  1. Which LED bulb did you use? I’m interested in changing mine too, but don’t think I will try to do anything as drastic as changing the entire headlight.
  2. Hi all. I don’t often add pictures to my posts, but it seems each time I do, it takes me a while to figure out how to do it. I just tried to do it again this morning, but it wouldn’t let me. I got to the part where it says to drag previously uploaded photos to this area to attach them. I tried dragging the picture I wanted to use over, but when I release the picture, it just pops back to where it came from. I imagine if I was doing this from a computer, it would be easier, but I am mainly using my IPad nowadays. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dale.
  3. In Edmonton, we are only a few hours away from the mountains, going through Jasper or Banff, heading west to BC. I have travelled those roads dozens of times, and while it has stunning scenery, it pails in comparison to the views from the top of Beartooth. I had never seen anything like that before...gorgeous!! Enjoy.
  4. Hi all. As we in Canada head towards legal marijuana this October, I was wondering how it has gone for those in States that have already legalized it. I personally have no problem with this new path Canada has taken. It seems to me that where marijuana is concerned, the "war on drugs" has been lost, and I don't think someone should have a criminal record for getting caught with a little weed. From the articles I have read, it seems to me to be a safer, less problematic substance than alcohol, and from a personal experience perspective when I was much, much younger, it seemed people at a party getting drunk would cause way more problems and get much more aggressive than those smoking a little Pot. I remember seeing a slogan on a hat years ago that said "Instant A-hole...just add alcohol ". How appropriate that can be. I think my only concern about this new legislation is keeping stoned people off the roads. Anyway, I am curious to hear your thoughts on the matter, in perticular, from those of you who live where it is already legal. Dale
  5. Although it's hard to officially commit to this for next year, I am certainly interested. We loved the last one you hosted. Thanks. Dale.

    New Ride

I was wondering when you were going to post this updated ride on here, Doug. I just noticed this morning. Is sure is a pretty machine. I look forward to our next coffee meeting so I can see it in person. Dale.
  7. As others have said, I too am very sorry for your loss. I can relate, as we lost our precious dog, Riley, in February, way way too early. I still think about her and miss her every day. These furry family members are so special to their owners, it is so hard to say goodbye. Dale.
  8. Excellent points, Joe. Maybe I will try the "co-rider" approach in hopes of my wife coming on more rides with me. Dale.
  9. We will miss you Rick. Keep in touch. Dale.
  10. As I write this, I look out the window and watch the snow fall.....yet again. I have usually been able to get my bike out mid April, so I do realize that there is an end in sight to this winter, but seeing those pictures makes me very envious. Thanks for posting those summer-like shots. I did indeed enjoy them. Dale.
  11. Wow, Tony, that is horrible!! I'm sure sorry for your loss. I know that no words can help ease the pain, but please know that we are thinking of you and your family in this most difficult time. Dale.
  12. I'm not too sure I agree with you on that one. I think if this occurred during the other incident, where he was being attacked with a pipe, I could understand, but to pull a gun out and shoot someone while they are sitting in their truck spraying the shooter with bug spray seems a bit of an overreaction to me. Of course we are not hearing all the facts, but after reading the news article and arrest report posted, fearing for his life seems like a bit of a stretch to me. I guess this is why there are courts. Hopefully all the facts will come out into the light and the correct verdict is met, whatever that might be. Dale
  13. Man, I wish I had an extra $30,000 kicking around. I want one! Oh well, maybe one day. Dale .
  14. What did you end up using? I would love to replace my antenna, as I really don't like the look of them. They look old school. I wouldn't bother with the cb antenna, since I never use the cb. Dale.
  15. That just might be the cutest dog on earth! Dale.
  16. A few years ago at a local charity ride, there was a guy set up in his trailer that was selling molded ear plugs that are custom fit to your ear. I had been using the foam ones until then, and decided to give a custom set a try. I love them! They fit great, block out all the wind noise and, strangely enough, I can hear my radio better when I am wearing them. When I first got my bike, I read a book about motorcycle touring, and the author mentioned wearing ear plugs to protect your hearing. He said it doesn't matter if you have a windshield and a full face helmet, the wind noise WILL damage your hearing. I couldn't help but notice, during my first Venture West trip to The Dallas, how many members had hearing aids. Perhaps from this very issue. I will make short rides without wearing my plugs, but do not go on the highway without them. Dale
  17. Glad to see you are having fun, Rick. Enjoy your travels and give Nina a hug for me. Dale.
  18. I can remember heading back from a "pie run" during Venture west in California a couple of years ago. The sun was down, and as we headed down the highway, back towards our accommodations, I could see a green glow coming from the road, underneath the bike in front of me. I wasn't sure what I was seeing, wondering if my eyes were playing tricks on me. When we finally got to our motel, there, in the parking lot was Ed, aka Zzyzx, on his beautiful LED accented '99 Venture. Wow, did that thing look awesome, with all those hidden LEDs creating a glow underneath. Good to hear from you, Ed. Dale.
  19. I honestly didn't know that there was a low fuel light. When I get to a certain low fuel level, my trip meter reading changes from the normal look to something like "F 000", and will start counting the mileage up with that F in front of it. I guess either mine doesn't work also, or I have never been low enough to trigger the actual light. Dale.

    Six more

Congrats, Rick! I hope it all goes great for you guys. Give Nina a hug for me. I look forward to seeing you guys when you come through our neck of the woods. Dale.
  21. Too much grief indeed, Mike. I am so very sorry for your losses. Life can be so cruel sometimes. Please hang in there and know that we are thinking of you. Dale.
  22. Here are a few pictures from the Awesome Deadwood area. 1: the fun but spooky Bullock Hotel. We spent 2 nights in this haunted mansion. 2: Wild Bill Hickock's grave site. 3: Needles Highway (?) one way tunnel. Very scenic. 4: Riding buddy, Doug (Divey) at Rushmore. 5: From left- Member Casey J (aka Tony), Doug and myself out for dinner after Tony showed us around the area. PS: Never trust that the waiter can competently take a decent picture. This one is quite blurry, rats.. We had a great time on this short trip. It was nice to see the sites the area has to offer, and to meet Tony, who was a great source of information about the area and an all around nice guy. Dale.
  23. Wow, what a coincidence. That would have been great to bump into you, Bob. Sorry we missed you. Dale.
  24. Awesome, thanks all. We will get some riding in tomorrow. Neither of us were to anxious to get back on the bikes today after two long days of riding. Apparently there is the possibility of a large storm tonight, with large hail, so we moved the bikes into the covered parkaide across the street. If it doesn't storm, great, but if it does,at least the bikes should be safe. Dale.
