1. I bought my 2002 gen 2 about 4 months ago and the previous owner said it had a new battery , but after a couple of weeks of occassional use its dead flat , tried re-charging but battery would hold a charge even when not connected !! So i guessed dead cell and replaced the battery charged the new battery fully and fitted it. Over the next few days left it on my optimate charger . But for the following two weeks its been in my car showroom where i work , i went to move it today and guess what Dead! it lights the dash but just clicked when i atempted to start . What could be draining her or do these bikes need to live on the optimate chargers ! Cheers Edge
2. Im guessing there the same as standard roadkings . could they be american fine (AF)???? of some kind. Cheers
3. Hi there ive just got a lovely pair of harley Roadking fishtails . Ive made my brackets but cant seem to find any bolts that fit the rear mounts . Does anyone know what thread and size i need . Cheers Edge
4. Surely looking at the picture i provided looking at the E basket it has visibly narrower teeth at the top and seems about the same at the base. So it shouldnt be a case it runs to tightly ? But all i can say is its fitted and is alot quieter ? Ill see how it progresses over the next few months .Cheers
5. Paid £30 about $48 Dollars it was the basket and the carrier with some spare plates and clutch spring. Cheers
6. Yep im smiling . As soon as id pulled away from the house i could tell it was quieter. Alot quieter in the first three gears about 70% i reckon, and nothing at all in forth or fifth unless i really laboured it at a far slower speed than you would normally do in those gears. I then experimented at higher than normal cruising speeds from 45-90mph in forth silent and from 50-100mph in fifth silent also . Very happy indeed and also adding the v-max spring to mine and putting a full size plate in has stopped the slippage. If i remember back to my early days as a car technician i think i remember having to adjust Jaguar rear diffs and you could over tighten the cogs on those and get an awful Whining ? Maybe the same with these and if its more tight in one place than another maybe thats where the chirping comes from. Hey just a guess . But i do know the V-Max one had narrower teeth and is much quieter. But i think ill keep the old one just incase the noise comes back . Cheers Edge
7. Hi . My noise wasnt to bad really it was just that the clutch had started to slip, and i had read the thread ref the guy who had fitted a 1st gen basket which he reckoned was the same as the v-max one and the whine / chirp had gone . So thought id give it ago . If no better ill leave in if worse ill swap back round . Thanks Edge
8. Hi. the guy said it was a 96/97 model . But Dont go out and buy one yet ill let you know if it made her quieter. cheers
9. Hi . That really sounds an awesome ride. I wish we had a bit more scenery where i live here in the UK . For really nice country side like yours id need to travel up north to Scotland. Really sounds a great few days. Cheers Edge
10. Yes cant wait to see what happens . I was thinking if the teeth are to tight maybe causes the whine ? Worth a try it was £30
11. Hi my 2000 venture's clutch started to slip about a week after ownership in 5th mainly so i decided to source a extra clutch spring to pop in there and hopefully sort the problem, but i decided to pop over to a local v-max spares guy i know. I bought a complete basket with plates etc . Well my original is a H basket, and the v-max one has a scruffy E marked on the back if that means anything on the max's . Well im yet to try it to see if it eliminates the whine as im waiting for a gasket , but i thought you might like a few picks i took to show the difference in the teeth . V-max on the left has noticably narrower teeth to the original H Basket . Does anyone know if the I basket has Narrower Teeth compared to the H ?? Oh and a pic of my clutch basket tool welded a big screwdriver to a spare clutch plate lol
12. Theres about 12 little pods of varying size, Doubt there strickly legal but the police dont seem to worry about it to much . Its a 2001 model in excellent condition done about 20,000miles. Radio didnt work when i got her . But sent it away to clarion UK and they replaced the Output ic. Got it back yesterday and all fixed so well pleased . Cheers
13. Hi, in a few of the Threads ive wrote a few members asked to see the Ride . It was a bit dark before i got the camara out but it looked kinda cool?
14. Thanks for the advice i reckon ill go with mineral . Cheers
15. Well prob the only hard bit apart from mounting the thing, is the main wiring loom , on a car its called the iso connector which is part of the loom and would plug directly into the Audio unit . If you dont have this you will need to wire it up from the fuse box or directly from the battery for a permanent live with inline fuse, and ignition for the switched live . Cheers Edge
16. Hi most have a cassette unit , a amp and radio reciever unit plus a controller i think ? do you have all the bits? Cheers Edge
17. The Twist on connectors are for some really naff 12 volt leds fitted on the bike these are coming off tonight , and the bare ring connector is the negitive terminal for the battery. Yes and your right i reckon he didnt have any high enough amp wire so used lots instead oh dear , the rest of the wiring looks as new and original . ive found out the three white plugs that have been chopped are for a aux alarm which went wrong ! so thats a relief just needs tidying . Just need to see really what the original soleniod to battery wiring and plugs looked like so i can sort that out . Cheers Edge
18. Hi would anyone be able to take a few pics of there wiring from the starter soleniod to the battery so i can see whats in between . As the wiring diagrams show me the wires but not the actual plugs or connections. Just so i can see what should be there rather than the mess thats there at the moment . Thanks in advance. Edge
19. No its deff not stock thats exactly what they have done ! i just dont know why . the other three plugs on my initial thread shows the oem plugs with no where to go ? cheers
20. Ah looks like its something to do with starter relay etc help !!!!! it looks terrible! the three plugs i mention well still dont know what there for but they are in the oem wiring loom , also the starter relay has a couple of none original wires pluged in bottom and theres a bigger plug which has been rewired taking wires to the positive side of the battery with 30 amp fuses in between.!!!!????
21. Hi i added a pic to show the wires , they are beside the battery on the left hand side as you sit on the bike . cheers
22. Hi there only had the venture about a week know, but have been checking through it for faults and doing routine maintenance . Apart from the slight whine from transmission , and the audio not working, oh and the slightly slippy clutch. The bike is awesome and in excellent almost as new condtion and im very very pleased i bought her ! But as ive been cleaning and checking over the bike ive found some wires that dont seem to go anywhere one has two wires with a corroded plug, which is strange as theres no corrosion anywhere on the bike at all. The other two plugs have four wires in one and two wires in the other all the wires appear to be black in colour ??? Ive looked in the manual but cant seem to find them ? Can anyone tell me what they might be for. Cheers Edge
23. Hi Guys i see alot of people go for the mobil 1 semi or fully synthetic oil etc etc, and as ive only just bought my venture ive looked on the net to see what people recommend, as im in the uk i cant get some of the American oils easily! But i was looking at a UK V-Max Specialist website today and they strongly recommend 20/50 mineral oil only . As they say the synthetic runs hotter and causes the clutch and starter clutch to slip ??? I know its a V-Max website but is the engine that different ? Cheers Edge
24. Is it likely all the speaker would stop working , or would it have the same effect if one failed ? Whats the best way to test the speakers . cheers
25. Cheers Ill try all the different inputs . But mine is a uk spec bike and doesnt come with the C/B. Thanks again P.S its going to be a challange to find a Cassette LOL
