  1. Replace the tapedeck with a GPS rig. Fuel Injection. Real tires. Otherwise keep it. It works good, feels right.
  2. The only dumb question is the one that's left unasked.
  3. Baggershield. Best of both worlds. Around town I flip it down to feel the breeze. Highway runs I flip it up to block the wind. When up it's just enough shorter than stock that I can see over it fine. Slightly wider too so I get a better pocket.
  4. Hit 12C here lunchtime yesterday so I dragged my teenage son out of bed to help me push the BIG V and the TD out of the shed. Dropped the batteries in, set the petcock, pulled the choke, hit the button, and instant start. Smoothed out to that magical rumble quickly. Checked the necessaries, tied on a hat, and rode back to work. So that was what's been missing all winter. For those unfamiliar with the region, Newfoundland does indeed have 4 seasons: 1. Almost Winter 2. Winter 3. Still Winter 4. Pothole Repair. (sometimes called Line Painting)
  5. I've been told the 4 stages in a man's life are: 1. You believe in Santa Claus 2. You don't believe in Santa Claus 3. You ARE Santa Claus 4. You look like Santa Claus
  6. Accessories? For a wing? I thought they came factory-loaded with everything imaginable....
  7. I suspect Mary Poppins would know....

  9. true, but New Brunswick is mid-coast. Newfoundland is further east. See you when you get here
  10. What has happened is tragic, and is new to Canadians. I'm not aware of a combat loss on Canadian soil since 1815. Sea losses, yes, including the first Canadian female lost to enemy action during WWII, a nurse travelling on SS Caribou when the ship was torpedoed, but not land combat casualties. So far these idiots have specifically targeted soldiers first. We're warned now, and we have the skills and training to identify threats. I attended my reserve unit training last night. The mood was angry and determined. Security level had been increased and I know my eyes have been more active and alert since the MURDER of WO Vincent and Cpl Cirillo. The only cure for terrorism is a 5.56mm x 45mm NATO standard round, and it comes in a magazine with 29 of it's best friends, in case a second dose is needed. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. And we will continue to stand on guard for thee. I'd like to stand in line to buy Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers a beer, but I suspect that line is several miles long. I doubt Mr. Vickers will ever have to pay for a beer again. Well done him!
  11. Well, she could always ride the Maxim
  12. You can see the list in the signature. After my beginner course (on assorted 250's) I bought a vstar 950 and put 10000km on it first season, then traded it in on the RSTD. I test-rode the entire herd before I bought them. The 250 I bought for my wife and 2nd son to learn on. It's a fun little scoot, but I needed a prybar to get it out of my butt crack after riding it. It gets run occasionally to keep it lubed and maintained while it waits for my 2 youngest to get old enough to ride. Oldest son's and wife's 650s are nice bikes, just not enough horse for me after the RSTD and the Venture. When I bought the 950 for 2nd son I thought it'd feel like going home to my first bike. Not so much. I rode it around for a bit, checked it out, told my son I really liked it, which I do, and walked back to my bike thinking "It sure ain't a venture". I can't go back to the 950 as my regular steed, but it's fun for an occasional hop.
  13. This site is far more than a collection of data. Means to add data back after format changes will be found. The essential thing is to keep the community, the people, some more spectacularly unusual than others, together. There's a feeling, a family, to keep. Data we can get anywhere. The people here make this site what we are.
  14. SM10 dual bluetooth with cable for headset plug. SMh10H on helmet. Charging cable and usb adapter for power socket. Tool roll with combo wrenches socket set allen keys pliers Slime kit and compressor tire guage booster cables fuses roll of wire connectors rain gear sweater spare key (hidden) ipod (connected through isimple) CAA card Tim Horton's card
  15. All the little noises and concerns that haunt life fade away. It doesn't matter which bike I take out, the background noise just vanishes. (I have to admit I prefer the "BIG V") Each has the ability to charm and quiet my soul, leaving me at peace as I get the checks in the box for another day with my family.
  16. I'm 5'10". I look over the top comfortably
  17. Glad to hear you're safe. The bike? Sad, but replaceable, and her insurance company's problem. Her car? not really interested. Take the time to heal thoroughly and well. The road will still be there when you're ready.
  18. One IT guy's opinion: Every village gets an occasional idiot. As long as each mole is whacked promptly when it sticks it's head up this site won't become known for allowing such behavior and the problem should keep itself to a minimum. The benefit of allowing guests to contact registered members, especially when they've come to this site because of some specific problem, and the prompt friendly response they get, is the best advertising and encouragement to join possible. I've been pestering my eldest son occasionally with the (untrue) idea that the town council calls frequently asking if he's ready to move back. I tell him the village of Flatrock is missing it's idiot.
  19. After running it for a month, I'm still very impressed with this product. As a nice side effect, I find my riding more relaxed. At 5'10" I was exactly the right height to have my eyeline in line with the top of the stock windshield and I was sitting in a rigid position stretching to get my eyeline over the top. The bagger is just enough shorter that I can relax in the seat.
  20. If you've been taking a month off, how did you read and reply to this thread? Must be an "out of computer" experience....
  21. Wouldn't that make it a "crochet rocket"?
  22. All of mine have no difficulty reaching the posted speed limit. Much past that and I'm concentrating more on the riding than the ride. Relax, enjoy the ride.
  23. If I ever get rid of my Venture I'll ride the RSTD, or the VSTAR 950T or the VSTAR 650 Classic or the VSTAR 650 Custom or the VSTAR 250. If I ride the VSTAR 250 I'll have to bring a crowbar along.
  24. http://forums.spiders.us/ sorry, someone had to....
