  1. From Nashville TN to St Joseph Island ON Canada, 940 miles in 14 hours, slabbing it on a BMW R1200 GSA, boring but easy
  2. I use a Garmin 2730 Streetpilot with XM radio mostly in my car and I have a 2720 Streetpilot on my bikes, they are both excellent and now fairly low cost units, the 2720 cost $100 of Ebay. These units are designed for use on a motorcycle, the buttons are glove friendly and they are IP66 / 65 waterproof. I have recently bought a 2005 Venture and it is the first motorcycle I have owned with a sound system so I may try the 2730 with XM radio thru the aux input, also if you subscribe fro the service weather and traffic status is diplayed on the 2730. The only drawback is the Garmin map upgrade cost of $80 every few years, but considering the latest Garmin equivalent unit the 660 / 665 is around $700 the Streetpilot is still a good choice. http://roadminge.smugmug.com/Travel/Canada-or-bust-Long-Way-Up/IMG1360/337268621_gmXJv-XL.jpg
  3. I rode the CVO Ultra, Road King and Streetglide at Daytona Bike Week this year, Harley do a great demo ride system, I was really impressed with all of them, but I had rode 700 miles on my Road Star to get to Daytona, maybe my ass was biased. I love my Road Star but its not that comfortable for longer trips. So I returned from Daytona and was set on buying the Harley bagger and then I started to look at the Venture, it checked all of my boxes and I would not have to sell 4 of my bikes to justify buying the Harley. So I bought a mint 2005 Venture with 8K miles in liquid silver, slapped on some Avon tires, clean the carbs and now I am a happy camper

  5. I will take you up on your kind offer, I am thinking of buying a carbtune from the UK but wanted to try one first, my old mercury manometer has got lost somewhere in the basement
  6. My new to me 2005 Venture had been sitting for a few months before I bought it and no suprise two of the pilots were blocked, cold headers after start up, I used some Seafoam at 50% mix but it was a long shot and did not clear the pilots. After reading Freebirds guide to carb removal and buying some 17.5 pilot jets I set to work, it was not as bad as I thought and took me about an hour to pull the carbs fit the 17.5 pilots and put it all back together. I set the pms to 2.5 turns out. She started right up with a little choke and did not need more than a minute to warm on choke, then I went for a test ride, ooooh nice and smooth at low revs, next task will be to balance the carbs but that can wait until next weekend.
  7. Its a Yamaha Star emblem, its a sticker, looks pretty good so I will let is stay there. I have removed the as new Baker Built Air Wings and the highway pegs, they will be in the classified section soon, I like to feel some of the wind. This bikes it totally mint, cant wait to fit the new Avons and put some air into the suspension, oh and the new short wide windshield
  8. I bought this beauty last night, only 8K miles and lots of nice extras, including a Corbin seat and backrest. I ordered some new Avon venoms also, as the stock tires were squared off and past their best, oh and also ordered a short wide Yamaha windshield. Now do I keep my Road Star...........?
