I posted yesterday about a fuel drip from my carbs. Today I went out to run the bike and possibly check out the fuel leak. The bike was running for a couple of minutes when all of a sudden I am getting antifreeze coming from everywhere. It is dripping from the upper and lower hoses as well as the petcock and from behind some of the covers as well as the breather assembly under the carbs. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

When I was taking my fuel tank off to replace my ignition switch I think I broke the outlet off of my fuel petcock valve. I had loosened and pulled the clamp back on the fuel line but then the line didn’t want to come off. I tugged and tugged and twisted and tugged some more until POP off it came. That’s the good news. The bad news is - stuck in the end of the hose was the brass connector. Since I am a relative yamaha newby I am supposing that I pulled the connector sleeve right out of the petcock. It probably isn’t supposed to do this - am I right? Is it broken? I just ordered a replacement petcock but I can cancel it if somebody will tell me that this is the way the Yamaha petcock disconnects from the fuel line! Thanks

i am at a loss, here. three months ago, i did the starter clutch repair. i put 3 gallons of gas and 1/2 can of sea foam in the tank, started it and let it idle for about 20 minutes.this morning i went out to the shed to start it a(first time i've been out there in 3 months), and my gas tank is empty!!!! could it be that the sea foam in that concentration, caused the petcock gasket to deteriorate? any other ideas as to WHY? just jt

Bike has been sitting for a while
Guest posted a topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have a 96 royal Star, it has been sitting for abut 2 years, I changed the oil and rad. fluid. Went over the bike, everything is tight and works properly. What else should I do? I noticed that my petcock is leaking, does anyone make an after market one for it? Thanks -
When I was taking my motorcycle training(to get cheaper insurance, back riding after 15 years of not) One task we had to do was accelerate to 60 km's/hr(about 40 mph) watch an instructor in front of you point left or right and you had to brake and avoid by turning the way he pointed... Sounds easy enough, except they also teach us to turn off our fuel petcock every time you leave the bike.. So I come back from a break, its my turn to do the test and halfway up to speed my bike bogs down......had to reach down quick and turn on the fuel while still trying to acheive that minimum speed for the test...I did it, but did not get up to a fast enough speed, I failed that test, was humiliated by "rookie riders", but I did pass the course...

Well, if you read this thread you know about the problems I was having with my 2nd Gen. Well I finally took it to the dealer, because I had some warranty work to be done on it anyway. I finally got them (after a call to Yamaha myself) to replace my warped brake rotor under warranty, and they replaced my fuel petcock. When taking the bike in, I kinda figured they'd assume all of my engine troubles could be traced back to the faulty petcock, and they did. They replaced it, changed out the plugs for me, cleaned and re-synced the carbs (they did say they were off a tad), and replaced a couple hoses that had crud in them from the petcock going bad. I got the bike back last Monday (a week ago) and it seemed to run much better. However, after riding it off and on all week, my problems are back. The engine seems to simply load up, like it's still getting too much gas. In fact, at times you can smell unburnt gas. I did find out that if I'm going down the road and it loads up on me and runs like garbage, if I shut the fuel off at the petcock (which now works properly) and let the thing almost die before turning the gas back on, the problems clear right up and it runs fine again. So it definitely seems like too much gas is the problem. Now what's causing the problems is another mystery. So, I'm going to call the service manager back today and talk to him about it, though I'm pretty sure what he's going to tell me... that my carbs need re-jetted. He told me when I picked it up that they did some kind of test with the exhaust and said it was running slightly rich, but not enough to effect the running of the engine. To be honest, I doubt they ever even took it for a ride further than around the parking lot. So now, if I take it in and they re-jet it, I'm sure that's out of my pocket, and still no guarantee it's going to fix my problem. Could that lead to smelling un-burnt gas? Maybe there is an issue with my choke, though looking over the exterior mechanisms of it, it appears to be in working order. So I don't know... Any thoughts?

While I sure hope I have at least another 60 days of riding, at some point I must face the inevitable. This will be my first winter with my 07 RSV. With other bikes in the past I have done everything from gas stabalizer, to battery removal. I have left petcock on, I have turned it off. I have filled the tank and I have emptied the tank. I have also done nothing. Now I have a bike I want to make absolute certain lives for 100k+ miles. What do other Northerners do with their RSV iover the winter?
