  1. Like I thought of the other responder with the same response (and didn't both replying to) I think this is a useless response as the option doesn't give one an RSV with more power, but a totally different bike. Now, if you are saying the V-Max engine is a straight drop-in fit to the RSV, then that's another story.
  2. I have to keep my current bike (Suzuki Intruder VS800) at higher RPMs for it to really shine as well. I'd love to get a GW, but doubt I'd ever find a year old new stock for $16K. Though perhaps I should look at what 4 year old used can run me.
  3. Thanks. I guess I'll still have to go take a look at them in person and try one on for size. I'm heading down Thursday to check out two RSVs. One is a used 2008 Black Cherry model for $10K and the other is a new 2011 Blue model for $16,3K.
  4. So, is the RSV too big or too small? I'm short, 5' 8" with about a 28-29" inseam. I do know the Kawasaki Voyager fits me well enough. I've also spot-checked a Gold Wing - and it fit much better than I thought. I can't remember actually test-sitting on a Venture, but a riding friend recently let me know it's as big size wise as a bike he once had: the RSTD - which I thought was MASSIVE. If the ergos of the Venture as the same as his RSTD, then I guess I'll have to keep looking. Also - he said the RSTD's V-4 did not have the torque and power of his Yamaha Raider & Road Star Silverado. I was under the impression that it was a very powerful V-4 with a ~12 sec. 1/4 mile time. To answer the OP's question, I'd take a GoldWing if I could find one at a good price.
  5. I'm technically inept - can you explain what this does? What are the benefits? Also, what was the cost? Thanks, wild
  6. First pic Second pic Excellent location! I have a Stebel on my VS800 right now - stuck out in plain sight hanging off an engine guard.
  7. Thanks for the excellent response and helpful information. I'm 99% convinced I'll get this as my next bike. I need to evaluate some finances first to see if I can buy new (hate the idea of depreciation, but LOVE the idea of 5 year unlimited mileage warranty!) or used. Maybe I can find a really good priced used Blue 2011 one in the near future. Ride safe.

(Parking, Trusted Location, Etc.) Yes Kind of Food? (Mexican, Chinese, etc.) Steak & Spaghetti Alcohol Served? - Additional Comments A family owned business now with 5 locations: Murfreesboro, Lebanon, Hendersonvill, and Nashville, TN as well as Florence, AL. We frequented the Murfreesboro location a couple times a month when we lived there. Now that we've moved away, we always stop in when we visit friends in the area. Best tasting steak I've ever eaten at a restaurant - excellent seasoning/flavor. Baked chicken & rice soup is excellent starter. The bread they serve with the food is to die for. Service is excellence.
  9. Hello all. Sorry to bring up an old thread, being a newb to your forum and all, but I have questions and I'm sure you got answers. I'm looking for a new bike. Or even a new used bike. I really like my get up & go (currently riding a Suzuki VS800 Intruder), but find it's aired out when in the mountains or when I want to pass when I'm already going about 50-60 mph. I stumbled across a review of the Yamaha Royal Star Venture S (which I think you guys refer to here as the RSV?) here. This review says this bike has 97 HP and 89 ft.-lb torque. These look way higher than your dyno charts above, so can I assume correctly that the review is using "at the crank" measurements and not the rear wheel? I'd be ALL over this bike if it had FI. I have two carbs on my bike now - and because everything is crammed in there like sardines, a carb sync is a bear. I can't imagine doing 4 carbs! (though I do already have a Morgan Carbtune that can). Are there any performance mods (pipes, air, rejetting?) that can be done to improve things and still keep the engine as smooth as everybody says? Thanks for talking to a newb.
