  1. Yes there WILL be the annual fall foliage ride this year!!!
  2. I'm not totally sure on that one Mike, one would think that unless the circuit is complete nothing would happen, but there is that possibility I would suppose! I also would assume that Dave would have connected the Black wire to the battery minus or ground, but we both know how to spell ass u me...
  3. Noel, there is several possibilities that can be going on. Yes, the fuel pump can be thermally sensitive but so can the "fuel pump" relay! The fuel pump relay is the one on the right side of those 5 relays across the front of the fairing front frame, or to the left if you are standing in front of the bike and looking at it. First, a little info on the fuel pump relay, which is more than just a relay. On the primary circuit of the relay there is a 5 second countdown circuit that allows voltage to the fuel pump. Along with this circuit there is another detector circuit that is looking for the presence of ignition spark. As long as spark is detected the relay stays closed keeping voltage to the fuel pump. If spark is not detected then the relay is opened shutting off voltage to the fuel pump. The count down timer is engaged every time you turn the key back on. OK, armed with this information, here's what to do. Have a 12 volt source available such as a spare battery or a pair of wires from your battery ready and warm the bike up until the symptom comes back. As soon as it stalls out, turn the key off for a few seconds to a minute and then back on and listen for the fuel pump to click for a few seconds. If it does not click, apply 12 volts directly to the fuel pump wires and listen for clicks. If it does click then your overpriced fuel pump relay is bad. If it does not click then your fuel pump may be thermally sensitive and needs replacing. Now keep in mind there could be some other kind of problem and your carbs may be full of gas which will also prevent the fuel pump from clicking but that is remote...
  4. Mike I will answer that one for Dave. We discovered that the green wire is, or should be, just a ground for the case of the R/R to shield it from emitting noise into an audio system, etc. I also advised him to not connect the red and black together but rather put the red wire to the battery positive, and the black wire to either the battery minus or to ground. I wanted him to try his meter on a different system as there is the remote possibility it could be out of calibration. I had one that when the battery was low would have some readings out in left field...
  5. I forgot that there is a benefit that day for our neighbor's daughter that day. She has, or should I say had cancer and received both chemo and radiation treatments. She has two children of her own and the bills are really piling up! I have decided to support this function instead of MD this year. Our neighbor is a very good one, she lets us store the trike in her garage over the winter, and our trailer is stored in her shed. We also store our lawn furniture in her shed over the winter as well...
  6. Yup! Went there right after they opened it! Took a bunch of pictures, learned a lot!
  7. Quite possibly, but first either try a different meter or use your meter on your car and see what kind of readings you get. With the bike not running what does it read??
  8. Yah! Even brand new bikes eventually become older and require little things...
  9. Looks great my friend!!!
  10. Well, day late and a dollar short, story of my life, but HAPPY (Belated) BIRTHDAY Don!!!
  11. Yes, I can agree with Dano! I don't think it's a case of "Look at me!" for the response but rather letting people know we as a family care! It can and should also act as an encouragement to others to think about helping out as well. I've yet to see a post bragging about exactly how much anybody gave but rather words of encouragement and heartfelt emotions. On the other hand yes I know what the Bible has to say about giving and that we are not to strut around all puffed up about it, but rather not to let the left hand know what the right hand is doing, and that we should give in private and secretly so as not to bring glory to ourselves...
  12. You can save a little money by having the conversion done at the Hannigan factory! If I recall I saved around $2000. Of course I spent a thousand on a trailer and the other thousand on gas, lodging, and dining but we had a nice vacation, went to Nashville, and met some really nice local VR members while down there. Even had one member actually lend me his RSV for the day!!! The savings comes from the extra cost of Hannigan shipping the kit to your local dealer. There is freight and crate costs involved...
  13. You may end up having to replace your 30 year old fuel pump, the points inside are probably shot. There are a few aftermarket units that will work out for you...
  14. That would be a bit of a ride for him Rob! Yes, that is a pretty pricey battery indeed! Go with the Deka battery for half the price! Member Skydoc_17 is a distributer for them and will give you an excellent price delivered right to your doorstep. Just give Earl a PM...
  15. Either that of time for custom paint effects...
  16. The lights for that aftermarket "chin" (non-Yamaha) are drag specialties...
  17. OK by the looks of them I'm thinking they promote bell effect for the intake air which provides scavenger effect and may also reduce the total air intake by reducing the diameter and in turn make the mixture slightly richer but I'm not sure on that. I'm sure promoting bell effect will have some sort of positive effect but I doubt you would notice it...
  18. Also try Fleabay...
  19. Nah, the '09 Raven and Seashell is faster! Yes Brian, the 2nd Gen is a whole different world! They are top heavy at low speeds, a little less throttle responsive than a 1st gen, and to me a little too wide in the seat, but a lot more comfortable for long distance riding and require a lot less maintenance than a 20 - 30 year old bike! Besides, I can flat foot a 2nd gen unlike a 1st gen. Absolutely love the color! No start spending bucks on creature comforts! Yes, the radio can be intimidating but once you get your presets figured out and how to tune the radio, it works great!
  20. Let them know you posted their incompetence on a 10,000+ member website and that they just lost a lot of perspective customers...
  21. Hmmm, sorry Lewis, I already have 2 shirts and a pin. They are really nice shirts though, so anybody that doesn't already have one should get one!!!
  22. Wow Carl, the way your luck is going, better buy a lottery ticket!!
  23. Well, XXL in China is about a L in US...
  24. Is Rick going to be doing any mods at MD?? I'll bring my seat along if he is...
