It's good to worry and consider this phenomenon some, I have had the same thoughts in the recent past. This is a rather new site actually. It started somewhere around 2004 so about 10 years old, slowly it grew and as new members came the posts count grew. People were interested to get to know each other, either just on line or in person, either way, that takes communication, so posts were created and BS bloomed. I think we have got quite comfortable with each other and have added more challenges to life, so that will take time from the other things we do with our lives, so VentureRider.org might become a bit more passive rather than active. Yes I think that keeping things on an even keel may have a little effect on some considering not to post, just in case that they may be stirring the pot in the wrong direction, but I do believe that keeping things civil has a more positive effect and generates a better relationship between us. And as mentioned, things change, and so does life and the needs it brings with it. So if we need it, we tend to use it, but if the need diminishes then so does our use of whatever we were in need of. In conclusion, I think that if more folks were to make regular use of SeaFoam, they would find less need for CTs, and that would translate in the need for less oil changes. Now if you don't need to change the oil as often then a person would have time to listen more to the cassette deck. So if you've never used it before, now is the time to consider getting a supply of Fluid Film, before the price goes up again. THERE, happy now?

Some year ago I bought what looked like the cat's meow, paid like $60 for it and it's supposed to sharpen everything, all kinds of do-gadets with it and it looked impressive. Sometimes I could get decent results, sometimes not so good, so I went on line and watched some videos,,,,, along with a bunch of other videos that weren't on the schedule. As usual, it only took about 2 hours to see the video that I was looking for and in the end I learned a lot about other things that I had never even thought of before. What I do now is to sharpen all my twist bit on my bench grinder. Couple of things to keep in mind: Angle must be at 60 degrees, and 30 degrees up, flue must be at the top of the bit as it's sharpened, use only very light strokes with an upwards movement, and most important is to never let the end of the bit get hot, so lightly does it. When I get in a hurry, and take off too much the results are lousy, because I got the very end of the bit too hot. Just my thoughts. What ever you do, stay away from the 6L, unless you have stock in your local gas company. In 05 GM started to coat the inside of the body panels with galvanize, so go 05 or newer.

We do have a bike shop here, and the owner is as old as the hills and has been there forever, and seems to know the problem quite well. Two things: he says that the indexing may be the same and maybe not, and,,,, they had a flood a couple of years ago and so threw out all that stuff because they never used it. I can go to other bike shops, and plan to do just that,, once I hear back from Saddlebum.

Waiting with baited breath!

Would, have done that,,, but,,,, it's not there to do it to,, so I have to find another to practise on,,, but thanks for the idea.

Had thought about that as well, but waiting to see if that one would work. It needs to have the right setting for the gearing to work. Thanks for the effort, I'm hoping somebody has the needed info as to whether these are compatible.

Thanks, I already seen that one, that would cost me around $100 by the time it's all said and done,,,, nope, bike is only worth about $50, maybe, so now she would run the risk of somebody stealing it to get their hands on the shifter,, lol.

MKII Muffler Removal ?
Marcarl replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I hope you noticed the operative word: vigorous,,, for sometimes that is an understatement. -
Now if them there jello cups were ice-cream cups instead, it could be a whole lot more interesting,,,, and we could lick it rather than spoon it.

My mother-in-law had a folding bike, an Amica which she donated to one of my daughters, but in the process it made a stop in my shop to make sure it works good. It's a folding type with a three speed rear hub. What I need is the shifter part for the handle bar. It's a Torpedo Dreigang. The shifter is red. Seems that they may be a bit hard to find. Anybody want to part with theirs? I know you all have one,,,,,,

Good to hear you made it safely, too bad for the scoot, hope you had it insured and that the end turns out OK. As long as you're moving the fumes will dissipate away from you, that changes when you stop as you have noticed. So there isn't as much chance of a fire when you're moving as much as when your sitting still. Fuel leaks are still dangerous no matter if your moving or not.

Somebody once said that there was no real reason to put a roof on an empty barn,,,,,, don't know what it's got to do with the subject at hand, but it's what came to mind so I'd thought to share,,,,, maybe change the subject a little,,, but then maybe not. It's also been said that a busy street don't grow no grass,, now what that has to do with a barn,,, or your head,, I'm not sure either,,, but it's late at night and I'm going to bed.

SOME????? you say???

And here I thought this was a Venture Riders event,,,, so what's the scoop? Well we would miss you I guess, you having been there every year so far!

All that makes good sense, even the second part. The most forgotten one is to let some fresh air into the house. Got to air out the house at least once per week, so open a couple of windows when it a bit breezy, and put get Mary where she belongs.

My red truck turned white,,,, well it's about time, we are almost ready!

NOPE, I'm NOT Big Tom,,,, don't even look like him I think,,,,,sorry!

A difficult question?
Marcarl replied to Lassesand's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I would say do a sync from scratch and then go from there. Let us know how you did or if you have more problems. -
what does this look like
Marcarl replied to pmelah's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Nothing staring me in the face there,,, but then what do I know,, I'll let the experts give their opinion.
