  1. Hey, Seafoam is right up there with duct tape...
  2. Hey, thanks for that tip! Haven't changed my ignition module yet but it is high on the list of things for 2013...
  3. Hide the crack with a decal or lettering...
  4. Welcome aboard Brad!! Sounds like a decent enough deal to me! As mentioned the issue could be the connector. A great replacement battery is the DEKA brand which is an AGM, and one of our members, Skydoc 17, Earl, is a distributer and gives us members a great price. As mentioned the stator is relatively easy to replace. There are good aftermarket R/R's available as well. There is plenty of technical info on this site as well as many very helpful prople. To test the stator, disconnect the connector and with an ohmeter yo should see a low resistancfe between any two wire combinations. Each wire to ground should see infinity ohms (open). Switch the meter to AC volts and start the bike. You should see around 40 volts AC between any combination of 2 wires, and they should all be very close in value. If not the stator is bad (like you saw 34V, 21V, 33V).
  5. I wish it was mine, I love that color combination...
  6. Outstanding!!! I would love to see it in person some time!!!
  7. Sorry Yoop, no luck here...
  8. Well, technically when you release the brake and the fluid floes back into the resovoir there is a very slight positive pressure...
  9. There's no pressure to speak of there...
  10. No way!!!! I don't care how fat those phillip screws are! I'm betting if you recheck that 51 is in metric, not Ft Lbs... Just tighten them tight, that's all I do, and I've never lost a screw...
  11. If you are talking the rear brake, I just used a short piece of rubber hose the right diameter, but a SAE size...
  12. This is sort of taxing my memory as to which one is which but there are two vesions of the R/R, one with 7 wires and one with 8. I'm thinking the 8 wire is the older version for MK1 and the newer 7 wire for MK2, but you have an '86 which is MK2 so it must be some of the MK2's used the 8 as well. Anyway, brown is the ignition line. I'm not sure why yours is blowing fuses unless the regulator itself is shorted. With the regulator unhooked, will the bike start and run without blowing fuses? if so your Fleabay R/R is defective...
  13. Dead, huh?? Actually, pythons are becoming a big time problem for Florida...
  14. Sorry, forgot to get back to you the other day. I have 3 left ones, but no right ones. I do have the dash piece that holds the cassette, tuner controller and amp controller, but can't get to it for a couple of weeks, my shed is snowed in...
  15. Last week my snowdrops were blooming. This week they are buried under the snow. Didn't notice my daf's poking up yet though...
  16. Yup, have the vent and would do it again! Unless the temp is above 80 degrees, it gives nice fresh air. If you are having a bug problem, a small piece of screening installed on the opening of the vent fixes that...
  17. PS it's a good time to remove the differential (4 nuts) and drain the differential oil and change, and more important remove the axle and grease the splines. You will need to push the rubber boot back to align the axle back into the splines...
  18. Yah! What Tex said! You need to remove the right muffler, or at least loosen it enough to get it out of the way for the axle to go out all the way. You may or may not want to do the same to the left muffler depending on what kind of tool you use to loosen the nut. To loosen the nut you have to remove the cotter pin. You also have to unbolt the rear barke caliper. There is a pinch bolt on the swing arm on the right side that also secures the rear axle and prevents it from rotating. Yuo will have to jack up the bike enough to get the tire out once the axle is removed. Pay close attention to the spacer on the right side and where it goes, if you put it on wrong when reassembling the brake caliper will bind. I use a phillips screwdriver blade inserted into the hole in the axle on the right side to pull the axle out. If you hammer on the right side to get it started use only a rubber or brass hammer or a block of wood to prevent damage to the threads...
  19. Dang!! You snooze, you loose!!! Hey Rick, why the Sonics over progressives?? I wanted progressives for the same reason Jonsey wants them, to stiffen up the front end on a trike to reduce oscillations from happening...
  20. Wider Clearview shield made a difference to me! I bought the widest and tallest they made. Also, the handlebar adjustment does make a difference. If you buy a Clearview, also get the vent. Their reduced price "blems" are a very good buy...
  21. Not only that, he makes sure he is the first in line so he has an ice cream to eat while he waits in line for the second one...
  22. Hmmm, what if you are not a huge fan of Firestone tires?? IMHO one of the worst made tires in ther industry but I'm sure others will disagree...
  23. I don't do fast food, that stuff will kill you! However, there is a local Mexican fast food chain, Mighty Taco, that I sometimes go to. Love their bean and cheese burritos...
  24. ***sigh*** I'm glad I have a cat...
  25. Might have both, I'll check later this afternoon...
