Was on Yamaha's website and saw the Eluder no longer listed. The Venture is still listed but no years. Makes you wonder what is going on. Hope they don't dump everything. This bike has its flaws but I just love it.

Yamaha fixed 2nd gear in 85 but i don't remember serial number break. In that condition I would not give anything, well maybe $100. Could always part it out. Looks like he was in the process of parting it out

For long rear tire life the Dunlop E4seems to be the ticket. I got 18,00 0 miles out of stock front but found a cheaper Bridgstone touring tire for 2 nd. round. Currently at 9,000 miles and still looks good

Check the floor of the trunk for cracks. The early 99's where lacking support washers and some of the trunks cracked.

This is 2021. White and blue were the colors. The new release would be for 2022. Yamaha usually does there releases in Sept. Hoping they come out with another red one like my 2018, might trade up.

try coating the area with baby powder or white flour. Let it run for a bit a see if the leaking spot shows up.

The piece of plastic between the windshield and headlights is the piece that needs to be removed. I don't know if this is the piece that you are referring to. But anyway remove the plastic chrome piece from the lower part of the windshield. The cowling just pops off.

My guess would be one of the additives in the oil don't like your forks. I have seen this before but don't remember what fork oil it was. Use a name brand oil and see what happens.

Chief, Looks like he is trying to tell us something by giving us tips. Like RED, 2021 and sunshine. I have no idea what these could mean. Something is going on, something big. I am not sure why Yamaha wanted the tread gone. Maybe Yamaha just isn't quite ready to release this upgrade. I just don't know what to think of all this

Make sure to use a screwdriver that fits the screw heads properly. These screws are very soft and the heads will strip out very easily. Make sure to check for corrosion as moisture can get in under the lense and cause bulb to lose contact.

I put Sonic springs in my 2007 when I had it. Made it a real good handling bike in the twistes. I had progressives in my 84 venture royal- it was a huge improvement on that bike.

Call the dealer that is 2 hours away and talk to the service manager. See what he has to say. When I talked to the 2nd dealer they did not care that I had bought a Yamaha product from a different dealer. Should be worth checking out.

Depends on condition of battery and how much draw is on it. I do not know what the draw is on this bike is supposed to be but maybe it is in the service manual. I think you should find a different dealer. I called the dealer I bought mine from when I was having the brake switch problem. They said to bring it in and let it sit until they had time to work on it. I said no way. I called a dealer that was almost two hours away and told the service manager the problems I was having with the cruise control shutting off. He said give me your phone number and let me call Yamaha. He called back about an hour later and said before he could describe the porblem completely they said to order a front brake switch and change it out under warranty. Needless to say the second dealer gets all my business now.

There have been some bikes that have had to have there starters replaced. The only warning of starter failure has been a hesitation before or during cranking. When the failure did occur it was a complete failure of the starter. Last fall I had some starts were I would get a hesitation while starter was cranking. Yesterday I pulled the bike out of its winter nest and got it in my shop. I removed the starter and disassembled it. The commutator end had quite a bit of brush dust built up on the lowest side of the starter. I cleaned it all up and blew air over all the pieces. I took some brake cleaner and cleaned the bearing up as it had brush dust in there. I greased the bearing with some synthetic grease and reassembled it. I bench tested the starter and it appears to be working fine now. Like an idiot I forgot to take pictures. The bike has 23,000 miles on it. Guess I will have to make it part of my maintenance every 20,000 miles.

Is reverse working? I would look at the linkage for the sure park lever and operate it. Look for a switch that the lever pushes against. Check all wiring connections, make sure they are tight.

I did mine at 15,000 miles. The job is not as bad as you think. The front coil bracket must be removed to remove the front valve cover. I can be a pain to get access to the front screw. I used a 1/4 inch drive ext about 16 inches long and and came down from the top by the handlebars. I put a little tape on hex socket for a tight fit otherwise screw will come off and good luck trying to find it. There is a procedure for draining the tank in the service manual. Follow it. The whole job took me about 8 hrs. Should be alot less next time. A lot of work just to find out the valves did not need adjustment at this time.
