  1. That's it.... I have now ordered a 2013 Harley. They lost me. I really liked my 04 Venture and have been waiting two years for updated version. I will keep the 04 for show and tell... and when Harley is in shop...
  2. I have not been able to find the skydoc kit in the Classified. My clutch just started slipping on my last trip. This thread gave me some good advice. Can you give me info on where to order?
  3. I live in Knoxville and news just reported that target date for opening Dragon is now July 1, 2010. They did say that they found some more unstable rock and will need to do more work, so check dates. Right now you can only enter and return on North Carolina side by the Deals Gap Store. You can ride up to the slide area, and then turn around. Here is web site.. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ You might want to come early 6/16-19 to enjoy the Knoxville Bike Rally starting this year to replace the Honda Hoot... http://www.knoxvillebikerally.com/
  4. Used these posted suggestions and it helped a lot. One thing would have helped too if knew before trying to remove spring "U" clamp is how the spring releases. The little ring on the spring's upper bracket pushes in and down to lock spring over bulb. So, need to push in on ring to remove tension, and move upward in slot about a sixteenth of inch to another slot allowing it to swing outward and left toward you around bulb. Easy to understand once bulb is out and can see how spring locks in place. Hopes this saves you some of grief I had. It really isn't too hard to change these bulbs by following these members posted instruction. As one reminded us, do not twist or turn bulb to get it out. It will pull out easily once spring tension "U" bracket is released. Can change them now in less than five minutes. Dealer wants one hour labor. Good to know how to do this yourself if on trip so give it a try.
  5. If it sat all winter and you did not use any fuel stabilizer... then maybe the carbs. But these bikes are nearly bullet-proof and I love the little maintenance it needs compared to other makes.
  6. Forgot to tell you that I had friend gently apply brake when turning wheel so brake pads were gently pressing on rotor while wheel turned. I was holding rag on both sides of rotor at this time to take off crud coming off pads.
  7. I had front brake grind when stoppng and I cleaned off rotor and shoes with brake cleaner and it went away. Been over a year now. I did it by putting cleaner on rag to clean rotor in order to prevent over spray (don't forget to clean both sides). After cleaning rotors, move wheel while hold rag with cleaner on both sides of rotor (you will need friend to help). Do this for about a minute to get the pads completely covered with brake cleaner in order to pull off surface crud on pads. Pads get dirty and also crystalize over time and this cleaned them for me. Hopefully it will work for you. Remember, you can always take the brake caliber off to clean the pads and some people have already given some good suggestions already about how to do this. I was on a trip at the time and wanted to try a quick fix.
  8. :bang head:This is my first post but wanted to thank you guys for coming up with answer to rear shock squeak/groan on my 2004 Midnight Venture with 26K -- I know, little mileage for Bike. I bought it a year ago with 5K on it so I've been riding. Shock held air and no oil leak, but it started to groan loudly when sat on bike. It was even louder when I put extra air in shock. Took advice of removing shrader valve and lubricate with oil. I chose to put a couple ounces of WD40 in shock by jacking rear wheel off ground and placing WD in small funnel connected to valve with clear plastic hose. A couple times of slowly lowering it to compress shock a little and raising it back up drank the liquid. Went slow not to have air blow liquid all over bike. I put rag around funnel and over the top to help prevent this. Guess what, after first ride, the squeak/groan stopped. Thanks again guys... you helped me zero in on problem. Hey, if you are removing shocks from new bike with same symptoms, the old shock might be still good.
