I have Irish ancestry. The Butler was the ruler of Ireland. The original family name was Fitzwalter but they ruled for long enough that they changed the name to Butler. They had a blood feud with the Fitzgeralds which makes the Hatfield/ McCoy feud look minor. It went for centuries and each side was sworn to kill on sight any of the other side. A priest finally ended the feud by building a stone wall down the middle of his church with a hole in the wall. Each side entered by separate entrances so they could not see each other then the leaders shook hands through the hole in the wall. Last year my wife dyed my hair bright green for the day. Since I am beyond grey and into silver it really glowed.

I am most of the way through getting permits to own handguns. Since there is a huge resource of gun knowledge here I would be interested in any comments or advice. Right now I am considering a Smith and Wesson 357 which also shoots 38 magnum plus ammo. I would also like to get a 22 lr semi auto for plinking. Bear in mind that I will not be carrying these weapons other than to and from the shooting range so I am thinking a 6 inch barrel would be best.

Saved $300.00 by going to Megson Fitzpatrick in Victoria. We have to get the basic from ICBC ( government insurance) but you can get extras from private sources.

Exhaust noise
Sailor replied to mralex714's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Had problems with the left front cylinder. Seafoam fixed it. -
Lukeooo, you can't be that young, you are old enough to ride. I hate people in a restaurant yapping loudly on their cellphones. parents who let their kids run wild in a restaurant, people who block the aisle while talking to friends. Women who, when I courteously open a door for them either ignore me or tell me I am a male chauvinist pig and they can open their own ******* doors. People who have no sense of humour.

We use the Abbotsford/Sumas crossing here in B.C. Also the Victoria/ Pt Washington crossing on the Coho ferry. Few waits unless you get the snot nosed kid or the bald guy.

Took the Merc to a car show in Sidney. Janet came along. Next day I had to take the truck back to pick up the couch, love seat, armchair, coffee table, end tables, lamps and cushions she had bought while the show was on. Last time I took her to a car show.

When I was young and horny, long, long ago, I used to make up excuses not to go to my girlfriends house for dinner. Her mother had no idea how to cook. It was all Ye Olde English style, boil it for six hours then boil it some more, regardless of what it was. My wife, "She Who Must Be Obeyed", has two sisters who must also be obeyed. When they get together to cook a dinner the knives come out and orders and counter orders fly. Dissent and rebellion are the order of the day. Us cowardly men go and find a safe pub to hide in. Somehow the meal always ends up being fantastic and with hardly any blood or broken dishes in sight. I love going to Aunties place in England. She is real old school. The gentleman gets served a before dinner drink, the gentleman gets seated first at the head of the table, the gentleman gets served first, the gentleman gets served an after dinner drink while the ladies clear the table and clean up. There is usually steam coming out of SWMBO's ears by the end of it. Unfortunately it is Olde English cooking...boiled for 6 hours. One time Janet, her two sisters and myself were all there for dinner. There was so much steam you would have thought you were in a sauna.

Got the Merc on the road, got the Venture on the road, took them both for a spin. Now sitting on the deck in 73 degrees and not a cloud in sight. Did I mention the glass of scotch? Bonus...saved $300.00 on insurance by going through Megson-Fitzpatrick instead of ICBC. ( Government insurance) Got frost last night for the second time this winter, I would think winter is over except that I know that since I have my two toys on the road we will get at least two weeks of rain.

Mine has a whine but it is not bad and it is only in a certain rev range. You soon get used to it. My friends triumphs, he has two, are way louder.

Rick...only mentally Kevin....I only feel like it.

We just took that route on our way back from Sedona. Nice run. Unfortunately the boss has put her foot down and my head was under it at the time, looks like we will be heading north to Clinton and 100 mile. Next time!!!!! my birthday was Feb 19, turned everybody's favorite number. You know what it is.

Love it, a mini version of my car. Would like it in candy apple red like mine.

Just saw news about longer lineups at the U.S. border due to budget cuts. Looking at the news about Anhouser-Buch watering down their beer perhaps I should take the truck and fill it with cases of beer, a humanitarian run.

Well if Kevin, Rick and Nina are going I may be able to join in. It would be an overnighter. We have tentative plans to go to Clinton and 100 mile for that weekend but they are not firmed up yet. Getting from my island to Kevins island then over to Big-Stink-Across-the-Water ( local name for Vancouver) takes a while. I will have to check with SWMBO first.

I need your opinions
Sailor replied to Pretty Hips McGee's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Bought my '02 in '02. I am 5ft 10 and 260 lbs and I found the high windshield to be too big. I bought a lower one and like it better. I have found the stock seat to be very comfortable. SWMBO finds the rear seat comfortable. As a safety precaution I got rid of the intercom, all the driving instructions were driving me nuts. The power is good if you are in the right gear. I have had it past the end of the spedo more than once and it is rock solid at speed. Get good tires. I run Avons and the bike feels lighter. It is heavy which takes getting used to. Didn't realize just how big the bike is until I wound up parked next to some Harleys, gee they are small. -
If you have any time to spare Sedona is great ( south of Flagstaff) Janet and I were there in Nov/Dec. We stayed near Cottonwood. Jerome, Tuzigoot, Montezumas castle, all within easy riding.

The stock market has highs and lows but on average it slowly goes up. I went in for long term. My stocks are generally solid low yield and slow growth but rarely go down for long. I have bonds to balance the stocks. Generally if stocks go up bonds go down and vice versa so it balances out. Even in the post 911 crash I was back up to even within 6 months. My son who had the same stocks sold at the bottom and lost half of what he had. Kids, when will they ever listen? I have a balanced portfolio and I like energy and oil stocks as this is something we will always need and there are considerable tax breaks.

So all the women in the wife store are 18 and have rich daddies?

I need a Stebel chrome dual air horn ?
Sailor replied to FuzzyRSTD's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Got a Wolo Bad Boy from J&P Cycles. Not expensive, chrome and LOUD. I love watching the cagers in dreamland drop their I phones and lattes when I hit the horn. -
Once you have gone through all the great Canadian comedies you can move on to the great British ones. Fawlty Towers, The Two Ronnies, Doc Martin, Little Britain, etc. There are a couple good Irish ones to. Dave Allen and Mrs Brown or Mrs Browns Boys.

Neat video but what is all that white stuff?

I don't think there is a real shortage of anything. Someone says they are running out of toilet paper so everyone rushes down and buys all they can and guess what, they run out of toilet paper. Someone says they are running out of gas so everyone rushes down and gets in line to buy as much as they can and guess what, they run out of gas. Someone says they are running out of ammo so everyone buys up all they can and guess what, they run out of ammo. 6 months later there is lots of toilet paper, gas and ammo. I just hope the gougers get stuck with a large supply of stuff they don't need and can't use.
