  3. I see many from this site use the Rotella T oil, which by the way is a very good oil for the diesel engines. But I also saw where someone said don't use the energy conserving oils. The new jug of Rotella I bought from WalMart shows triple protection. It meets the requirement of SM, SL, and SJ. All of these requirements where mentioned not to use because they are the new energy conserving oils. Before I change oil in my NEW VRS (08) to replace the (04) VRS Midnight I high sided last fall, I wanted to check. It seems that this oil also will go by the wayside for us. Or can someone help, and tell us different??? I hope so, was going to start running the Rotella from now on but!!! Hope someone can shed some light on this. Many thanks rangerider Drive fast, but I quit taking chances!!!

  5. Well, after months of healing, (crashed Sept. 22, deer came out bout 11PM, missed deer, back brake locked, got sideways, and down we go. Seven ribs, collar bone, and sore shoulder). The insurance company wanted to total, but I thought I could fix her back up. (04 midnight, 23,000 miles). Just plastic, and front and rear guards right side. Had most of parts off once already, soooo. Well a letter from insurance company they will only put libility, sooo, damm it come get it!!!!!!! Fever hit once it left the driveway. Lots of looking, even on our classified ads, but none were real close, and there is still ice and snow in northern minnesota!!!! Any way buddy told me to call a dealer 150 miles away. Had a new 08, silver and charcoal. $13,000 plus tax and license. No miles 5 year warranty. And the chance to accessorise again!!! Used to drive fast and take chances!!!!!!!! Now I guess it's time to grow up and almost act my age, don't heal like I used too!!!!!!!!! Take care and happy motoring!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. I looked at modualtors, and have met several on the road. Although they stood out really well, the only way I knew what they were is because of sites like this. I can very well see how someone gets confused and doesn't know what to do. While doing some research for my midnite venture I found what they call a rainbow strobe, it is just a colored prism around your headlight bulb. It gives some color to your light, red, blue, and yellow if I remember corectly. Although it may not be noticed as much as a modulator, it still gets you noticed. Drive fast, take NO chances!!!!
  8. When the rear tire started getting close to the wear bars, it wanted to wobble, especially on groved roads, tracking I believe they call it. There were several posts on this problem with everyone blameing the front tire when it was actually the rear tire causeing the problem. The bike really got to wondering one day, and when I got home was sure something was loose. It turned out A chunck was out of the rear tire about 1 inch by 2 inches. Gotta love those brickstones!!!! Put Michelins on, but don't have any miles yet. But what a difference in handling. Almost had to learn over again, it was so responsive. Good luck finding your problem, but at least check out rear tire!!!! Drive fast, take chances!!!
  9. The lead shot should only be rolling in the tire at low speeds. Once you are moving the lead will find it's balance point and even out, therefore the tire is balanced at a higher speed. Granted the lead shot is smaller, softer, and not as abrasive as rocks and grinding powder, but after quite a few miles it would probably start to wear the inside of the tire. So that being said, just don't go SLOW!!!, go from stops to traveling speed as quickly as you can, and the same for stopping and there should never be a problem!! Like I've said before Drive fast, take chances!!!!
  10. Am new to the site today, but when I bought my RS venture it came with a backrest from utopia. After having had one that slide forward from the luggage rack, and one on a gold wing with the brackets on the side, cuts into backside on longer rides and rubs passengers knees. The utopia is not in the way of passanger, folds forward, adjusts up and down, and very easily forward and backward, nice when weather cold in morn, heavy jacket, and warm in afternoon, almost t-shirt weather. It lets you put more pressure on lower back, (bad back), and will enable you to ride longer with less fatigue. Starting to sound like salesman, of course I'm not but money spent on utopia is probably the best accessory you'll buy. Rangerider, from the cold of Northern Minn.
