Impressive for sure. I am curious how his daily route looked like. His stamina appears to be second to none.

I changed the air filters and did a carb sync on the Venture today getting ready for a trip down the Natchez Trace tomorrow. While I had it sitting level, I checked the oil level, and it was dead center of the sight glass. And I have not seen any more oil on the under the bike. So MAYBE, I was wrong about the oil coming from the bike. It could have been some oily drippage from the washing we gave it. I'll keep a close watch one it and see how it goes.

Our store had 3 sets. I now have 3 sets, come down this way and get one, I’ll even pay for the coffee and donuts.

Just to be clear on this, the level in the sight glass is with the bike vertical, not leaning on the side stand. When I had my Venture and my Royal Star, I used a mechanics mirror with an extendable shaft, so I could see the sight glass while straddling the bike to hold it vertical. Alternately a 1-1/2" to 2" thick piece of wood under the side stand will hold it almost vertical, just be careful not to bump the bike or turn the handle bars, as it could cause the bike to fall over to the right side .

Oil level should be below the midpoint. If above that it was overfilled or gas is getting in the oil. Overfill equals mess due to oil expelled. Gas in oil can result in blown engine

That is a great price! Kobalt tools are top notch and if I am not mistaken, Lowes has a lifetime warranty on their tools. I have a similar tool set just like that from Sears. They are a must have, if working on the RSV and SVTC.

Good morning to all and Happy Sunday. Hope you guys are having a great weekend. Sunny on this end and will cut the grass this afternoon. Enjoy your day.
-
Glad you did not go without your riding partner. lol It could have been a bonus ride to and from today and another ride next week. When it comes to remembering important dates like that, I always input them on my iPhone calendar. I love the iPhone calendar and it has saved me and reminded me several times over the years. Not that I've mentioned that, I just might upgrade my iPhone 13 to the upcoming new iPhone 17 by the end of the year. With your 'honey to do' list, you just made it happen. We all know this...A Happy Wife means A Happy Life.

I have a Deka AGM on my bike which I purchased for $94.00 Mar 8 2013 and it is still going strong 12 years later.

It’s 9:30 am and I’m all dressed up and ready to ride to the Tomahawk Fall Ride in Tomahawk WI. I have to be there by noon and it’s almost a 2 hour ride. My riding partner is supposed to be here and he’s not. He is always on time or early so I’m thinking the worst. At 10 am I finally call him.. no answer! Then 5 minutes later he calls me back and I find out that the ride is next weekend!!! Now I’m doing honey do projects!😠😠😠😠

sleadhed started following Going to reseal my water pump:
-
So I noticed a spot the size of a 50 cent piece on the asphalt at work this week directly below the coolant drain hose. removed the side covers and coolant reservoir is well below the minimum. I know I have read posts on this forum of guys resealing their water pumps. I have sourced OEM parts $100+. So I guess I'll tackle this project in a couple of weeks. any thing I need to be looking for. hopefully the shaft will be in good condition. 70 RSV with 52K on the clock.

Good morning to all! Where is everybody this weekend? I may be able to ride over to the gym today. Ride safe.
-
Thank you Paul. I'll check the for gas. I did notice the oil level was at the top of the sight glass.
-
Still puzzling about the yellow oil patch. If you are in the habit of filling the oil up near the top of the sight glass it tends to blow out the crankcase and back into the air intake, then out the tubes. If there's more oil in the crankcase than you thought and it smells like gasoline you may have a stuck carb float letting gas into the engine and down into the crank. A lot of the guys on this site and the owners manual says to shut the petcock off between runs to avoid that problem. Hopefully that's not what you have going on.

I got a new lock nut and finished installing the shock this morning. I took it out to the Yamaha shop for a new rear tire, and it rode great. Going to take a ride down the Natchez Trace with my bro in law next week. I'll share a report on that ride when we got home.

Carburetor float valve seat seal

The parts are available from Yamaha still. Here is a link to a site I use all the time to purchase my Yamaha parts. https://www.partshark.com/oemparts/a/yam/50042b41f8700209bc78980a/carburetor The parts you are looking for are listed as item numbers 37-40, but I think that item 37 includes the other 3 but I am not sure.. If you dont order from this site least you will have the Yamaha part numbers to order from someplace else. I have not tried to replace these parts yet so I can not tell you how difficult it is but check out the tech pages and search for carburetor rebuild and you should find some other information there. Good luck Rick F.
