  1. Wouldn't that make the driver a PASSENGER?
  2. Yes, Please let us know if Carbon One still makes armrests. All the other parts I've had from him have been first-rate
  3. I'd like to wish all my friends from the United States a safe and respectful Memorial day. As you pause to remember those who have fallen in service please spare a moment of respect for those who have served and who do serve, and then thank God that your country, like mine, remains the kind of place that inspires young men and women to choose to serve. I have stood beside some of your soldiers in Afghanistan, and I could clearly see the pride and determination they carry. MWO SJ Barnes DSM 1Bn The Royal Newfoundland Regiment
  4. Thanks for the quick answer. Just so I'm clear Lower Fairing = one of the plastic shrouds over the air intakes, just in front of the foot boards?
  5. Damn straight. Course should be mandatory in NL too, with graduated license linked to bike size. Standing rule in my family, enforced on older 2 of my 4 kids so far, is they MUST do professional driving school course before their car license and have that for 2 years before they are allowed to take the motorcycle safety course. MUST have that course before motorcycle license. the 2 yr with car license is to learn rules of the road, and how to watch for idiots with at least some solid protection before getting out in traffic on a 2 wheeler.
  6. 2012 Venture Before anyone waves the warranty card, this issue began when bike was involved in an accident. Because this issue is a result of the accident this issue is not coverable. Lights and indicators on dash respond properly when cruise is turned on. When set is pushed green light comes on as expected. When I let go the throttle speed decreases until the resume light comes on (flashes repeatedly) and continues to decrease. The throttle never engages to maintain speed. Any ideas welcome. I'm flying blind here.
  7. Mine's an 09. No issues at all. Buy the 08.
  8. 2010 when I first got my RSTD an obvious Harley fan pulled up next to me at a stoplight. He had all the gear, all with the logo, all obviously new. He revved a few times, his bike just rumbling and shaking, looked over at me and called "Nice sewing machine". I replied "Nice vibrator! Get off on it?" That's when the race started. We accelerated from the light down the highway onramp as I pulled away gaining ground steadily. Haven't seen him since.
  9. +1 on the vstar 650. My wife has one. She's 5'0" tall, not particularly physically robust. Her 650 is light, nimble, reliable. My oldest son has one as well. Easy to work on. Only issue I've noticed is that the stock clutch setup has a very small, almost all the way out friction zone. Takes getting used to. There's an aftermarket lever called the 'clevver' that changes the geometry and improves the friction zone.
  10. :no-no-no: If he'd been wearing Avon Venoms he'd have had 'better traction' instead of being 'in traction'.
  11. 09 RSTD - no whine 12 RSV - no whine only whining I've herd is my son whining bc I won't give him the TD.
  12. XV100SE: I run Avon venoms. The current set had 20k km and were still good. The front still looks new. It's glorious weather here, but I'm in the Army Reserve. Training today and tomorrow. At least I got to ride to work...
  13. Yesterday I dropped by the local Yamaha Dealer to pick up a part for my wife's bike. It wasn't in stock. Not too surprising They ordered it and gave me a very reasonable rate on air shipping. Today I went out for lunch with my sisters, riding my Tour Deluxe. While I was at lunch the dealer called to say the part was in. That gave me a good excuse to ride across town to the dealer, so off I went. I got to the dealer, picked up the part, traded some BS with the sales guy, mentioning that my second son had just done his course so we'd be in once he'd done a road test. Went out to my bike and tried to back out of the parking spot. Bike felt VERY heavy, hard to move. Got off and looked - rear tire flat. Goldarnit! at least it happened in the best possible place. Went in to talk to the service department. To set the stage, today, Friday, is the day before a long weekend. Everybody and their cat is trying to get their toys done to be ready for the weekend. The service guy knows me. I'm in there frequently. He saw how pissed I looked and came over to talk. I explained what I'd found. He told me he was insanely busy, could I leave it with him till Tuesday. I said I could but I'd need to figure out a way home because my wife was out of town. While I was working on that issue the service manager disappeared briefly. When he came back he had me sign a work order and took my key, I assumed for Tuesday, and vanished again. Just after I'd reached my son who was on his way into town to visit friends the service manager came back, told me it was done, and I should pay the work-order and meet him out front. I think, although he didn't tell me, that he pulled my bike into the shop, mounted, balanced, and installed my new tire himself. Yes, it may have helped my case that I've bought 6 bikes through that dealer since 2010. Yes, it may have helped my case that every season I get them to do a full maintenance and safety check on the 5 still in my family. Frankly, I don't care. I got excellent, caring service. The dealership went way beyond trying to make my situation right. Whenever I see a thread here complaining about dealerships, or 'stealerships', I smile softly to myself and say "You don't know my dealer." Atlantic Recreation, Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada. Well done them. Turned out my rear tire had picked up a piece of metal somewhere. I'm glad it waited till I was parked to go flat.

    Rain anyone?

Someone must have gone riding. In Newfoundland that ALWAYS summons the rain gods.
  15. Paypal sent. I've PM'ed the shipping address. Thanks
  16. Are you sure the choke isn't stuck on?
  17. +1 I have both the bracket and the harness on my Venture. Really simple install. An earlier post suggested mounting the horn to direct the noise forward. Can't say I think that necessary. Pretty sure no-one has trouble hearing my Stebel from the side-mount.
  18. This is why I ride. There's always something to watch.
  19. EVERYTHING is west of me. I can watch Atlantic icebergs out my kitchen window.
  20. Thanks... Payday's Thursday so I'll launch the paypal then. I'll pm shipping address. If shipping adds any charges just let me know.
  21. True enough. I like auctions, and I like getting a good deal. Just checked the classifieds for the list on the hitch. I want to be able to tell my wife I got a deal buying on auction so...... Hitch $124.99
