  9. I have a backrest that I believe will fit the 1st gen Venture...it's been laying around in my garage forever and I have no use for it. Just needs the bolts to attach the mount to the bike. Free to the first person that steps up to the plate. You pay the shipping. I am located in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.....you figure out the shipping to wherever you are. The box that it fits in in 19" long, 12" wide and 9 1/2 inches tall....I'm not a fisherman and don't have a scale so I cant even guess the weight. Willing to meet somewhere if not too far away.
  10. That's why @Marcarl got into the spider. He no longer has to remember, to put the kickstand down before stepping away from the bike.

  12. Did well over 200klms today! Went to Paris Ontario for motorcycle swap meet(wasn't worth the trip) then went to London Ontario to pickup a DVD (American Graffiti) I've been trying to get, then Princess Auto for a few things. Hopefully weather holds out and can ride to Fort Erie tomorrow for another swap meet!
  13. I have two 89's in good condition and as long as I am able I will continue to keep them running. If I do end up making a change I most likley will go to an adventure bike of sorts. Harleys are way out of my budget and besides I am not the type to pamper a bike anyway. As long as it is sound mechanically I am happy, prferrring to ride than polish. I never cared for how the gold wing handles and the shifter location just does not work well for my foot. IMHO the bike is more suited to small people with small feet.
  14. Get ahold of your factory fuel pump and replace the points in it. Check vent line from top of tank all the way down to the check valve all the way down to the bottom of the bike for blockage.
  15. ok, started year with old fuel pump, checked it to see if it was running, it was functioning correctly. went for ride, shortly after starting ride started starving for fuel, came home , changed fuel pump, put new one in, ran for bout 3 minutes n started starving for fuel again. checked to see if fuel pump was running, it was not. plugged old fuel pump in and ran fine when i turned the key on . changed plug back to new one and it was dead. d___ china fuel pumps just aren't worth the metal they are made out of. is there a good fuel pump out there that isn't $200 dollars?
  16. I still have one bed available in the cabin. Joe has claimed one again this year.

  18. Adventure bikes seem all the rage right now. I don't see me buying another bike but in any case my 29" inseam legs are too short for those. As soon as I can get my Ventures spruced up, I'll probably be selling them. Probably. I do exercise and can still handle them. The Kawasaki being lighter I hope to ride a while longer. With its 500lbs and 74 hp it's fun to ride around town.
  19. I owned an 83 750 Virago for a while. It was a good bike with about 50 hp. I didn't like the vibration on the road. A PO had put loud pipes on it and they were tolerable around town but on the highway they grew tiresome. The Magna being a V4 is much smoother and more powerful. I think the 1100s had cam issues. I test rode an 1100 Magna way back and it is fast as heck.
  20. I think a virago if tastefully done would make a bad ass bobber, I don’t know much about performance though. Let us know how the center stand job goes, that would be handy as hell on an RSV!
  21. Hey that’s the big thing! Good on you for getting down and doing it! I had a part time guy as a painter when I was Director of Maintenance and he would like to get down and replace faucets etc. I told him to leave that to us, he doesn’t have to get down like that. Those old guys never listen! He still climbs trees and stuff to help out his neighbors and make a little side cash, tough ol boy!
  22. I sold the '83 and '86 VRs but kept the 2006 RSV. I have a gen 1 center stand given to me by another forum member. One of these days I'll dig up the post that steps through installing it on the RSV, but I travel a lot with my job, so time is limited for the hobbies. I'm also looking for a project candidate for a bobbed short hopper. I'd like a rigid, pre '84 Sportster, but the Honda Magnas look nice bobbed. Maybe a Yamaha Virago?
  23. Yup sadly traveling state side is just not in the cards at the moment. Once the dealin,s done there will be some catching up to do for sure.
  24. I do think that dash is pretty cocky on the Eluder though!
