  1. My question is the cone. do you have to cut it off or is there and alternate way of removing it?
  2. You talk about removing the last muffler plate....the piece that dramatically tapers down at the back of the muffler? I am not looking for extreme loud just to give her a bit more bark. How would you go about removeing that. Just cut it off or does it seperate?
  3. I have heard of people gutting or straight piping their factory exhaust. How would you go about this? I.E. pulling the exhaust apart, gutting etc. and would you have to re-jet the carbs or no?
  4. I swapped the plug wire...No change. Then I swapped the Connectors for the coils....Change. That coil is good. So all my coils are good. Brand new iridium plugs. I cleaned the connections on the TCI with electrical cleaner and a wire brush. Where is my problem? I am hoping not the TCI.
  5. The carbs have been cleaned thoroughly. I checked spark and all but that one have spark. the plug is coming out with gas on it. The tank was drained and cleaned and it has premium in it now. I swapped the connections for the coil for the back right cylinder and it had spark for a few revs then quit.
  6. Alright I really want to thank all of you for your help. I have narrowed it down to my front right cylinder with no spark. Pulled the plug and it is as clean as when it went in. Where do I go from here

  8. What its the benefit to the NGK iridium over the NGK standard? Or is there even an advantage.
  9. Is there any advantage to using the iridium NGKs vs the standard NGKs
  10. What spark plugs are the best to use in an 83. If it matters the YICS has been disabled.
  11. It still idles alright....that jet still affects how it runs down the road????
  12. So I have gone thru and cleaned out all the carbs on my 83. Disabled the YICS system. Still not running right. If i turn the choke on going down the road it runs okay, if i shut it off it runs like crap. two of the cylinders are getting hot the other two are not. if i spray water on the exhaust on the two it burns right off the other two thee water just sits there. the plug cap and wires are brand new as well as brand new ngk plugs. where is my problem. is it just a matter of tune and sync or what?
  13. What size caps do I need. I would like to pick then up on my way Home. Do you by chance know the size of the E-clips for the throttle tie in rod and the choke tie in
  14. What all is involved in disabling the yics system
  15. Diaphragms are good. I need the jet block gasket and or o-ring. And cover seal
  16. Does anyone know where to get carb rebuild kits. I am having a hard time finding them. I called my local Yamaha dealers and they said it is to old. The only things on Ebay are full sets of used carbs. I an inn Grand Haven, Michigan.
  17. I am new to these venture bikes. I used to be big into the xs bikes. Plain and simple. But these venture bikes caught my eye and decided to buy one. I keep hearing about CLASS and YICS. What is it exactly. I am trying to get the bike running tip top. So far I have taken it up the road and man does it ride way better then my xs did. Much more comfortable. I think it handles better too.
  18. It has brand new ngk's and ngk wires with new caps
  19. Tire are new. thanks for the concern. it show people on this site really care. i will give the soak a try i appreciate it.
  20. just checked the spark and it is very week on the right side
  21. All the carbs have fuel coming out of the bottom drain.
  22. okay with the carbs exposed...when i spray carb clean down the left side it bogs down. the right side absolutely nothing. no change. i am going to test the fuel now
  23. Okay so I went and got the one slide free. no holes in the diaphragms. Still running the same. Back firing and the left side is not heating up. Ran a can of carb clean thru it already. not really much of a change
  24. so I just went out and did a little test. I sprayed carb clean around the carbs while running to check for a vacuum leak and found out if i hit the exhaust on the left side it burns right off and the right side it wont. thought this may help. Again any help would be greatly appreciated
  25. I just bought a 1983 xvz12 and it is not running very well. When you rev it up the front carb on the left side...the "piston looking thing" on the top (when air cleaner is removed) is not moving and the back carb is back firing when you rev it up. The right side seems okay. I was told it has been sitting since 89 but the last year he was driving to and from his MC club. and help would be greatly appreciated.
