the v-star 1300 is belt drive. at least i hope it is, i just put a chrome belt guard on it last week. i had an 1100 shaft drive. both great bikes.bill

just got back from my morning coffee and was at a major intersection.my light turns green and some clown drives right through the red light and almost nailed the guy in the opposing lane. i don't think he even new he was going through an intersection. wish there would have been a camera. they could have mailed him the photos with a big fine.i won't even take off on a green light anymore it's to dangerous.

the saddle bags are really small inside.don't know why yhey did'nt use the whole interior space. i was really down on belt drive and the v- twin but now that i have my v-star with the belt and v- twin, i am changing my mind. i would probably get one but with my legs i just can't handle the weight anymore.can't handle the price either. sure does look good. bill

was at my dealer today and saw one of the new victory touring bikes ,what ever it's called. it sure is one beautiful bike. i love it. very comfortable and well finished. was offered a demo ride, but had to pass. hate to drop one it would be the national debt. the one i liked was the ultra deluxe, $23,000. don't think i will be bringing one home in my life time. i like my v-star 1300 just fine. when i first saw the pictures i thought it looked nice ,but a bit far out. after i saw one in real it is awesome.

running red lights is rampant around here. many people killed in my area do to people running red lights. ive seen people hit passing gear and run a red light many times. it's funny when the lights are not working do to a storm and no electric, people stop like clockwork. go figure.

hey allan, you ain't gonna settle for just 98 hp. i think we could coax another 25 hp. out of it with a little tweaking. you know how i like to tweak them motors. trouble is i would have to do more work on m kaw. to keep up with you. bill

i follow the speed limit. speeders don't bother me as long as they don't invade my space. can't stand tailgators and people who run red lights. these two things are an obsession with me. i can't think of anything that gets to me more than those two things. when it comes to tailgating and running red lights i am the ultimate road rager. not even going to say what i would do if i would'nt go to jail for it.

i would have to say you are 100% correct. we were given a beautiful world to live in and look what we did to it in such a short period of time.from when i was young in the 50's it's gone down hill like a penny a day doubled.i think the fast lane was created by the credit card and computer age. oh well i had a great time in my life and did my best to save the world. think i'll go put some more chrome on my bike. -

i quit watching the news last year. it was beginning to really upset me. to old to worry about it. going to sit back and enjoy life and let the next generation have a ball. one big party out there. only problem is i can't join in ,i don't do drugs ,have illicit sex , dress like the devil, or any of the other neat fun things that go on, so i guess i will just enjoy my bikes and live a regular ole boring life. ole snarley -

ya know i've had to put up with idiots infringing on my rights my whole life, and after awhile it gets awful old. if you ask anyone who knows me i would do anything for anybody. i'm always curteous toward others, i abide by the law to the best of my abilities. would give any one the shirt off my back. fought for my country, and try to maintain a resonable facimile of whats right and wrong. i don't lie cheat or steal, in other words i try to be what i was put here to be, a good decent human being. i expect others to treat me with the same respect. thats not asking for alot. it just don't happen. people are to selfish, greedy, and self centered to worry about me when i'm out there riding my bike, or driving my car, or any where i go where everyone is in the fast lane,and it is getting worst everyday.i have worked hard my whole life to get my wife and i set where we could enjoy the golden years and the few good ones i have left are not going to be ruined by a bunch of derelects that don't care about anyone but theirself. now if people can't accept that i don't really care. bill

i can believe that. also a good deterent for tailgators. i hate tailgators.

thats right.and it gets two pictures one coming into the intersection and one of the rear as you leave.that way if you stop on the other side of the white line it won't count cuz they did'nt get 2 pictures which means you stopped.i sit at one of these lights every morning and have timed it and figured out how they work.it so happens the one i sit at has had several fatal accidents do to people running the light.i have had several close calls .i have no sympathy what so ever for people who break the law and infringe on my rights,and well being. there is no arguement here. most of the people i know who are against the cameras are the biggest offenders. any one running a red light knowingly, that kills someone should be tried for murder.plain and simple. snarley bill

i'm still 100% for the cameras at stoplights. first time should be a thousand dollar fine ,second time you lose your license for a year. every stoplight should have one. like to see alot more people get tickets .maybe some of the jerks that break the law and take mine and others life in there hands would slow down and drive instead of talking on the phone, eating,playing with the rug rats, and on and on and on. i'm tired of having to risk my life every time i get in my car or ride my bike,and no i don't break the law unless it is a very rare mistake.if i do and get caught i expect to get a ticket. i haven't had a ticket in 45 years.

i love them , i pay big brother to protect me ,and it makes me feel great when someone gets a ticket. i have this thing about some ahole sticking me to the front of his car and taking me down the road side ways because he thinks he's above the law. i know exactly how they work, and are timed. if you get a ticket you more than deserve it. i stopped at a stop light one morning and had plenty of time to do so ,and some self centered dickhead blew by me through the red light and lit up the intersection with flashes taking his pic.i thought about following him and telling him hey scmuck ya got a ticket. good for big brother. :clap2::clap2:snarley bill ps. good thing i ain't a cop. i'd meet my monthly qouta dailey.

always liked the xr series sportster . starting back with the flat head kr in the 50's. almost bought an xr1000 one time but could'nt afford it. been several copies of the xr750. tbey dominated flat track back in my era. than honda came along and it's history from there on.
