    Problem

'02 Venture. It is the panel just above the passengers floorboard on the right side. There are two fasteners. One came out easily and the other won't budge. I have tried WD 40, cooling it, heating it, and nothing works. I suspect there is a short in a wire behind it as when the ignition is on if I wiggle a wire the horn honks.
  2. Some time ago I read a report that tried to figure out why motorcycle deaths had increased. After taking all factors into consideration they were left with the conclusion that the only real change had been the increase in mini vans and suvs on the road. When a biker hits a car he is usually thrown over the roof and survives. When he hits an suv or mini van he gets thrown into the vehicle and chances of survival are far lower.

    Problem

I need to take off a side panel but one fastener is being obstinate. I have tried penetrating oil but with no result. Any suggestions short of drilling it out?
  4. I used to take people out sailing and teach them the basics. When they ask how long it takes to learn to sail I tell them "The day you stop learning is the day you die". I think the same applies to motorcycles. I also tell them a car compares to a motorcycle the same as a power boat compares to a sailboat.
  5. I am all for Cascadia which has B.C., Washington, Oregon, California and Alaska forming their own country. Although I would swap California for Alberta.
  6. My wife's brother lives there. We have visited few times. Beautiful countryside in the fall when the leaves turn. Some day we want to get back and tour the east coast.
  7. My son just returned after 6 years in the " Center of the Known Universe", AKA Toronto, AKA Tarrana, AKA New York north. He says it is great to be back to civilization after the wastelands of Ontario.
  8. When I worked at the airport in Vancouver the push out tractors were auto but with a difference. There was a stick but it was for the steering. 1st was front wheel steering, 2nd was for front and rear counter steering ( could sit in one spot and spin 360) and 3rd was for front and rear synchronized steering ( could drive sideways).
  9. Waaaay back when I learned on a stick. Most cars were stick as auto cost extra. At that time if you passed your test on an auto you were restricted to auto. Most cars now come with auto and stick is special order. In Europe most cars are still stick. A few times I have been over there and rented a car. I always got priority service because all the American tourists ahead of me could not drive stick so I got moved to the front of the line while they had to wait for an auto to be returned.
  10. Perhaps, but you would have to take Celine Dion.
  11. "Dry heat". Isn't that what a turkey gets while it is being roasted in the oven?
  12. Went for a ride today. Saltspring to Port Renfrew on Vancouver Island. Nice 80 degrees on Saltspring. Nice 75 in Port Renfrew. Over 100 going over the hump between them.

    Horn

Wolo horn has stopped working. I used it a lot last year during the toy run. How can I find out if it is the horn or the relay?
  14. Why you smart ass whippersnapper!!!!
  15. OK. I will make sure to have lots of coal to stoke the furnace and get the steam pressure up.
  16. I do not know how to post pictures but you can google Saltspring island car club and see lots of pictures of past events. You can also google Saltspring island toy run and see a bunch of pictures of the toy run. You can go to you tube and see videos of the toy run. I think they are both on facebook which I am not. If you are going to come over and browse around give me a shout. My wife works part time for a real estate agent.
  17. According to the salesman it was a standard 2 wheel drive, not worth much. It actually had everything I wanted 4x4, 5 speed, heavy duty, tow package etc. so I took him at his word and bought it cheap.
  18. I was on the deck when a woman came up to me and asked.... "How long is it?" I replied " Isn't that a rather personal question?" She blushed and said " No, I mean how long does it take?" I said " Well now, that all depends" She went even redder and said "No,No, How long until we get to the next stop?" I told her and she took off with a blazing red face.
  19. We are working on setting up for our toy run the last weekend of August. As Santa I set the route. Some of our paved roads are not as smooth as we would like but nothing to bother anyone, except Harleys. Each year I get a handful of complaints from the Harley riders about rough pavement, no one else even notices.
  20. My 02 has a standard 5 speed and an extra lever for the 4x4 shift. 4x4 low, 4x4 high, neutral and 2 wheel drive. don't know about the newer ones.

    Crash bars

Are you saying the first gens are thick, or just the owners? Sorry, just could not resist.
  22. Working on our Canada Day car show. Got to juggle the hot rod and bike to get them both in there. Going to be a bigger than ever show.
  23. Bought an 02 dodge 4x4 in spite of the salesman. He informed me it was not a 4x4 when I could clearly see it was. He told me it was just standard when I could see it had heavy duty suspension, factory tow hitch which meant heavy duty cooling etc. Since it obviously did not have the things I wanted I got it cheap.
  24. Some time ago I read that when Harley wanted to improve the quality of their engines they were unable to find a manufacturer in the US who would produce it in the tolerances they wanted. The volume just did not justify it. I understand they have the parts manufactured in Japan and they are assembled in the US. A manager for a shoe store confided that Harley boots are made by Hush Puppy. Whatever works. My brother in law is a die hard Harley fan. I was visiting them recently and parked my Venture next to his Harley when my sister came out she remarked that my bike was much bigger than his. You could have cut the silence with a knife.
