When I was a kid it was so cold that when you farted it would freeze solid. We would carry it into the school and hide it under the teachers chair where it would slowly thaw out. I could never figure out why I got the strap so many times.
-
Why back in the day I would leave for school and my mom would blow me a kiss. dang thing would freeze half way to me and fall and shatter on the ice. I now have one steel knee and one real knee. In cold weather the steel one clanks and clunks and the real one moans and groans.

Don't worry about your head getting twisted around. Mine has been that way ever since I got married. It is when your knickers get in a twist that things start to get painful.

Got an e-mail notice that someone started an i cloud account using our apple account ID. Problem is we don't have an apple account. When I checked it out it is a virus. If you get this notice don't open it.

It was just a little deer and the cougar didn't leave us much.

A few years ago some idiot set some bunnies loose on the island and we were overrun with them. We also have far too many deer. The owls, eagles and cougar keep the rabbit population under control. This is the second time I have found a fresh deer kill next to the house. There is also a bear on the island. There is such plentiful wildlife that they never bother the sheep or pets so we don't bother them.

Got an early Christmas present this year. Went out to the Legion last night and won a prime rib and a few pounds of hamburger. Great! This morning Janet went outside an found a freshly killed and partly eaten deer stuffed under our deck. Not so great! I figure a cougar killed it last night and we disturbed it when we came home so it shoved the carcass under the deck intending to return for it later.

I was on FB some time ago. I lasted a whole month before I got fed up and left.

Yeah. Does your wife know you were in the woods? Who with? What's her name? How long were you out there? Where did you meet her? Is she that blond? You are never leaving this house again!

I have yet to have a conversation with a woman where she has not interrupted me......first to tell me what I am going to say then to tell me why I am wrong.

Retirement is great. Only thing is you will get so busy you won't know how you ever had time to go to work. It is all good so enjoy but beware the trap. "OH, so-and-so is retired, he has lots of time, lets get him to help/do it."

Almost forgot.....if you launch 6 lawsuits and lose them you become a "vexatious litigant" and have to apply to the supreme court for permission to launch another lawsuit. We have a multimillionaire developer, a newcomer, who has bought property next to our rod and gun club. He has sued us multiple times trying to destroy the club but the locals and others have rallied to us. He has now lost 3 times and we are working on the next three. Our club has been part of the community for 101 years and we are not giving up without a fight. It is close financially but I think we can hang in there.
-
Don't worry folks. I strongly suspect he will be lurking here ready to pounce, poke and prod.

We don't have as many lawsuits here. The lawyers are not allowed contingency fees. If you want to sue you have to pay up front and if you lose you may have to pay all the defendants legal fees. It cuts out a lot of BS.

Culling the gene pool. I do enjoy reading the Darwin Awards.

Thinking I am going to have to downsize the bike. Considering an offer on the hot rod. Time to re-group and thin the heard.

It is all relative. We were in New Orleans one December. The buskers were bundled up in overcoats, hats, scarves, gloves with the fingers cut off so they could still play their instruments. They thought we were crazy walking about in our tee shirts and jeans. It was 65-70F.

OK, I confess, we finally got snow for the first time in 3-4 years. Go ahead and laugh but before you do consider this. Being retired ( my wife pronounces it " retard") I have no place to go and nothing to do. Sitting in the recliner looking out at the snow falling silently on the trees and lake. got a fire in the stove, a good book, a warm brandy and BB King singing "Sittin' on top of the world". That is snow...Saltspring style.

You may have bruised ribs. The cure for that is rest and patience. All the best and take it easy. Nothing is so important it can't wait, well ok, supper and the doctor.
-
Take it easy and get lots of rest, you will heal faster. Your infernal device seems to be working fine, it has even reached all the way to Saltspring island. For the first time in years I am looking out at some white stuff. Only 1/2 inch but I went so far as to dig out the winter tires and put them on the truck. Keep well and aim that thing the other way.

A couple days ago a friend sent me a video of one running. sounded good.

I remember 10 cent beer, $2.00 for a tank of gas. Back then my mid month paycheque was $100.00 and the month end was $95.00. I paid $50.00 a month for room and board and $ 50.00/month for a new sports car and had lots left over. It has been downhill ever since.

On one hand new technology has helped me with my quality of life. I had cataracts and astigmatism and was going blind. I now have silicone implants ( in my eyes !) that cured all those problems. I have a steel plate in my ankle and a steel replacement knee and will be getting the other one done in the spring. I had cancer and was not expected to live but I am still here 10 years later. On the other hand I enjoy driving and at one time had a racing license. I do not like the idea of a self driving car, too many things can go wrong. Who has not had a computer crash on them? Cars today are more mobile entertainment systems than enjoyable driving experiences. I have never been able to afford a new car and always buy second hand. How reliable are these electronic cars going to be when they are 10-12 years old? While wage increases do raise costs I think it is up to good management to make a company succeed. In the company I used to work for in 1990 we had 150 managers and 4000 full time employees. In 1992 we had 300 managers and 4000 full time employees. Now there are about 700 managers and 2000 full time employees and 2000 part time employees. This is a transportation company and every year the fares go up, some by 50-100%. The employees wages have gone up by 1-2% per year and management blames all its problems on the employees. Every time they introduce new technology they introduce more managers to supervise it and expect the present employees to take it on along with their regular duties while the managers give themselves large bonuses. Neither I nor my wife have cell phones. We have an answering machine. We use the phone at our convenience, not some telemarketers. We don't wast time with video games, we have too much living to do and time is getting short. We do use the computer but find it very frustrating at times. OK, end of rant. Some technology good, some a waste of time and money.

That is one heck of a bargain. Jack the price up by $2000.00. That will get rid of the flippers and when they complain about the paint you can knock $500-$1000 off the price and make them happy.
