I recently bought a set of mufflers from an 87 XVZ 1300 and wanted to swap them onto my 83. When I tried to install I noticed the brackets on the mufflers are different but the muffler itself seems to be identical. What I'm wondering now is whether I could the change the rear peg brackets and replace them with passenger boards from an 87 to make this work or do I have to go the slice and dice route. I want to thank you all in advance, I'm still learning about the First Gens and you guys are an invaluable resource. Thank you.

I was looking at JCWhitney and found these highway boards http://www.jcwhitney.com/Floorboards/GP_2002565_N_111+10211+600014704_10111.jcw?currentRecordCount=12 the live chat lady claims that the horizontal mount for the bracket is due to bracket design??? That seems like a bunch of compost. Anybody seen these, use these or have an opinion on? And yes they be pricey!! I am looking to mount something like this on the vertical support for the engine guard since that would allow for better angling and will provide the requisite offset to clear the fairing and still be able to plant your feet. ('course cheaper would be nice) Thanks.

Want to pull my running boards and heel toe shifter and replace them with foot pegs and controls and three way adjustable highway boards that sit on the engine guard. (I saw Blackjack has some of the latter for those who know him) for my '83 royale. If you have some pegs/controls or know of someone who has them and wants to part with them, give me a shout. Thanks!

while in a semi dream state, this afternoon, i had a great idea. i;m gonna try to take my passenger floorboards, and re-manufacture parts of them to make "hi-way floor-pegs". i have seen "markland" boards, mounted on the crash bars, and i THINK, i can make passenger boards work the same way. it ain't like i'm EVER going to have a passenger, on purpose! lol has ANYONE ever done this, or seen it done? just jt

There have been many times here where somebody has had questions about the proper way to re-solder the class controller on the first gen or other soldering jobs. I ran across this pretty good page on how to properly re-solder connections on circuit boards. Hopefully it will help some of our members who have not done much soldering. http://www.streettech.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Reviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=68

Excuse me if the pic was discussed here before. I hope all is well and you were all safe riding this summer. I want test your knowledge and solve a puzzle for me by being the first member to identify this bike. This picture was posted several months ago on the H-D boards and was supposed to be a spy shot of the 09 electra glide. It looks metric to me and does not look like the final H-D that came out a few weeks ago. I just may not recognize Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha or Kawasaki features on a customer's modified bike, but I can't figure out what bike this is. Does anyone recognize this bike or could it be possibly be a spy shot of the long awaited new Kawasaki touring bike??? NOTES: Trunk looks a little like a Venture. Side bags not so much. The rider foot position on the passenger boards could be for comfort or could indicate bad engine heat like the Victory Vision. I do like the handlebar height and the height of the gauges at the top of the fairing. I don't see rear speakers however. http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/attachments/kawasaki-touring-sport-touring/21036d1215384436-voyager-replacment-hd-20tour-20prototype.jpg

Ok folks, I need a bit of help. I purchased a set of floorboards from a member here. Nice transaction. They will be arriving next week. I have searched and cannot find instructions for mounting. Also, I remember seeing a set that had a cross brace under the motor. His set was on his bike when he bought it. No cross brace on the bike. They look to be Venture Line boards. I sure could use a set of instructions. I am sure the parts will only line up one way so I can figure it out. Just want to find things like bolt length to make sure parts are correct. Attached are pics of the boards I am getting and the boards I saw on e-bay with the bar/brace. Pictures marked Left and Right are the items I purchased. JB

Well it was listening to that whine from the back of my bikes(td and venture) for 3 years now that caused me to take matters into my own hands. I know i should have done this long ago but , hey, my feet were happy! I asked several people to come up with a way to lower the boards for my wife to no avail so this is my answer. 2x2 3/16 angle cut 3 inches long . kuyrakan longhorns. 1/4 gal pipe cut for spacers. (see pics). Since I dont really have the facility to make these they were kinda labor intensive since most of it was with hand tools I was hoping one of you guys with a shop might be able to do them if any others wanted. We have rode on a 450 mile day so far and she loved them. Said she like to be able to change from the boards to the pegs. They do flip up neatly when not in use. The 3/16 angle does have a little flex but not more than the stock floorboard. Perhaps if i was doing it again i'd use 1/4 angle. Anyway the whine is completely gone from the rear of the bike now. All is right in the world now! Jack in Los Osos CA

I have noticed that driver floorboards seem to be rare. I have seen a couple bikes with them on. Every set on e-bay seems to go quick and high. What's up with this. I am not really wanting heel-to shifting, just the bit of room that the boards offer. J. B.

I finaly have found a set of floorboards for my '85 Royale, but they came without the bracket that mounts underneath linking them together and bolting to the frame. I would either like to find a bracket, or get the specs and measurements so I could fab my own. These boards are useless without a bracket. If anyone has one, or could send me a picture with measurements I would be a happy camper!!! Jack 1985 XVZ1200 Royale phinfan@chorus.net

While my wife Denise loves riding on the back of my 1st Gen she has one constant complaint: After about 50 miles her left foot falls asleep. At first I thought it was due to the position of my big riding boots on the left peg, forcing her to move her foot in an uncomfortable position on the back left board, but the same thing happens when I have my feet on the front highway boards. She usually wears a real comfortable pair of riding boots but the same problem appears when she is wearing high top sneakers. I inspected the rubber mounts of both rear boards and they seem appropriate. Has anybody heard a similar complaint or encountered a similar problem? Thanks in advance, Klaus
