  1. I love the heal/toe setup on my second gen. I ride a lot in uniform and it saves a lot of damage to the tan boots. It's pretty funny how we can usually spot fellow riders when in uniform because most have dark black scuffs on the top of the left boot. Not me.
  2. Thinking about replacing stock exhaust with a pair of deep (but not deafening) ovals. Any recommendations; Baron Custom Ovals or LA Custom Ovals?
  3. I removed the cassette player to create a storage box. In short, I don't like the outcome. Worse yet, somehow along the way I screwed up the door and the thing won't stayed closed now. What I'd like to do is pull the whole thing and go with a three gauge instrument cluster instead. I found some pics of a kit that a member on this site put together, but I can't find anything from him in the classifieds. Since I already have the fairing torn apart and riding season is fast approaching, I'd like to get this done sooner than later. Anyone done this recently? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
  4. Good advice. Also, I'm a big fan of a similar holster with a thumb break; it makes the weapon a lot tougher to yank away. You have to be a lot more deliberate about drawing it from the holster.
  5. I've seen a lot of this at WalMart here in central Ohio. I think they are openly carrying in WalMart to protest something - just can't remember what it is.
  6. Sat on one yesterday at Iron Pony. That is one good looking bike. Wife fell in love with the saddle leather. I personally don't like the look of the engine. The unpolished look of the heads reminds me too much of cheap pig iron. I know it isn't, but it looks that way to me.
  7. +1 on the Garmin 660. Add a BuddyRich cable and you have the perfect setup.
  8. My neighbor picked up an FJR last summer. It's a great looking bike and runs like a scalded dog. When we ride the twisties together we have a deal: you go and I'll catch up with you later. I took a short ride on the bike and couldn't believe the acceleration of a bike that size. My only concern would be the riding position. By the end of the summer, he was talking about a mod that would move the bars up one inch and back one inch. That tells me that the stock riding position could use some work. Other than that, we've done a couple of long (4 day) rides and I haven't heard a bit of whining from him.
  9. The kids got me a nice pair of Bates motorcycle boots. Of course I had to go for a spin to try them out.
  10. 2007 Midnight RSV with 8,900 miles in 2012. Paid 10K for it.
  11. I use a Harbor Freight jack with a Carbon One lift adapter w/stand. What an awesome combination!
  12. Splitting the fairing, installing the Buddy Rich cable and removing the cassette player to make storage space. I may install an ignition relay also.
  13. Mind if I ask what kind of boot he was wearing?
  14. Anybody have a lead on one? Anyone else besides Buddy make them?
  15. Sorry to hear about your spill but I'm glad your both OK. Speed recovery and I hope you're back in the saddle soon.
  16. Was just there for the Army ten miler. I love that city!! Have a great time. You've earned it.
  17. You all were correct. The new windshield arrived yesterday and I installed it last night. I see over it with no problems at all. I was also impressed by how easily it installed. I'm looking forward to a temporary break in the weather here so I can test it on the road.
  18. Just ordered the tall convertible windshield and I'm not sure if I've made a mistake or not. I'm 5'9" (on a good day). When I mark the height of the 10.5 Baggershield on my existing OEM windshield, it appears that that top of that height will be right in the center of my field of view. Here's my question: Can you see through the smoked part of the Baggershield or is it opaque? If you the Baggershield, do you look through that portion of the windshield or do you have to look over it?
