Fuel pump question(s)
Marcarl replied to Marcarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
All right,, I did, and didn't come up with that thread,,,, but it's what I needed,, thanks! Now the next question, which you didn't answer in that thread either, but maybe this time,,,,,,is there a rebuild kit? -
I am working on an 84 Venture. The fuel pump keeps pumping, so it's not building any pressure, so I took it off. It clicks just fine, so I opened up the pump side to see what was happening. I noticed two check valves, one with a rubber center and one without. Does any body know what should be there, and if there is a rebuild kit available?

How long should this take?
Marcarl replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Now while you're down there anyways,,,,,,,, are you ging to lube the swing arm and wishbone? Add another 5 hours, some for work, some for beer, and while you're laying down anyways, might as well work in that nap that's been nagging to get done. -
Couple of years ago we took some back roads, not quite what you are describing, but with hills, wash-outs, wash-ins, corners, puddles, you name it, even loose gravel. Marca said it was the best part of the ride. Go slow, relax, relax, relax and enjoy, and NO front brake. Remember that you're much less likely to go over with power to the back wheel, rather than brake to the front, or back for that matter. You'd be amazed at what these ventures can do. You might want to look at the roads we took,, came to a 'puddle' that I thought to better not cross, turns out I was right. http://s512.photobucket.com/user/marcarl_photo/slideshow/?albumview=slideshow

Just sick, want to cry. Going to have a shot and a beer instead
Marcarl replied to JohnT's topic in Watering Hole
Yep, found that out last winter as well,,, darn stuff just falls apart,,,mine wasn't as bad as yours, but I feel your pain. For the hose, take a look at the front left corner of the bottom of the air box, maybe you'll find what you're looking for, probably have to feel up there to find it. -
I got it, but then I lost it,,, now I need another before you know who finds out.

The last one is the best,,, I'd call that a Freebird Special.

That's slower going, but would fit your time Steve. -
You forgot to give your scoot it's final rinse, somebody was just trying to help out,,,,, and oh, the hail, just telling you not to forget that again!!!!

Only the Mods have all the answers to this test, and if anybody wants to know what the answers are then we WILL get a little testy. Also, it has been discovered that testing is an excellent way to find out where and when the testors come from, and whether or not there is testosterone involved. If you don't believe this then you may contest this, but the results could be rather contestable. If this were a real test, then the results would be smartest thing that happened on this site, but seeing as this is only a pretest, only those who have so far responded are not know to be the brightest. If you would like to be a contestant in the future I haven't the faintest idea of how you would enter such a contest. Now seeing as we all have so much time on our hands, maybe somebody can come up with how many times the letters t.e.s.t have come up in this thread. Mine you, this is a test and only a test,, not an exam. Now that we're talking about exams,,, what are you examining?

Just came to mind with your 'stand-up' comment. Make sure you have a place to put your feet when you come to a stop, and not on a painted line. It won't be any bigger problem than it was before, but now with the added weight at standstill, it gonna be much more important.

Brad asked to same question and I told him yes,, so I guess there is.

Boy,,,, you'll do anything to get company, won't you. -
Going on to the next place is always difficult for those left behind. For those who departed hopefully it's for the better, and they can celebrate the journey, but for us who are still here, it reminds us that we will have to go that route someday as well. I'm sure that Gunboat would not want us sitting around mopping, but rather to celebrate the time we had together. Yes we will all miss him, some a lot more than others, and that's what happens when a person has a large impact on your life, and he had a huge affect on many. Someday I will see him again, and if my memory goes with me, we'll be able to talk about VentureRiders.org and the blessing it was to us to be part of such a special group. Hopefully there will be many more to share stories with when we get there.

Your passenger needs to be a sack of wheat, straight up and not to lean one way or the other. If you draw an imaginary line at the back of the scoot, from the ground, up the rear tire, over the center of the trunk it should continue to the center of their helmet. When you ride straight that line should stay straight up and when you lean into a curve that line should remain straight, so they do lean with the bike, but stay in virtually the same position in reference to the line we just imagined. If they don't stay in that position you'll have a heck of a time in the corners, either your bike will cut the corner if they try to help, or if they counter lean you'll be taking a real close look at the road side. As long as you are going straight, they can do almost anything they want, stretch their legs, move their butt, wave, go to sleep (mostly not recommended), you feel the movement but will have very little effect on anything, but in the curves, sit-down, shut-up and hang on.

Keep us posted, we're praying for you.
