  4. There is this old (good) thread also where some custom adjustments were needed http://www.venturerider.org/forum/body-plastic-paint-and-seats/6365-improving-lines-saddlebag-guard-rails.html?highlight=Improving+Lines and more discussion here http://www.venturerider.org/forum/second-generation-venture-tech-talk/44588-saddlebag-rail-adjustment.html?highlight=Improving+Lines I had bought aftermarket ones off ebay years ago and had to do same to get the rails to look level and match the lines of the bags
  5. In '98 the wife and I quit our jobs and ventured on a 6 month backpacking Europe trip. Was looking for an email name to use to correspond with the families from the then popular Internet cafes. last name is Walker.. was going to be walking the globe .. so came up with Globewalker(s) (a play on the old Globetrotters except we aren't tall enough)
  6. I haven't participated in much over the years.. but even I have witnessed and received the giving side of Brad. I'm sorry that life has thrown you a temporary curve ball, but you definitely deserve some help from your friends. I'm nearby if I can help with anything. -Keith
  7. Was traveling in Croatia this summer and saw this toy tool set for sale. The Lost in Translation captions on it made me laugh. It must have been a Chinese import even there because everyone there speaks English..
  8. I also replaced my brake lines with the SS extended ones rather than try to stretch the old ones http://www.cyclebrakes.com/html/custom_lines.html This is the part number I order (back in 2010) K003D463-3+3 FRONT 3 LINE KIT - GALFER **+3 INCHES ON TOP LINE ONLY**
  9. My buddy Mark (Phoneman1981) on here posted some pics before and after in his album, I'm sure he wont mind me pointing you that direction. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/album.php?albumid=864 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?50878-Flanders-Bar-replacement-on-2005-RSTD&p=582983&posted=1#post582983post582983 And this is the good write up of instructions someone posted long ago..(except model # of the bars is incorrect for RSTD.. you have the correct part number) http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?37770-RSTD-Flanders-How-To-w-new-stock-end-weight-idea It appears by this catalog that the model quoted in the instructions 650-08373 could prob work since center measurement is wide but the pullback is less than the normal model that everyone is installing on the RSTD 650-08783 ... FWIW http://www.sideroadcycles.com/HandlebarCatalog1-28-2011.pdf -Keith
  10. Looks like a wind turbine wing ... a lot of them pass through here
  11. My wife snapped this while driving near Houston, TX a Mustang lover's MC Trailer it appears..
  12. 650-08783 is the correct model for RSTD Several of us had trouble getting the RSTD Flanders bars even back in 2010.. Lots of talk about discontinuing them, back ordered .. You can try this site also.. http://www.sideroadcycles.com/AmericanMotorcycles/Handlebars/Six_Bends/Flanders_Pullbacks.html oh but looks like the previous Flanders link brings you here.. they appear affiliated.. Good luck .. there is a good write up on this site on how to change them..
  13. Congrats Mark! Keep em rollin
  14. Very cool.. keeping the folk music alive
  15. keep a spare laced into one of my boots.. as long as i don't lose my boots also ..I'll be ok
  16. ouch yea that would be easy to forget since you don't use them much. I think mine has a bright colored coil lanyard that stretches and clips to the handlebars to remind me. Glad ya'll are ok.
  17. Google knows nearly every Wi-Fi password in the world This is old news, but blog below has references to many sources making it undeniably scary. http://blogs.computerworld.com/print/22806 Apple likely does essentially the same thing, but talks less. So for all your android and iPhone users be aware. Your wifi password with GPS coordinates, that Google already stores, could get in the wrong hands
  18. yea well this is way bigger than our personal emails.. and having anything to hide.. as the article said “The encryption technologies that the NSA has exploited to enable its secret dragnet surveillance are the same technologies that protect our most sensitive information, including medical records, financial transactions, and commercial secrets,” I work for a software firm in the credit card industry and there is much focus on encrypting or better yet tokenizing the card numbers .. But Big Brother tactics could be circumventing the effectiveness of all that and leaving us all vulnerable. Your medical records can be abused, electronic terrorism can be made easier, if intentional back doors and weak security code has been implemented.. But hey ... its Friday the 13th ... what am I thinking ;-)
  19. well said.. I second that emotion.. looked like just an old story that was posted and it went all diff directions quickly .. interesting to see all of the diff interpretations that can emerge...well it would be if I was a psychologist ;-)
  20. i have tried the anti squeal stuff (dont recall if I also applied on the shim) but still have the squeal may need to try the 45 degree angle trick
  21. Update on mine.. sat a couple of days and it started on its own.. go figure Put charger on it over night and of course it starts for sure now. While cranking voltage drops to 10.x while revving.. it climbs to 14.. I think it may be original battery so prob need start with new one since its an 07 ... Also ... I never keep a charger on it normally .. but also haven't been riding it much lately just seems odd it died while riding after riding 45 minutes from downtown to the burbs.. oh and then coincidentally my 2011 MDX battery dies on me this weekend also - had to replace it to get it home... Thanks
  22. would a bad battery cause it to die while driving it? Mine just stranded me other day - luckily only 4 long blocks from home.. Haven't had time to troubleshoot yet (had to work on fence gate falling down) sputtered a tad, then died. turn key and nothing, although lights would come on and dash. I think i did hear fuel pump..
  23. Utopia backrest on my RSTD folds very flat.. Thats how I mount the bike, then fold it up behind me.. not sure if it folds down less on a RSV
  24. ha wow as my friend Wei Tu Phuny said, "that is hilarious!" how could a summer intern pass up on that one... he had to approve it
  25. well if u want to get artsy and u can see the subject when held to a light... how about stringing them somehow to hang in front of a window http://inhabitat.com/diy-vibrant-curtains-upcycled-from-old-film-slides/ My wife has been wanting to do that with some of my old underwater slides
