  1. Wasn't the FJR a Yamaha? That may sound like a strange question but remember the cruisers are now Stars. I got an email from Star yesterday announcing the 2016 lineup. Surely there must be more to come. If not, Yamaha seems to have given up completely on the large touring market and for that matter, large cruisers.
  2. Sorry, none of the rooms have single beds
  3. Yes, they finally brought it back up last fall. It's full again. Actually down just a few feet right now which they typically do this time of the year. During regular season though, it is completely full.
  4. You have most likely missed the yoke when putting the driveshaft back in. The u-joint will drop down and it is possible to insert the drive shaft and miss the yoke. I've been there and done that.
  5. I just looked to make sure. 8 private bedrooms. Each with a TV/DVR. The boat is 87' long and 22' wide.
  6. Yes, 8 bedrooms. Look at the link I posted. 4 with King Size beds, 4 with queen size. We could have a drawing to let people pick their rooms. HUGE kitchen and living area. 15 person hot tub on top deck. I would have to look at the link again but I think it is an 87 ft. boat. We walked through it today....VERY nice. They actually say that it sleeps 18 but that includes the sofa bed in the living room. So I'm thinking 8 couples so that everybody has their own bedroom. Eileen and I would bring the Waverunners and share them freely. If somebody want's to bring a smaller runabout type boat, that would be great too. We usually find a secluded cove...there are MANY on Cumberland...to park the houseboat and then use the Waverunners or a smaller boat to make trips to the marina and etc.
  7. Any interest in a Houseboat Trip sometime in 2016? Spring, Summer or Fall? Eileen and I have been at Lake Cumberland, KY since Friday. We will leave either Thursday or Friday and have had a great time. This is the 4th or 5th time that we have done this. I think we have rented houseboats 4 times now and brought our boat down here once. Anyway, we love it here and that got us to thinking and wondering if there would be any interest in some of you joining us here sometime next summer. It is NOT cheap but split evenly among enough couples, not much more than hotel rooms. We looked at a boat today at State Dock Marina. I will include a link to it below so that you can check it out. It has 8 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. Depending upon the time of year that we decide to do this, it would cost us all between $650.00 - $950.00 per couple plus gas, food, etc. So, is there any interest at all? If we can't find 8 couples, we can go with a smaller boat to accommodate how ever many we do have. I know that next summer is a long way off but I'm just trying to see if there is any interest. http://www.statedock.com/visit-the-marina/houseboats/state-dock-1000-mega-cat/
  8. Those are just very cool bikes. I'm afraid my back wouldn't like them now days.
  9. Yea, they also offered that motor in a street bike version for a while. Never rode one though. The little sight glass worked well. The only time I had problems was when I was riding off road and had it good and hot. Then it could be temperamental to start and would sometimes kick the crap out of me even when I thought I had it lined up. Most of the time, I wouldn't even look at it because you learn where it is by feel after a while. Loved that bike though. Would actually buy another one if I came across one in good condition and reasonably priced. Another thing, am I thinking about another bike or did it use the frame for the oil reservoir?
  10. Mr. Puc, I see that you didn't mention the older Yamaha 500 4 strokes? If you did, I just missed it. One of my all time favorite bikes was my old Yamaha Thumper. Not even sure what year it was but I think I owned it in the early to mid 80's. This one was the street legal version but I spent many great times with it on the trails. It was a torque monster. A bit finicky to start because if you didn't have that piston in the top position, it would kick the crap out of you. It sprained my ankle more than once. I loved that bike though. At that time, I lived less than 5 miles from where I worked so also rode it to work very often.
  11. Personally, I would just buy a good used replacement engine. They are not hard to find and can generally be had for somewhere less than a thousand bucks for a nice low mileage one. It will likely have more miles on it than the one you have but much simpler.
  12. Would be great to meet up but I have no idea where we will be. We have rented a houseboat for all next week and pick it up later today. Plan to find a secluded place to park it and have no idea where that will be.
  13. I don't doubt that. She is wanting to come home where she isn't beat up on.
  14. I'm at a hotel in Somerset, KY. I saw this bike sitting out front later last night and this morning. It has Florida plates. I tell you, if this person rode this bike from Florida to Somerset, KY, he has my admiration Now maybe it's somebody who just moved here and is working here or something, I have no idea. I watched for the rider and never saw him. I tell you though, I could have done that ride on that bike when I was maybe 16 - 20 years old but no way would I do it now. It's a Triumph. Look at those knobby tires. Not only that but it has been raining here for 3 days.
  15. No, must have been some static on the line.
  16. waiting for VentureRider blah blah....the actual complete details may or may not help. Exactly what was the blah blah if it happens again. That does bring up another point though. I assumed that it was the actual forum that people are having an issue with. You said that you saw the delay on the home page though. So how many people are talking about http://www.venturerider.org I usually come directly to the forum page and seldom enter from the home page. That being said, I have tried a few times over the past hour to go directly to the home page and again, it loaded fine. I've never waited even 5 seconds, much less 43 seconds.
  17. That's what makes it so hard to track these things. I'm at a hotel now in Somerset, KY and the internet connection here is only fair but the site is still working just fine for me.
  18. They are turned on now. I'll leave it on for a couple of days and see if it makes a difference. I personally don't like it on as I like viewing the forum full screen. So far, it has made no difference that I can see. This post submitted almost instantly. I'm editing it now to add this.
  19. That is something I'll have to check. That was the next thing I was going to ask, what features are turned on that may cause the issue. I have mine set to not load the sidebars at all so maybe that's an issue. I'll have to turn them on and see what affect it has. The thing is, I've made no changes to the software nor added any new feature for probably a year or more.
  20. WOW...you think that 2344ms is SLOW. It's loading a LOT of stuff and that translates to 2.3 seconds. Sorry, I don't consider that very slow.
  21. I agree that sodium is the biggest culprit. I was on blood pressure medicine in my mid 30s. I stopped using a salt shaker. That's it. I do half try to watch what I eat but I don't search for low salt foods and etc. I simply don't ever touch a salt shaker. I was raised in a home where you salted everything before even tasting it so it was a bit of an adjustment for me. It was a very short time though before I never missed it and now foods often taste too salty. At any rate, I was off the blood pressure medicine about 60 days after that. I am 60 years old now and my blood pressure is still good. I know that it likely doesn't work for a lot of people but I would much rather put the salt shaker down than take a drug every day. I was about 35 years old when I quit the salt so it has worked for 25 years.

  23. It is not really unusual for there to be network problems that affect some and not others. It could be anywhere between your computer and where our site is hosted. That's why it may affect some and not others. I'm not saying that is the issue, I have no idea. If it IS the issue though, it can be hard to find and is really up to the various providers to isolate the problem. About the only thing you can do to determine if that is the case is to "ping" VentureRdier.org and it should show you where in the route that things are getting slowed down.
  24. I did send a message to our host. They are very good about checking things out when I ask but they found no issues at all. I've seen no issues either and have accessed the site from several different hotels and other places. Sorry folks, I don't know what might be causing it. This is the response from our hosting company. 25. Different bikes Condor. There is a Heritage Softail and there was a Springer Softail. The Springer was discontinued several years back. That's a shame because it was one of my favorites from a styling standpoint though it did not always get high marks for handling.
