  1. So while shopping for a bike, I was wondering if there were any years of RSV that had known issues that perhaps I should avoid. Generally looking at 2005-2012. Thanks ReinyRooster
  2. Of all the RSVs that I am looking at trying to pick one to buy, only one has a centre stand.......don't know where he got it. Some time ago I thought someone on this site was making and selling them........anybody making them or have a link to where you can get one? Thanks ReinyRooster
  3. Now there's a couple of names I remember.....troublemakers if I remember correctly......LOL. Can't wait to sell the Wing and pick up another RSV.
  4. Good day everyone! I'm back. Left about 2 years ago......had first one hip replaced......didnt think I could or would ride again so I sold my 06RSV........quickly learned that I was wrong so thought I would try a newer 1800 Wing. Have had 3 Ventures and now 2 Wings over the years. Had the other hip replaced this April and the Wing, as nice and smooth and powerful as it is, is just too heavy and hard for me to get on and off of. She's a great bike but......I miss my RSV so I have the Wing up for sale and have been shopping....have a few on my mind, just have to sell the Wing first. Will also be getting a new knee somewhere in the not-too-distant future. Don't know how many of the "old crew" are still here. Anyway, I'm here and you're stuck with me again.
  5. Hope I'm not breaking any rules here.....since I sold my bike a few months ago, I have listed stuff that I have left....and it's still sitting in the garage on a table. I need to clean up my garage. Anything that I have listed in the classifieds is 50% off the current list price. I'd rather sell if to you guys then strangers on Kijiji.
  6. I just switched to an Imac and now suddenly after a week of working fine, it's acting up and won't even start. Any techies here that know Imacs that can assist? Would cover any long distance charges if we can work through this by phone.
  7. So my bike is tentatively sold and should be gone by the end of the week. I have a long list of add-ons that the buyer didn't want, and some extra stuff to get rid of. Will list everything in the classifieds. Everything is in Canadian dollars, and I am open to reasonable offers. Buyers pay for shipping, unless other arrangements are made.
  8. I am very sad to say that life has gotten way too busy and keeps me from riding. I am the president of one of the local German Clubs, my wife is also very active within the club, and we now have 3 grandkids. We also own a cottage. All of these things are keeping me from riding more then the 5 minutes to work and back most days. On top of that, mostly due to medical issues, the Queen does not ride with me, so when I do ride, it's alone. With the stupidly high cost for insurance, I can no longer justify the costs of maintaining this ride. I love this bike......it's the best one that I have ever owned and physically suits me perfectly so it was not an easy decision to make, but I am selling it. Someone is coming by this evening to look at it. If that doesn't pan out, I will be advertising it here and on the local Kijiji and auto trader. I will probably also have some "extras" come off the bike that I will list on the site soon. This is an awesome group. I have met a lot of good people and made some good friends over the years. I will always remember the Colorado Rally and the great times there. Most of you people are nuts........I mean that in the friendliest way possible.......the kind of nuts that people wanna be with. Will talk more soon.
  9. Installed the heated grips yesterday. Took the tank off to run and hide the wiring, went pretty smooth. Here's a pic of where I mounted the controller. Now just need the rain to stop to take them out for a test ride.
  10. Want to get some heated grips for my 06 RSV. The Oxford set looks good. Anyone have a set to sell or have any comments on any particular brands?
  11. Looks like my battery is toast....won't even take a charge so......which battery is everyone suggesting now-a-days? Have had good luck with Odyssey. Can anyone tell me which Odyssey model I need for an 06 RSV? Thanks
  12. Although I have been lurking on the site regularly since my bypass surgery in October, I have kept a low profile. Been busy working on the recovery so that I will be able to hold the bike up and to ride in the spring. The recovery is going well....made some significant lifestyle changes....reading food labels now and eating much healthier, have a regular exercise program at home on my treadmill and Boxflex and started back to work this week. Have lost about 15-20 lbs so far - didn't own a scale before my surgery so I don't know what I was at before - and feeling better then I have in many years. This experience has made me really appreciate what medical facilities we have at our disposal, and for me, right here in Kitchener. As I joked, they had me split open like fish and were playing Fussball with my heart. It makes you appreciate everything a little more now. Looking forward to getting on the bike this spring and hopefully I can put some miles on it this season. Hope to see many of you then.
  13. Wouldn't it be interesting if the law was changed so that they seize your phone for, say 24hrs! That would put an end to it.
  14. Thanks everyone for the moral support. I gave up cigarettes over 30 years ago, but I'm a good German boy who likes his breaded pork schnitzel, sauerkraut, pigtails, beer........wait a minute......I'm getting sad here making a list of many things that I have to give up! Oh well, could have been worse. Ride safe everyone.
  15. Thanks everyone. hard to believe that it was only one week ago today that they cracked my chest and played soccer with my heart....well OK, they didn't actually play soccer with it but sometimes it feels like it. One week and I am already home and recovering. It is amazing what modern medicine and the human body are capable of. Can't say enough goods things about the medical staff and the amazing care that I got. When it's all over, you simply leave.....don't even have to sign anywhere.....the staff are seriously understaffed and overworked, but for the most part, its an amazing system. Ride safe everyone.
  16. Rode the ambulance from work Tuesday morning to the local cardiac care hospital , and on Friday had quadruple bypass surgery. Home now for a 6 week recovery.....can't lift anything. Got some awesome scars though!! My riding season is over, Deer season done, bear season done......glad to be alive but man, my freezer was in need of a venison restocking!!
  17. I have been on a mission the last few years looking for a good rain gutter cover. Tried some mesh ones that hinged on the outer edge of the gutter and were shaped in a convex arc. The problem was the angle where the mesh met the shingles created a pinch point for the debris and it blocked the water from coming down. Found some relatively inexpensive vinyl ones at the local Lowes store that seem to work well. They tuck up under the shingles and are full of holes that let the water in, but seem to stop most of the debris. I believe the key to these things working properly is to keep the slope of the roof line, so that the debris will roll/slide down the roof line and off the roof completely. Many of these products sit level on top of the gutter, creating a collection area for the debris. That's just my two cents worth.
  18. One of the first things I am going to do in an attempt to reduce/eliminate handlebar vibration is to install bumpers between the lower wind deflectors and the forks. Are these something pre-made that you can buy or are people making their own? Would love to see pics if anyone has any. thanks
  19. Unfortunately I haven't had any time to follow-up with this issue, and even sadder is no time to ride. This next month or so will be crazy for me so I'm not sure when I will get to this. My first "fix" will be a carb sync and then perhaps some rubber supports for the lower wind deflectors.
