This is what the 5 pin looks like. I have connectors for them. LOL
  2. The OEM 2nd Gen (99-2014) have a self cancel signal. Only thing I have seen guys do is install a resistor. The mod I have seen was actually done on a Suzuki something. Looked easy enough. You dont need the big ole heat sink job because they are only momentary on. If you dont run the resistor they flash like crazy and folks really dont see them well. Try this one https://www.ebay.com/i/254059438934?chn=ps
  3. I was also going to say zip ties and maybe a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter.
  4. What about a super trap? Adjustable plates allow you to tune it. I'll look in attic, but freight would probably kill ya.
  5. I have been frequenting You Tube lately. There are a couple gals on there that have went cross country on bikes that size. One spent almost a year starting in Oregon or something and she went all over

I may be mistaken, but I believe the 1st and 2nd gen Ventures used a 5 pin plug cord. The same as older GW. Harley used that for awhile too. But somewhere along 2010 or so GW and HD went to 7 pin.
  7. Something like this should work. You probably want it a bit thinner. But ya get the idea. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King-E-O-1-1-4-in-x-7-16-in-x-10-ft-Black-High-Density-Rubber-Foam-Weatherstrip-Tape-R516H/100090883 Rubber vs foam as foam will probably deteriorate, the rubber should live a bit longer.
  8. I have bought some gear from Cycle Gear , although not that one. But the folks there have always been friendly and ready to help. I've bought rain gear, gloves a mesh jacket for the wife. ANd a Comm system Also the folks , J&P in Daytona were a big help a couple years back in the helmet search. Our helmets were like 4 or 5 years old and were due for replacement, a gal there was really good about walking the wife especially thru the fitting process.
  9. So I'm not real familiar with a lot of the finer points. So the infotainment system is not BT on it's own? It is still corded to a headset? If the bike is BT on its own you should be able to go with about any headset. I have SENA smh10 which by now is older tech, but works fine. I have read some reviews on newer systems and the "mesh" system and its not as great as manufacture boasts about.
  10. Who knows. Could be some kind of obscure rule about a firearm part and terrorism. I agree customer service is dwindling in a lot of places.
  11. Yea that. Man they extended our semester 2 weeks this year and screwed the deal. If I would of only missed a couple days I could swing that.
  12. I cant imagine why anybody needs to run over 100 mph for any distance, but if your feeling lucky....... I know when I got my 09 I was jumping up on the ickspressway over by Tampa. I was merging on I 75 and gassed it and I was rite @ 90 in 3rd changing to 4th before I slowed up some. I remember reading some folks thought that part of what effected their top speed was the large windshield.
  13. I have rode the dragon twice from the Tn side. Last time which would have been my third I left Deals Gap there on the NC side going North. My first corner going up looked similar to this.

    Broke down

I just used the OEM wires to the Mr Gasket pump.
  15. Don take a look @ this.
  16. LOL Bourbon Tour Just stumbled onto grand opening
  17. System Restore is my go to if I can not find a "fix" for something. I dont use Edge or IE. I use Chrome or @ work we use Mozilla Firefox. If it goes to overwhelming go to Best Buy Geek Squad or our Office Depot does computer stuff like that too.
  18. I look @ a plug as a "temp fix" I would prefer to get a patch on it as soon as possible. But if your on a trip your not going to break it down and repair. So with that being said I carry one like this and one of those Co2 inflators
  19. I had an 07 Vulcan 900. That was the bike that "got me back on 2 wheels" after a hiatus. Bought it new in 07 and put bags and a windshiled and oh yea a seat we could stand to be on more than 30 min. We made a couple 1500 mile 2 up trips, and I rode it most weeks back and forth to airport for work 180 miles a week. Put like 36k miles on it before we traded for the RSV. It was a good bike and 2 up was not bad for a couple hundred miles a day.
  20. I have only used it once or so. But it was suggested by someone I forget where. But if your 2 up say an hour or so before your ready to stop, have the co-pilot start looking.
  21. Man you hit the nail on the head IMOP. The best "mods" I did I think the my RSV when I had it was Michelin C II tires (the 130/90 up front) and lowering the front forks about 3/4" up in the triple tree. But the tires, man of course they were new compared to worn out Dunlaps but confidence. And in the rain way better.
  22. My 2nd gen windshield under the chrome piece some of the bolt holes were showing signs of cracking. I for the life of me found it odd they did not have large washers on the shield to displace the force. So I did. I got some fender washers and a couple layers of duct tape on backside of washers and install.
  23. Different bike, but I have a Madstad on the Victory. Never had the OEM so other than a couple dealer rides never rode with factory. But they are big kind of like the OEM RSV shield. The Madstad allows some adjustment up and down sort of but you can tilt it which actually gives you some height adjustment. But adjusts the wind for deflection and ventilation. You all's Venture 3's have adjustable height shields. So whats the beef.

    Lightning Myth

Now reading reports that after he was struck he drove off the road. Unknown if the lighting did him in rite off the bat or the subsequent run off the road after.
  25. Ceramics have longer wear and less dust, but due to the compound my experience shows more wear on the rotor. This is on autos. Something has to wear right? I run the sintered pads on the bike, which for all purposes I guess would be a semi-metallic. I had some carbon ones on the rear of the RSV trying to help with the occasional lock up. Those guys liked so heat before gripping, so in twisties you had to sort of drag the rear brake. At any rate its not a huge deal.
