How 'bout that warning light in the upper left area of the LCD panel? I bought this very clean '85 from a local for $800 , but he didn't have an owner's manual. The only issue I have is that little red warning light. He monkeyed around with the tail light wires adding chrome junk and now only the brake light works (no running or signals). I've cleaned the wires up by removing everything that wasn't O.E.M. and checking all connectors. I don't know if the lights have any effect on the warning light or not. Any ideas while I'm waiting on a factory manual to arrive?

Hey man, I know you've never talked about this before, but........... a mamber put me on to you because I'm swapping out a 1200 with a 1300 and I hear you know something about that. I sure do need some tips! I'm an above average M/C mechanic, but there's always somebody out ther better with a head full of smarts. And you're, no doubt, the man! Would you please help me out?

When you say "undercutting", are you talking about shaving .001" or .002" off the tip of the dogs?

How would you know how much wear is left? And, how would you be able to measure the washer? Also, I wonder why more people wouldn't do that rather than wait for certain disaster??? I'm not being facetious, I'd really like to know because I'm also living on borrowed time and would like to prevent bending shifting forks and shafts.

Thanks man! You made up my mind for me. I'm sticking with what I have. Duffle bags are cheap and work pretty good. I appreciate that Condor. By the way Condor, what are those little things on the leading edges of your wings? Can't quite make them out.

HEY! I bought me a good running, low mile, '87 1300 cc engine for $340. I'm gonna go ahead and smoke the 1200 until 2nd gear cogs blow through the cases.....and just laugh about it! Now I can worry about other thing for awhile. Thanks for all your help guys!!!

Great! How would I go about getting in touch with GONE14S?

Yep, that's me. VERY early '85 with the soft serial number. I guess I'll just sell this thing and get a 1986 or better. The cut-off ser # ends in 1413 and mine is lower. Hey, I appreciate the info. What you say makes sense. Thanks!

I've noticed a LOT of concern for the soft thrust split washer on 2nd gear (and rightly so). Rather than take a chance on wasting a motor, why couldn't we just skip 2nd (except when in a tight) since there's power to spare? I realize that it takes a lot of the fun out of riding, but replacing the motor isn't much fun either. Just a thought.......

I prefer leaving the side engine panels off my '85 in cold weather. But in order to "clean up" the engine area, I'd like to remove the black support tube/bar that attaches to the frame and runs accross the bottom of the jugs front to back. Question is, does that bar do any more than support the plastic panels? I really can't see where it could play a more vital roll than that. Any input would be appreciated!

I'm not sure what you mean by "solid mounts." What kind of difference are you talking about?

My Venture is a 1985 and I'd like to swap out the 1200cc engine with a 1300cc from a 1988 Venture. Are there any issues that would prevent the newer engine from working out OK? I think you all know why................
