  1. Oh CRAP!! Hide the wimmin & chillin...
  2. Curtis Mathis?? WOW!! That's a blast from the past!! Any Dumont? Philco?? Marantz? Hallicrafters?? ETC ETC! To the right person they are worth money, now you have to find somebody that caters to rich collector's whims! As a teen I made extra money fixing radios and TV's. Was a Ham operator at 14, my interest in electronics was sparked when I was 12. Worked in electronics for over 35 years until my eyesight started to go!
  3. The car show at the Charcoal Corral Steamer!! We already gots our first guest, rode past Ben's Nickelbrook Motel and saw JRichard's Kaw in the front... On the way home saw another bike on the side, didn't look like his, 2nd gen sort of looking, but it was dark out...
  4. Think it's a SCAM?!!?
  5. OK the anti tip over one way valve could be clogged On the tank end you should not be able to blow any air through (No, don't use an air compressor, just your own breath) and from the road end it should pass air freely...
  6. Uhhhh, probably! With bike running, measure across the battery. At idle you should see around 12.8 to 13.3 volts. As you rev it up you should see around 13.8 to 14.2 volts. Both ranges are a give or take a tenth or two. Should you be reading some ridiculous number like 15 volts or so, your NEW R/R is NFG! Do not use! Replace immediately before you fry your battery and possibly other electrical items on the bike!!!!!
  7. No, we all pretty much use a Progressive or Harley hand pump, but maybe you could McGuiver a 1st Gen CLASS system in...
  8. Ohhhh Kaaayy, I see new seats, saddlebag, hand rail, the obvious rotor and caliper, maybe wheel bearings from the heat, new rear tire, few other misc. parts, etc... Seems Doable as long as you got it cheap enough...
  9. Yup!! No air cooled, and NO belt/chain drive...
  10. Yes, for the temp gauge there is a wire where the sensors are near the thermostat that is very easy to knock off!! It is towards the top close to where the frame is, follow the radiator hose and you will come to it...

  12. Yah!! there has been sort of a rumor about a new Yammy tourer but it would be based on the Strat. Hope that is NOT the case...
  13. Ahhhh!! The Hand Tie Dyed Tee Shirts!! I thought Jonas was referring to the GRAND PRIZE!! Hmmm, that IS a dilemma, isn't it?!!? Well, in that case, I suppose phone in's could be allowed, but isn't that going to cost you a FORTUNE in phone charges from an airplane Jonas??? You would first have to call in to someone's cell phone, and wait and wait until the auction begins, and outbid everyone else and HOPE there is still one in your size left...
  14. Ummm, the prize box measures 15" x 22" x 19", contents could fit in a slightly smaller area, maybe...
  15. YUP!! That "should" be the issue Ricky!! Just pull off your ignition cover and look for the rubber hose that is clamped onto the little nipple coming off the top front of the tank, on the right side if memory serves me right! Just remove the little clamp with your fingers and remove the rubber hose! What is happening is as the fuel is emptying from the gas tank, if the vent is clogged (little insects LOVE to build nests inside the hose) then no air can get into the tank to replace the volume of fuel removed from the tank, resulting in a vacuum that will try to suck the gas upwards into the tank so none can get out!! The fact that you said the gas tank would not come off easy pretty much confirms this! You should have heard a whoosh sound as air got sucked into the tank once the cap broke the seal. Betcha after you removed the gas cap the fuel started flowing again... PS We have made arrangements for a GF meal for you for the Saturday BBQ!
  16. Tickets will go on sale for the raffle Friday at the dinner! The committee decided to allow for individuals who are coming to the rally but have to miss the dinner for some reason or other to pre-purchase their raffle tickets such as Jonas who will not be in Country until friday evening, Buffalo Bodner who will be picking up Jonas at the airport, and MJ who can not make it until Saturday. There may be one or two other attendees that may fall into that category due to work situations, etc. The bottom line being as long as you attend the rally at all you can buy tickets! The stipulation being the winner has the responsibility of taking his winnings home!! We will not be responsible for shipping the prize so for that reason, you have to attend the rally to be eligible to win! Now, nothing is stopping the winner from auctioning off his prizes at the dinner for himself should there be things he/she doesn't want/need but that has nothing to do with the actual Rally... See you guys Thursday then Don!!
  17. Ya might as well ask which is better, Ford or Chevy?? And what about Mopar?? OK bottom line, all filters do just that, filter out little microscopic bits of foreign debris! Some filters use better materials than others, others may have some kind of safety feature like 1 way valves, etc. but the bottom line is you want a device to filter out your supply of oil! The same argument can be made for oil, it is a lubricant designed to keep your moving parts moving with little to no friction! Unfortunately not all oils are created equal, and our motorcycles require a motor oil that does NOT have anti friction additives strictly because of our "wet" clutches. Also there is a specific "recommendation" for the weight of the oil depending on the environmental temperature. The hotter the climate, the thinner the oil becomes so to compensate, the higher the temperature, the heavier weight that is required for oil regardless of motorcycle, car, truck, boat, etc! There are pro's and con's for synthetic vs natural oil as well... You hit the nail right on the head Lenny when you stated that Yamaha wants to sell (overpriced) YAMAHA parts!! They sure as heck do NOT wanting you to spend your money on someone else's product regardless if it works just as good if not better than their product!! Interesting study would be to ask anyone (Pucster comes to mind) that has put over 200,000 miles on their bike what kind of oil and filter they use!!! Myself I choose to use a good quality filter (there is nothing special about motorcycle filters, they are the same as a car one) for half the price or less of a Yamaha one! Same argument with oil, Yamaha oil is just too darn expensive and does not work any better or last any longer than a non Yamaha oil. Myself I use diesel oil, usually Shell Rotella T. The bottom line is, it's not the brand of oil or filter, it's REGULARLY changing your oil and filter, preferably every 2000 - 30000 miles and/or 6 months as oil ages and breaks down regardless of how many miles once it gets used...
  18. Hmmmm, does not change in pitch or volume with speed?? OK that would pretty much rule out any mechanical issues like engine or drivetrain. I guess I would start by removing the right saddlebag completely and go around the block. Still there? Remove the trunk as well! Keep on going to eliminate what is CAN'T be! What is throwing me for a loop is the fact that it goes away when you let off on the throttle. Puc may be right on with the loose motor mount, or it could be something with the exhaust. Sounds like you got a tough one there Rob... You can always just turn the radio up louder...
  19. Jonas and MJ, you got it!!! 2 cards each, one of each color. Best of luck to both of you!!! MJ no problem with the BBQ tickets, they will be on sale right up to the dinner Saturday, but I do appreciate the heads up as I need as accurate of a headcount as I can get so I know just how many dinners to order. We pay Chandersons by how many how many people we order for and they need the final count by Saturday morning at the latest...
  20. It just keeps getting BETTER and BETTER!! We have just received yet another contribution to the prize package worth over $30.00 to add to the total!! Man oh man I'm getting excited!!! It's kind of like those New York State Lottery commercials, "The New York State Lottery is now worth..." and everybody rushes to buy even more tickets!!
  21. Yup!! Yet another voice strongly urging you to TELL!!! As a society we should NOT tolerate bullying!! We don't need yet another silent victim...
  22. Vespa was the first bike I ever had a ride on!! Got to drive a Lambretta after that, both fun scoots for being a teenager...
  23. Jonas, this year is a CARD RAFFLE, not an auction!! This way EVERYBODY has the same chance to win, NOT who has the most money! That being said, yes, I will accept your preorder of up to two cards, they are $5.00 each, and you prepay for the card, I will spot you the money for two cards, but you will owe $10.00 for the two whether you win or loose...
  24. Wonder if they are the same quality of the old Supertech, or do they have some Chinese company cranking out cah cah...
  25. You may have gotten an "old stock" filter and not a newer one, which wouldn't surprise me with you living out in the Boonies...
