Spark plug removal
yamagrl replied to kapebretoner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This'll probably work. 2.00 +2.50 shipping. 18mm sparkplug wrench. I also use 3/8 extension with a universal joint adapter. Also, a piece of tubing works well to do most of the turning it in and out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kobalt-3-8-Drive-18mm-Spark-Plug-Socket-USA-23031-/330914026270?hash=item4d0c03531e:m:mVNtQYZxY5jDlwxA20xb0zQ -

We have the greatest luck with dish. Watch it on my tablet, phone, etc. Occasionally lose signal but I watch most things pre-recorded on the DVR anyhow (no commercials). I kind of boycott commercials on paid TV and the dvr allows me to skip them. Go Dish

... Had the same problem with those allen head screws on the slave. My allen bit slipped/stripped and would no longer bite. What I did is kinda squash the allen hole back in a little. I used a 12" long 3/8" extension as a sort of punch and held the male end firmly against the allen screw on the slave and gave it a couple of swift and firm whacks with a decent sized ball peen hammer. Just enough to to kind of reverse mushroom the allen hole. I did it enough that I actually had to tap the allen bit in with a hammer. My banging started out kind of gentle and became progressively more brisk. You have to whack it pretty smartly. I had previously discovered this tactic on my Vstar 1100. I then used my 1/2 inch drive hand impact reduced to 3/8ths, then to 1/4, then a 6" extension, then the adapter and allen bit... couple of brisk whack and... Viola...Came right out! -
help! Need help on bleeding clutch line
yamagrl replied to cruiserlover's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Condor's method is basically same way I did Big Red but with a bit of a twist... 1. I used a length of clear tubing and a 60 cc syringe and that I got from a feed and seed store. Sold for injecting livestock. You can also purchase a 200 cc extraction/fill device from Auto Zone for about 30 bucks but the livestock syringe is a lot cheaper. Maybe $2.00 2. Remove the bleed screw and very carefully apply Teflon tape to the threads of the bleed screw ONLY. This prevents sucking air through the threads. Do this carefully and methodically so that you don't get loose Teflon tape in the system. Reinstall the bleed screw. 3. Remove the line/banjo bolt at the clutch master cylinder and hang it into a plastic drink bottle. Coke is fine. 4. Next attach the hose/syringe to the bleed screw and force brake fluid through the hose and into the plastic drink bottle. It is very easy and there is little resistance going through the open line. Now it's bled and flushed all the way to the banjo bolt. 5. Once all of the air is out all of the way to the banjo bolt close the bleed screw and reattach the banjo bolt. 6. Now re-open the Bleed screw and force the fluid the rest of the way into the clutch master reservoir. Close the bleed screw. Voila! -
Removing a Broken Key
yamagrl replied to Patmac6075's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This, my friend is a "Key Extractor". It is what a locksmith would use to remove the key. The fishhook suggestion above would likely work. You might heat up a fish hook and straighten it out. One of the stainless steel ones might straighten easier. Use a fair sized one and pair of hemostats or needle-nose. Note the distance across the barbed area of the shaft is about 1/16 and the barb is about 1/8 long. You simply slide it in on the pin side of the key slot, give it a bit of a twist so as to grasp the key on one of the points and gently pull. -

If you are you referring to the the shims at the back of the middle gear that adjusts the backlash, there is a good demonstration on Damon Farraiuolo's video of the complete reassembly of the Vmax engine. He demonstrates the proper measuring of the backlash using a dial indicator. You can contact him here Damon_Ferraiuolo@msn.com Youtube clips of the video which you can purchase for $20 I found them to be very helpful.
