I got My 86 VR going Sat. that I bought 2 wks ago. It had no clutch, no foot brake, and ran rough, so without a test drive I bought what I thought was a cozy, feature laden touring bike (which it is). After some maint. and minor tuning I was able to take it out for a ride. Holy smokes! These have the heart of a muscle bike. The next day my 20 yr old son & his girl came by with his 02 HD softtail - very shiny, loud, and impressive -, and he asks "Hey gramps, ya wanna go for a burn?" Yah, I spose, heh heh. It looked sort of like a comical mismatch - black leather with a shiny chrome rumbling Harley, and grandma & grandpa on their quiet, not yet polished luxamobile. We took alot of rural back roads and several times at various speeds he tried to show ol gramps his tail lights. But the 86 ate him like an snack, big time. I told him that maybe he should take up shuffle board. Gary

I went to Harbor Freight, the other day, and picked up a Torque Wrench for work on my bike. The one I bought is a 1/2" drive - 20-150ft lb unit. If memory serves me correct, the torque for spark plugs is 12.5ft lb (or somewhere around that). I will make doubly sure, before I attempt to do any actual work, but I do know that their torque requirements are below the minimum range of what I bought. I will need to get another, but will have to go elsewhere - as I believe that HF only had the range-type that I bought. I would appreciate some info on just what I would need, in a torque wrench, which would serve all torquing requirements for my '83 VR.

Over the years I have let x amount of batteries go bad by leaving them hooked up but not riding enough. This last new battery I bought was to be different in that I bought a Battery Tender and left in on. So I went to start it up this weekend and sure enough it was dead. Furthermore the fluid level was low in most of the cells. Rather than buy a new battery once again, is there a product that can be added to the cells to bring this one back? I know from past experience just adding distilled water to the dry cells and charging typically does not work. Any suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.

I bought this at Sears but havn't used it yet. Saw another thread about where to place the jack and wonder if anyone is using this or do I have to purchase something else.

Thought I'd start a helpful thread on where to buy tires. It seems that prices are all over the board and if we can convince some retailer that there are 2000 members here that will buy on price we may have some results. Personally I don't mind if a retailer makes some money on what they sell, that way I know they will be there for service when I need it and will also be there when I need more stuff, but sometimes I see a ripoff happening and then it's time to put some competition into the mix. So when you post here, let us know where you bought your tires and for how much, including shipping or what ever else you paid. Bought 2 Avon Vemons A41 and A45 for $500.00 mounted and balanced, Brantford ON 2006

I just bought and received my Tour Master Caliber Pants. My first impressions are they're great. There are several pluses here. 1. Even though I have alarge waist they had a pair that fit and had legs short enough. I bought the 42-44 waist with 33 inch inseam. This means They don't drag on the ground like other brands I tried on at that waist size. 2. They have adjustable position knee armor. I was able to adjust the knee armor up a few inches and they are now positioned perfectly on my knees. Other brands that I tried the knee armor was around my ankles. 3. The zipper in the back for attaching the pants to your jacket matches up to my Mossi jacket. 4. With the thermal liners in there is no way I will be cold. 5. They are waterproof. I bought them from http://www.newenough.com for a steal plus free shipping! http://www.newenough.com/tour_master_caliber_pants_page.htm I'll report back after I actually get to ride with them. Next weekend we are doing a 900 mile trip and it may get real cold.

Hey folks, does anyone know of a kit that turns your rear turn signals into a combination tail light/turn signal? I own a '06 RSV. I have a friend who bought such a kit from HD, and it really looks great. T/Y!!

Hello, Just bought a 2007 RSTD and I love it. However maybe I should have bought the 2007 RSV cause I really want the Rider/Passenger Intercom and the CB system. Does anyone know of an aftermarket system that is seemless in that it looks great, works well and would be able to communicate with my fellow RSV riders. Thanks, PAUL

Ok, I now have 14 Leds on the 86. What I need to know is what size fuse should I put in the fuse holder to save them from blowing if there became a problem. Don't ask me what size {milliamps, amps or whatever} LEDs they are because I bought them from E-bay and they don't tell you nothing about them except the usual BS {Better, brighter}. But they do tell ya that they are 5mm LEDs {Yippee}!
