Yes, definately could fail! It can be repaired several ways. As stated, the chrome stuff looks to be in great shape, I guess part of the consideration would be how much you paid, including shipping, for the item. It's very hard to find a hitch for under $100, and the saddlebag guards are worth $50 - $100 as well...

Carl, I'm temporarily stopped with Goldie waitin g on those $50 nylon bushings, and a swingarm bolt that magically disappeared! For the last 3 days I've been sorting nuts, bolts, and screws. I did polish some of the chrome, and decided to repaint the black area on the rear bumper Gold as the black is chipped...

Just putting in stiffer springs, haven't decided between sonics or progressives, to try to help minimize oscillations, installing R1 calipers and 14mm master with ss lines, and installing flanders bar with barons risers as well...

I know which piece he is talking about foer the clutch lever, it's that black piece that snaps over the bolt and covers the switch. I had several of them but gave them all away last summer when I gave away the '85 project bike...
