  1. Glad you're getting the badges. I had the same issue with the '99 I purchased and this is what I did: http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/1999%20Yamaha%20Venture/101_0744_zpse0cb501e.jpg It turned out great, in my opinion. The vibration may be a sign that a good carb sync may need to be done. Not difficult with the right tool. Dave
  2. The trailer that Dano has is the trailer Alan and Annie used during their first trip to the US in 2011. The trailer that was used in 2013 to tour the states is what Sappermedic took back to Texas for Squidley. Thus the confusion. There are two trailers. Dave
  3. Not in Indy. Sappermedic picked it up from us in Salt Lake City and now has it at his place in Texas.
  4. Many have participated in the adventures of this trailer. It would be great to hear from those involved. Our involvement came after the amazing work that was done in preparing it for Alan and Annie by Squidley (Brad) and Gunboat (Don). The Aussies were coming to my place in Salt Lake City to pick up Alan's bike and the trailer. Along with our friends, Paul and Rhonda Tew, Jan and I rode to Cortez, Colorado. We met up there with Gunboat, after he made a 14 hour run from Texas to get us the trailer. This was our first and only opportunity to met with such a special person. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Mesa%20Verde-Cortez%20Trailer%20Trip/2013-05-17_20-06-40_211_zpsc3818ec6.jpg We had a great time visiting, talking bikes, laughing and I'm sure swapping a lie or two. We were truly blessed to have this meeting. Thanks Don! http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/Mesa%20Verde-Cortez%20Trailer%20Trip/ca5a49c867c6db6d2147bfeae0b31405_zps1c867485.jpg The next morning we hooked up the trailer to my '86. I pulled it all through Mesa Verde National Park and then on to Moab and finally to home. It rode so well behind the bike you almost didn't realize it was back there. That was May of 2013. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/9cfea7962b79e6717eab85c1f163b33d_zpsb232c64d.jpg After we arrived home we grabbed a pic hooked up to Alan's bike. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/4287d6f2e9710c216fee42d495213b0d_zps55926b7f.jpg Alan and Annie arrived to our place in July to pic up the bike and trailer before heading out on their adventures. While here they took time for a ride to Bear Lake and Monte Cristo with us and Jim and Carol Lindsey. It was a beautiful day and ride (sorry you lost you parade fans, Annie) At the end of touring around, we met up again in Moab, UT (this time in the car). Had a great couple of days visiting the parks and sites, and some great dinners! Since they returned home, they arranged to get the trailer from Portland to SLC, where we kept it over the winter. Last week Sappermedic (Brian) stopped by and got it almost home where it now belongs. What great times.....I love to do it all again! VR.org members are fantastic!! Thanks All Dave
  5. Did it come with it's own airplane too?
  6. I believe the CB is hardwired on the CB controller end. I would suggest tracing it over to the amp in the left fairing, under the radio controller, and remove the clean both male and female connections. Next I'd open the unit and see it there are broken solder connection in the CB unit. If someone close has a CB unit you can switch out and test. That will indicate whether the amp or the unit.
  7. Most of the wind vacuum I had on the 1st Gen went away with the addition of a vent.
  8. Jan and I want to wish you a Happy, Happy Birthday!! Thanks Lowell for being a great friend. Dave & Jan
  9. I would suspect the battery. It may be a simple as bad connections or the battery may be shot. Good Luck!
  10. Get a hold of Bob Meyers, he's in that area and I'm sure knows the right people.
  11. If I recall correctly the flashers have their own fuse in the secondary fuse panel that is tucked back in behind the battery. Dave
  12. Having broken both bones in my right leg/ankle, I feel for ya. Praying for a quick heal up!! Dave
  13. Frank was asking about you guys. I updated him on you most recent visit to the states. As he said "they're good people". I agree!
  14. Happy Birthday dear friend. Have a fantastic day. Our love to you and Alan!! :bighug::bighug:
  15. One of the previous owners removed all of the Venture emblems trying to make it something it isn't. I have Frank, a local pinstripper, come over today and give the bike a little more personal. Awesome He did a great job! http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/1999%20Yamaha%20Venture/101_0742_zpse5e5ed38.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/1999%20Yamaha%20Venture/101_0744_zpse0cb501e.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/1999%20Yamaha%20Venture/101_0749_zps1a52ec13.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/1999%20Yamaha%20Venture/101_0745_zpsc01d3a04.jpg
  16. I use the cb on occassion but if you don't, just leave it turned off. You may decide it's useful in the future. I removed the cassette and replaced it with a switch and 3.5mm port (mp3). You need to get the appropriate 8-pin din plug and connect lines 1 and 7 to the switch (going by memory here and it's getting old) and then three wires for the right, left and ground speakers (pins 3,4,5 I think). Then you can hook up any device you want that has a 3.5mm output. It will override the radio if there is music without flipping the switch but it's a little softer. With the switch flipped (tells the system the cassette is playing) then you take over the audio completely. Dave
  17. Say Hi when you pass through Salt Lake City. Dave
  18. Thanks for the lead on the mirrors from Dennis Kirk. They arrived today and I got them installed. I have a set of stock mirrors if anyone wants/needs them. http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/1e3bc24d807f57845d26213a13cc065e_zpsc7dc7e5d.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/3444b79bc168d175b2e0e8a642eae97c_zps029c18de.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/7525bfec8c989ee1c273f8ec0a7cd219_zps1cb5f53e.jpg
  19. I've been looking through old threads for a larger replacement mirror on the '99 RSV. I find the stock mirrors are too small for my liking. The only thing I've found is a Harber mirror but can't find a supplier. Any suggestions or leads would be appreciated. Dave
  20. Here's one that is for sale in our area. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=218&ad=28999602&cat=144&lpid=&search=venture&ad_cid=5 Dave
  21. Like Paul said. Post your schedule and you can likely meet up with or crash with some of us on the way. We are in the Salt Lake City area, which is a crossroads for I-80 going east/west and I-15 going north/south. There some great National Parks close to the freeways, so be sure and grab an annual park pass. Dave
  22. Our newest granddaughter, two months, is already preparing to ride.... http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/TeslaHDJacket2_zps09c973b9.jpg http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/TeslaHDJacket_zpsc4b315c1.jpg The Rest of the Story... As each of our grandchildren turn 3, we go to Build-A-Bear for their birthday gift. Her older brother turns three this week and he dressed his buddy in HD gear. He loves to go for rides or even just sit on Grandma or Grandpa's bike when ever he can. He even overcame his shyness and got Aussie Annie to take him for a ride or two, or was it three? The HD jacket fit her almost perfectly. Dave
  23. Depending on how you're coming through Utah, you can easily visit Zions, Bryce, Arches and Canyonland National Parks (worth the annual pass). There is also Dead Horse Point (Utah State Park). Again depending on your travel plans, you can head north from the 4 corners region towards Arches or east to Cortez, CO and Mesa Verde National Park which will put you at or near the Million dollar highway (depending on whether you ride half or the full loop). Dave
  24. Don't know if we'll get up that way this summer but just in case, when do you start for the summer?
  25. North on 89 will take you through Kanab and then you're close to Zion's National Park. After Mesa Verde, you're close to Moab, Utah and Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse State Park. All are great places to visit. Have a fantastic time! Dave
