  1. I put his gauge set on my 03 several years ago and really love them. Next time you see Ponch just do me a favor and ask him where I can get the tach. I'll do the rest myself. Pass on a hi for me. We talked a few times when I was doing my gauge install. He is truly a great person and a tremendous asset to VR. Thanks immensely If anyone else knows about the tach I'll love to hear. Thanks
  2. Thanks for the update, Don. I have thought a lot about Ponch since his accident and have often wondered how he was doing. Glad to see that he is on the right side of the grass and doing as well as can be expected. I miss his posts and the great input he had here on the forum. I was also a gauge customer of his and he was really good to work with. Any idea how I can get another gauge set? Getting old sucks. Thanks again and pass on my wishes of good luck and happy times for Ponch and Lil'bit.
  3. I personally like the auto start auto stop option. You guys that have seen the new Venture in your local dealers know what I talking about. Then there is the Auto Seat Sterilizer With InterPersonal Evacuator or A$$ WIPE comes in handy when the stealth option is on and the car next to you didn't see you because you weren't there.
  4. There are lots of RSV's in sunny AZ. The RSV was probably behind chasing the parts.
  5. Sounds like one of those attack squirrels. You out to consider yourself lucky that it wasn't an attack deer.
  6. OK so someone has to say it........ what the heck is a kg?????? I know it is a kilogram but how much do these motorcycles really weigh here in America.
  7. Did a couple hundred miles here today. Had a great ride in the mountains and not a rain drop in sight.
  8. Yes I would. When I bought the first one in 1985 I bought it because it is what I wanted. When I bought my 03 it was what I wanted, again. So when they come out with a new, I mean really updated RSV, I'll buy again.
  9. Looks fun. I had a chance at a 32 Ford when I was in high school decades ago. I am in the process of redoing a 67 Mustang now. It's a bit chilly out side and my shop doesn't have heat so I work on it in the warmer months which is when I play so the 67 is being patient.
  10. Barrycuda You have the best color, fastest too.
  11. I bought a GL1800 Roadsmith trike for Christmas so you can put me on the Goldwing lit too. I still have the RSV and R* but will be selling them soon. I need to come up with the money to pay for the trike now.
  12. I had decided on a 4 post lift until I found out that it would cost another $1000 or so to buy the jacking adapter. Also I need one that I can drive through because my shop is 60 feet deep and I am planning on putting the lift in the center on one side and would like to be able to drive a car from back to front in my shop. Thanks for the imput.
  13. I'm looking at buying a 10,000 pound 2 post automotive lift. Does anyone here have any advice for me? What brand do you owners have? and what would you suggest? Thanks Kent
  14. I just got back from a 2600 mile trip to S Dakota from Southern UT. Now my 03 RSV is leaving little spots of oil on the garage floor under the vent hoses that come out of the bottom of the motorcycle just aft of the engine. The oil spot is about 2 to 3 inches long and 1 inch wide and it is not dark dirty motor oil but still it looks like motor oil. My guess it is coming from some kind of breather hose or something. Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? I didn't have this same issue last year when I got home from a 6500 mile coast to coast trip. Thanks Kent
  15. That was exactly what I was thinking. I'll contact him as soon as I can find him.
  16. I was looking at my original post. It is not the fairing that is cracked it is the smoke colored vent that mounts on the left crash bar. So that is what I really need. If it is repairable let me know what kind of glue I need to get. Thanks Kent
  17. I was working on my lower left fairing and cracked the lower fairing on that side. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get another one? Thanks Kent
  18. If you buy the more expensive Kuryakyn kit # 4602 it comes with red bulbs and clear lenses. I had already converted my RSV to red LED and clear lenses so I put a # 4612 on it. Now the turn signals are running lights and turn signals. Just like my truck the red tail lights are also red turn signals.
  19. Took a few pics of the RSV and attempted a video in my shop. Here is a [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dv6aH4JJ8c]youtube[/ame] of the Triple Whammy in action. Triple Whammy from Road Star. Adapters to convert Road Star Triple Whammy to plug into the RSV. Triple Whammy with adapters Back of RSV with brake lights on. Before the conversion to clear lenses and LEDs.
  20. I'll get some on this afternoon. I suppose you can find some operational units on you tube. But I will be glad to gat a pic or two and if I can get a video to load I'll try that too.
  21. I have had a Kuryakyn Triple Whammy on my Road Star for a couple of years now and have been looking for one for the RSV. Problem is they don’t make a plug and play Triple Whammy and I’m really not in the mood to cut on any more wires on the RSV. It is not available for the RSV as a plug and play. So anyway I bought a wire harness from a member here Steve Kawalcky aka M61A1MECH on the forum and in the course of the conversation I asked if he could build an adapter to plug the Road Star Triple Whammy into the RSV. After some discussion and pictures going back and forth an expertly build adapter arrived at my house. I plugged it into the RSV and wa-la I had triple whammy taillights on the RSV. Everything works the same as on the R* and I couldn’t be happier. No cut wires and things worked perfectly. I ordered another Triple Whammy for the R* so I will have that added safety feature on both motorcycles. If you are interested you will need to buy a Kuryakyn part number 4602. This will come with lenses red bulbs for the turn/running lights. If you have already converted to clear lenses and red bulbs you will need a Kuryakyn part number 4612 this not come with the lenses or bulbs. If you shop on line you can find better prices than on Kury’s site. Thanks to M61A1MECH for all your help. Kent P.S. If you don't know what a Triple Whammy is go to Kuryakyn web site and you can see what I'm typing about.
  22. I think the guy is a spammer and trouble maker. His intention was to get a few people riled up and he did just that. I never saw that his question needed a response not to mention 10 pages of responses. I'm done now.
  23. Yeah one thingy is still MIA. I've taken stuff a part and even vacuumed the shop floor to try and locate it but it is really gone. I talked to Galfer to get another part mailed, that's scary, to me so I'm just waiting.
  24. I finished the throttle portion of the project just waiting for a small part to complete the clutch hose, then I'll be all done with the RSTD bar conversion, there is a small disk thingy in the coupling between the hose that goes to the clutch master cylinder and the small metal tube behind the left air cleaner that escaped and I can't find it anywhere . I took lots of pictures and will write a tech article if someone will tell me how. Thanks for everyones help Kent
  25. Now let me tell you about my luck and why I'm concerned about taking things a part. I was putting the extended SS clutch hose and there was say again was a tiny brass dish kind of thing that went on top of the flare nut and flared tube, well it escaped never to be seen again. I figure I can take the throttle cables out and be back on here begging for help again. Now I really am good at mechanical things I just have really bad luck when it comes to loosing "B" clips and things. That is why I'm being cautious about doing this small task.
