SilvrT Posted April 17, 2015 Share #1 Posted April 17, 2015 Saw an ad for a 1985 Limited Edition ... is there such a thing?
Prairiehammer Posted April 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2015 Never heard or seen that from Yamaha concerning a First Gen, but sellers can be very inventive. Does he say what makes it a "Limited Edition"?
Flyinfool Posted April 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted April 17, 2015 Is every year not a "Limited Edition"? They only made so many of each year........ Creative advertising?
SilvrT Posted April 17, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted April 17, 2015 Does he say what makes it a "Limited Edition"? I sent an email asking for some form of proof ... doubt I'll get a response. When I re-did my '87 I got a chrome sticker for it which had "Limited Edition" on it so I guess something of the sort could fool a person who's not in the know. Brenner Posted April 18, 2015 Share #11 Posted April 18, 2015 More often than not the "Limited Edition" is limited to how many they can sell of that model. I have seen decals much like that in the aftermarket and am trying to remember what vendor had them. I know it has been a while but can't put my finger on it. This one might survive, since the link was brought up in the discussion as opposed to a dedicated thread for a classified???? Its borderline within the rules. But then what do I know? Squidley Posted April 20, 2015 Share #20 Posted April 20, 2015 In '85 they were between the MKI and the MKII as there was only 1 color...Brown. They may consider that a limited edition. Remember as well that the trunk was different for that year as it was the size of the MKII's and would detach.
friesman Posted April 20, 2015 Share #21 Posted April 20, 2015 yeah, my 85 was a limited edition too,.... it was limited to production between Jan1 1985 and Dec 31 1985 Brian
Freebird Posted April 20, 2015 Share #22 Posted April 20, 2015 This one might survive, since the link was brought up in the discussion as opposed to a dedicated thread for a classified???? Its borderline within the rules. But then what do I know? Yes, that is the difference. I'm scared to mention it because somebody will use that as an excuse to post another ad and say "hey...I just wanted to talk about it".
Yammer Dan Posted April 20, 2015 Share #23 Posted April 20, 2015 Shouldn't this be in the Jokes and Humor section? I think Tech Information. A lot of people buy newer and think they are getting better.....I have a Limited Edition.
