  2. Sure as h3ll ain't NY...
  3. You are doing good cost wise, it should be worth 3K to 4K with all the bugs worked out. Any old bike needs some kind of work done to it. These bikes are very reliable and last a long time. Several of them have gone over 200,000 miles, I think I can remember someone getting over 300,000. The only possible issues you may have will be failure of the ignition unit or the TCI. Member Dingy sells aftermarket units that work great. The diaphragms on the carbs develop pinholes and improperly stored carbs get all plugged up. I have a video you can borrow about how to properly rebuild your carbs, but parts get expensive but it is worth it. Large doseages of Seafoam work miricles...
  4. Awwwww, wassamatter Tom, no green lawn this time???

  7. When back together the knurled piece should be pointing down and the arm should be diagonal. If you are off a tooth you will notice ithe knurled part does not move as far in one direction as the other direction...
  8. Hmmm, didn't think of that! What I did was take a couple of short pieces of aluminum stock I had laying around and drilled two holes in each, and then threaded one set of holes so I could bolt brackets for the LED strip light...

  11. QUICK!!! Run to the store and buy out all the bread and milk!!! Sorry kids, it's a blizzard so we can only eat bread and milk until it's over...
  12. You can actually add air to the front with progressive springs if you are a high pockets. Most of us are shorties and it is a tall bike so we really don't want the bike any taller, and with the variable rate progressives there is not any need for the extra stiffness the air provides. That's why it was mentioned that air isn't needed. Keep us posted on your progress. If you are just replacing the springs it's pretty easy but if you are going to be replacing bushings etc you need some "special" tools to get the shock completely apart. One of the special tools is just a metric socket on a really long tee handle...
  13. OK here's my take. China will be producing the motorcycle for Yamaha saving them money. Betcha they still raise the price anyway...
  14. The only issue with moving the trunk back is coming up with some spacers for the rear holes as the rear of the trunk will now set on the trunk mount rack. What I did was to use bolts mounted upside down so they stuck thru the holes in the bottom of the trunk, and then used nuts to secure the trunk rather than running the bolts downwards. The bolts are inserted from the bottom of the rack and held by another set of nuts...
  15. Yah! Occassionally the site does wierd things to me too!! One thing that happens quite often is I will hit forum or read a post then hit the category button to return to the listings and I will get a blank page until I scroll down then the page will appear...

  17. Hi Bill!! Wow, I totally forgot the trunk rack is an accessory, it's been on the trunk so long I thought it came with the bike! I'm thinking it was probably the first thing I put on it...

  23. Your cracked circuit board may be fixable by anyone who has soldering talent and some single strand wire. Where the traces are cracked you strip away the green, tin the trace, and lay a piece of wire over the crack. When done spray the board with clear lacquer or enamal to make it waterproof and you should be good to go. Otherwise keep watching fleabay for controllers but be prepared to pay around $60 give or take...
  24. Have you considered a trike?? I can still do 2 wheels but with physical problems I am glad I converted...
  25. WOW!! Here's hoping Harley honors it's warranty...
