cylinders, there is fuel in the bowls, but when trying to start the bike it seems like it is starving for fuel. I have even pulled the carbs a second time to see if there was anything that I could see where I messed up but nothing at least to my untrained eyes. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike.

If your thinking going the bluetooth way, we picked up a set of uclear intercoms, no boom mic, so far ours have worked great, I even have a set of earbuds for when I am wearing the shorty helmet and I can talk and be heard while doing around 100km. For those of you that have ridden with me that is going fast for this guy.

Nice machine Carl, so I am guessing the official unveiling will be later this month. Congrats on the new wheels. Mike
