  1. It wasa rather simple really, something anybody in their right mind could've played with and got screwed up. So that was the problem, trying to find somebody with a right mind, and Midi was lucky enough to have caught me at a time when both my left and right minds were out. One was lost and the other was out lookin for it, and then the Cat showed up all crying his eyes out because his baby was not being very sparky and seemed to have lost all desire to go out chasing others of the same breed. It turned out that the major,, not saying there was anything minor or anything major, that being opposed to really the minor,,, now I got myself confused,,, darn!!! lets start again!! So the issue was plain and simple, left overs from the marriage last year!!!yes sir, didn't take all that long to figure it out neither,, you should have seen that thing wobble when it arrived, could hardly make it into the garage with 3 guys pushing and holding it up straight. Took only a few minutes of kindly talking to it, massaging it a bit and removing a side cover so that fresh air could enter into the bowels. Nothing like a breath of fresh air to get the drunkenness removed. Happens when your boss gets married and he leaves you alone to contemplate the future of things, you find leftovers to drink and soon enough it becomes a regular diet, Takes a little boink on the heart of things to set the record straight once more. Good to have her going as easy as it was,,, enjoy it Thomas.
  2. I would shoot you if we was allowed,, but that ain't allowed over here, and Marca says it ain't ours anyways, so I guess No Shootin'!!
  3. Now lookin at that picture it seems somebody is hiding his face,,, and yah, in this case it's a 'him', not boughtadought it,,,,,and I wonder why,,,afraid to be recognized maybe, but me,, yah me, I had to show my snot... not all bad though, can't find a better friend than olde Puc. Now don't yu going feeling bad @saddlebum, you is just as good as him but you're a whole lot closer, so a lot easier to bumm stuff from.
  4. Looking for a OEM Venture muffler. I changed the exhaust on my Spyder, upgraded the exhaust pipes and now am looking for something quieter than the aftermarket sound makers I have now, they are HD OEM but soembody bashed the baffles in them. Wanta do this to see how it works out. Got to be 2nd gen though.
  5. Go back to sleep Puckie boy, you just hasn't let your brain wander far enough to get all the hypurrrboll in the right sequencing. Who is it that sends the Fool such opportunities to make that white fluffy stuff,,,, it's the Kanuckyanes. We send him the cold so that his awesome machine can makes the whatwhereever. Keep it straight, we ain't no fools,,, we leave them in WI.
  6. I don't believe it!! Are you guys at it already so early in the morning???? Bum, you get back to bed will ya, you're not making any sense so early, your upgetting time is not before 9am, so go rest your wandering brain. Big T, you are getting involved in something that you can't win,,, subjects!!!! hah!! we are free, unencumbered by anything that might hold us back and forging forward to show the world what it is like to be the true north. We are the suppliers of snow and coool weather, we have the most idiots and varmits, we breed mosquitoes and bears, we have mooses and elks, and we even have some things to give away like gas and oil aaannnd Saddlebum. We even absorb all the hot air that comes from South of us and send it on for recycling, except for some of the extremely hot stuff that come from just south of the border, that goes goes back directly!! no questions asked!!
  7. You are not the first one to experience this exciting part of life. It seems to me that others have had a very similar or same issue. My recollection tells me that tou did not put everything together the way it should be. There is nothing that would stop the cross-over shaft from sliding back and forth. There is a short shaft, a ball and a longer shaft. The longer shaft I believe goes on the business side and it has a dimple on the one end to accommodate the ball the goes between the 2 shafts. I suggest you take the whole thing apart to check the install. It doesn't take much to screw things up in there and there is very little movement of the clutch plates, so even what you might consider a minor variance could cause major issues. Let us know how you made out.
  8. My JD does this all the time. I just keep clicking it until it goes. Took the bendix apart a couple of years ago and now it's up to the same thing again. I figure it's just the nature of the beast and I have a spare if needed.
  9. Raggie, you is going to have to get youself one of them there newfangled reminder rememberer thingies. I got me one now and it works wonderful, a feller can even make phone calls on it,,, and it also does that new stuff like texting,, or was it that other word,, I think it started with an 's'. Now just because it works so good, doesn't mean it helps me a bunch though,,,, still got to remember to look at it from time to time and there is times when I just plain forget about it. Maybe it can work for you eh?
  10. Got the final results this morning,,,, Marita even says so!!!
  11. Whoever said that Carl knew where he was going was from another world. He just tools around, or is it tours around,,, either way it's 'around' and that won't be square anytime soon,,,,, u-turns are round,,,,barn-yards are round,,, parking lots are round,,, yep!! it's around,,, all around!!
  12. We decided to leave early as well, 4 of us from Ontario. Weather forecast was not getting better as time went on for Sunday and most folks were leaving the hotel Saturday, so we decided to depart and save the worst of the weather for watching at home. Didn't quite turn out that way. Forecast for today actully is not bad riding weather,,, bummer!!!!,,, oh well, we made it home safe and now dry I'm sure. Herb1 and I were the leading in the lead, with Sleepy2 and Saddlebum following in the back, Sleepy2 was struggling a bit with his trailer through all the wet and it seemed to us that we lost them on the 271, so we pulled off at the first stop on I90, at which time they passed us by, looking for us. Herb1 and I lost about an hour or better holing up for them as they nicely scooted all the way in front of us,,, oh well, they're loss I guess. Thanks Don And Eileen, it was as great as usual being at your place,,,can we do it again next year???? please????
  13. First you need to insert the drive shaft into the yoke\u-joint, have the bike in gear and make sure you can't turn the shaft. If it won't turn try the same with the bike in neutral, and let us know what you find.
  14. So do I bring my towing kit?
  15. Marcarl

    Broke down

    Yep,, so it's been said.
  16. Slipping definitely will not get any better, only worse. It could be the oil, but I doubt it. Not a big deal though. Take a read on how to replace the clutch in the tech section and I think you will find it can easily be done. You don't even have to drain the oil. Just some basic tools and a torque wrench. Heck, you could go out and buy all the needed tools and do the work yourself and be a whole lot cheaper than the dealer. Just remember,,, lefty loosey, righty tighty.
  17. Looks good, how does it perform? What kind of carb did you use?
  18. 3.5 hours??? piece of cake. Better go P first though.
  19. Glad it's just your opinion, hate to have a lot of others be wrong.
  20. That might depend on if your bringing it.
  21. You should start a thread entitled: What's happening at Freebird's. You could include the wetness of the pond, rides around the pond,,,,,,,,,,,,
  22. I was going to leave this thread alone, seeing as I don't have much time to discuss tires and oils and the like, unless it involves me, and then I might become interested. So I just became interested. Why? Because now I have a question and it's bugging me. Question: What is wrong with me? I rode an 85 for 8 years, never worried over the gas business, sometimes I did fill it up for the winter, but didn't always remember. Did the carbs on it at about the 6 year mark and found nothing wrong except for the dirt in it. I have a chain saw that sees service when needed, and that might be every 2 or 3 years or so. When finished I just put it on the shelve until I need it again and then it starts the same as it always has, I might fill the tank and then again I might not. I have a lawn mower, it just cuts it way through the grass every time as though I have babied it always. I haven't, it gets it proper service every year, but I've never worried over the fuel system. I have a gas pressure washer, that gets used every 2 or 3 months, never a problem. I've had my Spyder since 2014, only fuel injected unit I have, and never worried over the gas thing, so far it runs just fine. Am I doing something wrong? Oh! All units are stored frost free.
  23. Guess it would be good to know who would want to ride in a group to Oberlin on Friday June 14. Plan is: Meet at Casablanca Tim Hortons before 9am, leave at 9am, cross in Niagara Falls, break at Angola NY, lunch at TA truck stop Erie PA, fuel stop before Cleveland and wherever we might decide, and then split up to go where intended after Cleveland, meet up again at Quaker Steak and Lube, Vermillion, for supper. It wouldn't be nice to expect to join a ride and then find out that the group has left without you because you are a bit late, or that the group waits and waits for you to show up because they thought you were coming, but for some reason you ain't. So far I am assuming at this point, a group of 1, and that would be me, so post your intentions. The last time I will check this thread will be June 14th 7:30am
  24. First pour a can of carb cleaner into the tank, don't be cheap. use it all. Then drain the carbs, all of them, and then refill with the fuel pump. Do this about 3 -4 times. Let it sit for a few hours. Take out all the plugs and wind it over a few time, maybe 10 is a good number. After a few hours try the fuel production again. If all is good, install new plugs.
