On our sign some years ago. Our store is 7 miles out of town. We're out of town. ..........But ....We're home This led to a bit of confusion, but people did stop to see what it exactly meant. The comment: Read other side had the Cops stopping by to ask for removal, too many people were trying to do that and caused trouble on the road. Another one that didn't sit too well with Marca was" . ...Leave us your orders. ........I'm used to it. Been married for 20 years.

Successful Trunk Repair
Marcarl replied to B.E. Coyote's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Looks real good from where I'm sitting, had to squint a bit from the glare even. -
Feeling the pipes is an indicator, but it is not what might be called scientific. If you think you have an issue then the pipes need to be measured with an infrared thermometer right at the manifold for each one. That would give a true reading and something to work with. Just feeling them will give you enough info to get a thermometer. And yes, they should all be close.

Spitting oil
Marcarl replied to Air Ready Auto's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you are sure that the tank was full when you left it, and you say that now it's empty, and you have not smelled gas at anytime,,, then there is only one of two places it could go. It would not end up leaking into the carbs seeing as the tank is lower than the carbs, so it has to be going elsewhere. If it is parked in an enclosed garage then somebody has helped with the disappearance, if it's in a shed with the possibility of air flow through, you might have a leak. -
Venture Mortality
Marcarl replied to B.E. Coyote's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The rider suffers from internal and external wear, maybe due to not enough lubrication or maybe too much. Could also come about from this recently discovered aging thing that a lot of folks seem to be talking about. It just seems to effect the rider though, these bikes don't seem to mind it a bit,,,,, even better than an EverReady. -
A friend of mine (Thanks again Evan) bought me a Jump Starter. It has a flashlight, usb charger (2 ports) a 12, 16,19 volt port with adapters and it actually does even start a car with a dead, dead battery. It goes with me mostly wherever I goes,,, if I remember. Recharges from 110 or 12v.

Yep,, it's a bummer for sure, but when we were younger we couldn't seem to get our head around the fact that older doesn't mean that we get more agile or even stay that way. We just couldn't believe that soon we would succumb to the ever changing life that we live. So we carry on as though we will go on for the next 30 years as we have for the last 60,,,,, and then reality hits, and we come to find out that there is a reason why retirement age is set to 65, CRAP!!! now what eh? Enjoy what you still have, use what you still can, eat as much as possible, have a beer now and then, but most of all: love the people around you, say Hi to all the strangers you meet, and get yourself ready to meet your Maker. About your bike though? You have an 83 and it's not going to get any newer no matter what you do to it. It has lots of extras, but some of those might not suit a new owner so they become a liability to him. The color might only suit a few or none at all. So look at it this way; you enjoyed doing the things you did to it for the time that it took, it gave you entertainment and something to do that you found enjoyable. Now that time seems to be over for you. The next person won't be able to do anything that you did, because it's already been done, so all he can do is ride it,,, which maybe just the cat's meow for him, but not for me, I would like to wrench it some to make it mine. So,,,, it's still an 83, however a real nice 83 so should get a dollar that is on the higher end of the scale, around here that would be about $1800 maybe. Tough part is saying good-bye to the last number of years and looking forward to what lies ahead,,, less of this and less of other things as well,,,, but that also comes with mores,,,, more sleep, more doctors, more wheels, more walking help, more pills, more forgetfulness, and more things that I can't remember. Hey, just thought of something,,, oooo what a brain wave!!!! Trade that 2 wheeler in for a trike of a new 4 wheeler. Then start your project all over new and you'll be ready to get good use of it when the time comes. Just sayin'

No Throttle Response Past 1/4 Throttle
Marcarl replied to mills's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Take the air filters off and physically inspect them and the air passages. -
Although I upgraded to the better starter clutch and was super happy with it, from what I see and what you tell us, I would stick with what you have, but install it properly. If all the bolts weren't torqued properly there is no telling what noises might be produced and what you have doesn't look bad, to me anyways.

He should be careful lying there like that, he could get stepped on and get hurt.

To those who control our weather!! What are the Dynamic Dual up to now?
Marcarl replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
Oh he was polite, Tippy was there, he was: kind (kind of) and warm spirited (when isn't he). Now about straight forward (that board got a bit twisted) and true (now would that make a video?) -

In my humble opinion Puc, this wind is nothin but your fault,,,,, you see, seeing as you have not been on site too much lately and have kept kind of quiet like, it gave Saddlebum an opportunity to get wound up and start talking,,, not that he really needs silence to get started, but it does help. Now you know as well I the rest of us know, when one talks there is air coming forth as well as words. Now we haven't heard a lot of words coming from the Bum just yet, but going by the amount of air that is being projected forth presently, guess we best get just a little ready. -
I wonder if they make a kit for a Spyder,,, that would be a great Santa thing for Big Tom.
-
Yep! I tend to agree with Bum, you shouldn't be getting any until we have at least been able to test the quality, but knowin Bum he might not have it all together and have his criers washed so you just might have to let us know just how it all works out. I understand from his better half,,, oh sorry,,, much better half that opening and closing doors is not something that he is highly effective at. Seems like he could use some further training off and on.

You may have stretched the cable or cables, but I doubt it. The only adjustment that I know of is at the handle bar end. The cruise control has no adjustment, but if somebody had taken it apart and not put it back together proper, there might be an issue. Make sure that when you hook up the carb end of the cables that the primary side goes on the inside of the rod that has the nylon bushing on it. It seems that the nylon bushing might be a bearing point for the cable to slide across, but that is not the case, the cable actually runs behind and away from that rod. To lube the cables is a 2 step process. There are 4 cables all told. 2 long ones from the grip to the cruise control and 2 shorter ones from there to the carbs. I use Fluid Film that is liquid enough to get in the shield and stays mobile enough to work it's way down.

No wonder he is not so nice to you, I think he would be smart to stay far away just in case you shake a bit too much and actually hit something, in his case that would become personal.

Figured I'd best do some moderation work and do some editing. Can't leave it all to Freebird, he is busy enough looking after Eileen. Hope I didn't screw things up Big Tom, but there was clear reason for some creative editing in your post. Now that the truth is told and you will get from Santa what he determines will be in your best interest. Off line I suggested to him few other items, such as a new paint brush and roller, some micro fiber cloths to do a better job of cleaning the Spyder, a GPS so that you would have a better idea of just exactly where you should put the garbage, a new feed trough so that your live stock would have a better time eating and not have to bend over sooooo far to eat from the dirty ground, a shovel or two so that you can do a better job of cleaning up behind them. I also sent Santa a letter for Taters. She is such a wonderful woman!!!! I mean having to put up with the likes of you for so long,,, poor thing!!!! Anyways, on her list is a large size straight jacket, ear plugs, pointed steel toed boots, cattle prod, new paint for the bedroom, a door lock to the kitchen and seeing as they are on for half-price, maybe one for the bedroom as well. Isn't it nice to have friends that love ya, and look after ya!!! I hear that as you get older and advanced in years that love shines more and more. Hopefully you can enjoy those feelings as time moves on. It would be nice for you though, I guess, to have Taters keep up with you as this happens,,,, but due to who she is, she is seemingly not advancing as well as you are. I am totally amazed at how she keeps her youth so well intact, must be her friends at VenterRiders. And somebody said once that I was LongWinded!!!! Hah!!!!!

Too bad you is so far away. It would be an interesting project to get all those loose parts back together and bled out. Glad you got a 'new' one, what a steal!!

It was supposed to be a high of 56 yesterday, and I had to go half hour drive to see a lawyer, ( yeah, they need my input as well,, go figure). Decided to blow some dust off the bike that had collected for the last few weeks in the process. Turned out that the temp went up to 68 instead, wasn't sure what I should do about that, so I took the long way home to try to figure it out. It didn't help, I still got home alright. I did lower the gauge some though and now will have to see about that problem. Problems!Problems!

May Mary and the family and friends find comfort from above.

Wow,,, 40 years and she is still living there with you??? Amazing that woman!!!!! And I thought we had agreed that you would let me have a word or two with your newest addition before he came to settle in,,, oh well, guess he looks good enough to manage you by himself. I hear say that he is made from a wonderful breed,, just looks a bit small for an Ayrshire, maybe should feed him ChumChow to help him grow.
