  1. Its normal for the intake boots to crack over time. if you were to do a cut away of the boot you will find a metal sleeve between the layers of rubber. They won't leak unless the cracks go all the way to the top of the boot where the carbs seat to the boot. That happened to mine. Had to change them out.
  2. :sign yeah that:Same one I use.
  3. wanna bet! I found out the hard way, if you don't switch to your reserve every couple of fill ups you will be in for a big surprise. on our way back from Don's MD, we were almost home so I let the tank run down to reserve. When I switch over, witch was the fist time since sometime last year I got nothing but water. Lucky thing we were only a mile from a gas station. When we got home I drained off at least a 1/2 gallon of pure water. I don't know where I got it from. Maybe a bad load from a station on the road, maybe it was there all winter. All I know is, my tank will be on reserve all the time from now on. I still can't believe the bike ran great all the way to Ohio and back with all that water in there. Never once did it hickup.

    sighting

A blond 1st gen with sidecar, heading north on state rte 96 in Trumansburg NY. about 9:30 am.
  6. Took a day ride today. Pointed the trike south, stopped at one of our favorite eatery for breakfast. After a great meal, we continued south until we hit PA. Ran the 220 south to the 6 east. Great scenery along rte 6. Picked up rte 11 north back to NY. Spent about 8 hours on the road. Most of our rides start with picking a direction and just riding. We have found many interesting places along the way. Not to mention the many hours of free therapy.
  7. Just watch Fast and Loud. Buy junk, paint it, make it run and sell.
  8. Paypal and PM sent. Thanks Monty.
  9. From the gap to the Del. line sucks. You have to run through NJ. I was born and raised in NJ...those people are NUTS! I have family in NJ and refuse to ride the trike in that state. Heck, I hate driving in NJ. Most dangerous state I have ever driven in and I lived in the L.A. area for 4 years. That was nothing compared to NJ. Now with that being said, the best time to drive through that area is after midnight. Just watch out for the crazy street racers do 125 mph plus down the thruway. once you get past Wilmington / Newark Area just run the 13 south if your going to MD. and VA. Nice dive down the Delmarva peninsula. By the way, the Del water gap is a nice area. there are a couple of crossing that aren't to bad. The I-80 can be bad on Friday afternoon and sunday afternoon. All the nut jobs from NY and NJ trying to excape to the Poconos and return.
  10. Sorry, working that day.
  11. We had the pleasure to meet Gunboat last year at International. I had talked to him several times on the subject of our Motortrike RSV's. He was always ready to help in anyway. We will miss him dearly. We pray you have a smooth ride to heaven. God bless, Steamer and RockinRobin
  12. The 88 is a better deal. The 99 looks like a back yard butcher job. The 88 was probably installed by Motortrike. Motortrike is one of the top trike fabricators out there. They are darn near bullet proof. It probably has a Ford 7.5 in straight axle with 3.78 gears. The only problem, it probably doesn't have air suspension, just coil over shocks. So the ride maybe a little on the mushy side.
  13. This is a triwing kit. Jonesy can fill you in on this kit. He owns one that looks a lot like this one. Some one did butcher the rear exhaust pipes on this trike. They completely remove the rear chrome Y pipes. Don't know why. I have seen several Triwing kits with the stock Y pipes on. Looks kind of ugly with those black pipes on the rear cylinders.
  14. I have the same problem with the chrome trim. it will not snap in, it is secured only by the two outside screws. I haven't had time to look at it yet. Does anyone have a answer to this problem?
  15. I didn't have a deluxe model. It didn't have that big mud guard. My exhaust went straight out the back.
  16. How close are they? If you have more then 3" it shouldn't be a problem. If its less, then it will probably make the exhaust sound different then without the mud guard. I don't think it will cause more back pressure on the exhaust system, just a different sound.
  17. I had a voyager kit for awhile. But nothing on it was anywhere near the carbs. Are you talking about the exhaust pipes being close to the fenders?
  18. Very few trikes out there for 10 grand. occasionally you can find an older RSV for around $14000.00 or a 90's Goldwing for around the same $$.
  19. That's... FREGGIN AWSOME! Good luck and god bless.
  20. Can't fix STUPID!
  21. That's a lot of bad gas to get at just one station. The only bad gas we got for sure while we were in Ohio was from Big Tom while riding in the back seat of buffalo Bodners suv. All though I had a problem with the bike running poorly while we were there last year also. Wonder if it was from that Marathon station down the road from Don's.
  22. This is NY! Just another day in paradise:starz:
  23. I guess no one has ever tried rebuilding a gas cap. I'm trying to figure out why when we returned from MD in Ohio I had about a gallon of water in my gas tank. When we where about 12 miles from home I shifted to the reserve and the bike almost died. Made it to a gas station and filled up. Still wouldn't run until I shifted back to the main. When we got home I drained about 1/2 a gallon of water off of the reserve. the seal on the cap is dried out and has a bunch of small crack's. We ran in heavy rain for about 4 hours on Thursday. Its either that or we got one really bad load of gas somewhere. Ended up draining all the gas out of the tank and cleaned it out with a good dose of heat. gave it a good cleaning. All is good now, but I don't want a repeat in the future.
  24. 2nd gen gas cap seal, can it be replaced? I checked partzilla and they only show a part number for a complete cap. Don't know if it comes with a lock and key or can I install my own? Has anyone rebuilt or replaced there gas cap?
