  1. I don't need help lowering front end, thanks to Freebird's write up, I already lowered it 1" and think it's great. In fact I like it so much that I am thinking of lowering it another 1/2". So my question is has anyone out there lowered yours 1" and then decided to lower it more, and if so what was your opinion. Is it worth the extra work?
  2. As far as the locking up goes.. have you checked to be sure the cooling fans are all working? Like the CPU fan and the power supply fan? I take care of 65 computers at work and the biggest reason they start locking up is bad fans.
  3. The main reason the big 3 are in serious trouble is not because of the unions, it is because their sales are very low, and have been for quite some time. If their sales were hot then they would be so busy building cars that the ineffeciencies of the older union laborers would be masked by the huge profits they would be making. The truth is that for the most part people do not feel like they would be buying a quality vehicle from the big 3, my opinion is that except for their trucks, they are crapmobiles. I work for Subaru and I can tell you that they are quality fanatics around here. The reason we build such quality vehicles here is because management plans it, insists it is designed that way, has put numerous checks in place all along the production process, and demands it. They have banners all over the place, weekly talks, and constant looking over the shoulder for QUALITY, and ZERO DEFECTS, I think you get the picture. We build Camry's for Toyota and it is the exact same way with them, this is how the big 3 should have been. I have nothing but respect for the Japanese, they work incredible hours, are always friendly and never complain. We have a lot to learn from them.
  4. Got mine at mchitch.com
  5. The next time I replace the tire I am going to order some of the Honda Moly and regrease everything. Thanks!
  6. I only had some Slick50 grease with PTFE so I used it, The splines did not appear to be worn and I was surprised at how much grease was on them, at both ends of the drive shaft. I replaced the gear lube, it looked new and there was practically nothing on the plug magnet. All in all I was very happy with what I saw. I pulled the large boot back just in front of the swingarm/plastic plug to see the U-joint and I turned the shaft back and forth and did not see any play or hear/feel anything unusual. I greased the large wheel bearing, and both bearings felt smooth. Maybe the noise is normal, I just got the bike recently so I am not sure . The only thing that I was not sure about was where to position the axle shaft before tightening the pinchbolt, When I first removed the axle bolt the swingarm forks spread apart at least 1/4". I did not put it back like that as I was afraid of cracking the swingarm by squeezing the forks together too much. The manual said nothing about it.
  7. I think that sounds do-able, thanks!
  8. I noticed a noise coming from the rear end area when slowing down and coasting with clutch pulled in, I thought it was coming from the hub splines and pins needing greased so I pulled the rear wheel and greased them both. The sound is still there, it is a lower pitched sound that kind of warbles. So now I am wondering if it might be the u-joint as the bike has 57K. Does anyone know what is involved in checking u-joint for wear, or even replacing if it needs it?
  9. I have a 99 RSV that has 57K miles, it runs great but the bike is almost 10 years old and I am thinking it is about time to replace all of the coolant hoses and maybe bearings, etc. I was wondering where everyone orders their stock parts from. My last bike was a VTX and there was a website 'HDL.com' that everyone recommended. Also can anyone think of anything else that they would recommend be replaced on a bike with fairly high miles?
  10. Thanks everyone for your help!!
  11. Yea that's what I meant, the Yamaha Passing lamps, my last bike had H3 or H4 25W Halogen bulbs in them that I ordered from a Honda parts website.
  12. I just bought a 99 Venture and the light bar bulbs are very dim, I suspect they have never been changed and are wore out so to speak. Was wondering what type of bub to get, suspect H4 and what wattage is stock. Also anyone know of a decent place to order from?
