  1. I really wonder about some people. There is a big market for those 50cc hondas in any condition. I was watching ebay and saw a rusted out late 70s early 80s sell for 2500. Makes me wish id hung on to some of the ones ive used for parts over the years. Ive picked up non runners for 20 to 40 bucks. Must have sent 15 of them for scrap over the last 20 years.
  2. Im sitting here looking at my 89 vr with the fairing off and most of the electrical hung off to the side and trying to picture a 6.5 inch bullet headlight with a chrome blinker bar underneath it and wondering if a national cycle v-stream windshield made for a mid 2000's Suzuki boulevard would fit. Its made to mount to the shocks and boulevards have a fairly large headlight. Just wondering what you guys think. http://www.nationalcycle.com/n28210.html#product-media-modal
  3. I think at this point you need to consider bribing all parties involved. That or blackmail. Course i'd consider carl to have more dirt to throw so that might not work. Beer and donuts it is.
  4. You also realize that she's already replaced that honey do jar that had been a little bigger then a coffee cup with something that would have been more at home in an industrial kitchen. Welcome to the honey do vat, Costco sized.
  5. So where did you hide the box of left over parts? I was cleaning up one night after a job that someone else had done and found a small rubber fitting that didnt quite make a 180 bend. Looked important so i showed it to the other guy and he looked all over the car trying to find where it went. Wasnt till months later fixing deer damage on the same kind of car that we found it was just a vent cover for the headlights. He spent two hours going over that car looking for where this little piece of rubber was suppose to go and here it was something we hadn't even touched. Go figure
  6. On a side note i tend to spray the bottem of the tent each year with a waterproofing spray and use a piece of vapour barrier cut just smaller in size under it. Its a little less bulky then an extra tarp and cheaper. To spray the bottom set it up and flip it on its side. Alot easier then fighting with it. I used carriage bolts left over from a project for holding down the ground tarp. They dont bend as easy and are not as sharp as nails with washers welded on them.
  7. You poor guy, its rough having to ride hundreds of miles and then put up with the jacuzzi suite and the pain of a king sized bed. Im sure we can get the other wives to talk to yours and convince her to let you tent in the parking lot!
  8. Id keep an eye on the cylinder that had the whiter plug and compare it now and then with the others you might have some diaphram issues there
  9. In the spring with the carbs dry id have to cycle the pump about five times before starting but just sitting overnight i really never paid much attention to it. 5 to 10 clicks seems about average. It wouldnt take much leakage from the carbs to have a fuel smell in the garage. Seafoam in every tank helps but once needles and seats wear theres not much an additive can do.
  10. Huh... They must have kids who are friends with my kids cause that sounds awfully familiar to answers i get here at home.
  11. Just think of it as a way of supporting the local service station with all the rear tires you would be buying. And as an added bonus the streets would be alot safer with that coating of rubber on them. Its all in how you spin the story.
  12. Bike looks great! Its funny how as an owner we can see all the little things that bug us that no one else ever notices! Now you need a month of weekends, good weather, and a horizon to claim.
  13. Reading through the old service bulletins they did suggest resistor plugs to eliminate radio noise File that away in my "things ive forgotten recently" folder
  14. Does your oil smell like gas? Could be affecting the clutch as well
  15. Have you pulled your plugs yet? I'm wondering what shape they are in. Has the noise been there since the conversion or has it built up? Might want to check your wires for wear or make sure they are not bundled up with any of the regular wiring harness. Having switched from stock you might have to see what the coil manufacturers recommended plugs would be.
  16. Im not sure what would fit but national cycle has peacemaker mufflers that go from baffled to straight pipe with the flip of a switch. Have to find out what model harley would switch over.
  17. I was looking through national cycle's web site and they had this video that was kinda neat. Mind you id love to be the one testing these without having to pay for them!
  18. Just make sure its fuel rated. For my 2 cents worth id put in the vacuum style you can always put a tee in and run a line out to provide vacuum when its sat for a while. I shut the fuel off and run the carbs dry on the dirt bikes pretty much every time i know they will be sitting a while. They still surprise me tho.
  19. Mid 50s today so i pulled my sons bike out and put in a battery checked the tires and oil and thoughtfully filled it up with gas and seafoam. And maybe I put 30 k on just to make sure the seafoam was mixed in properly, just in case.
  20. I was at a local shop one day talking to the mech as he was working on a jetta. As he was removing the plastic underneath it a ratchet fell out and the owner said he had lost it the previous summer. Also had a semi pull in one day with a magnetic light stuck underneath that survived a 2500 mile run. Its amazing where tools end up.
  21. Ive had a set of grey sockets that ive hammered on, used with the impact, three foot pipe on the breaker bar, lent to friends, you name it and ive been pretty impressed with them over the years. Little surface rust and lots of marks but they work.
  22. Ive had mice fill the muffler with seeds one winter!
  23. Just dont go cheap on the pants. They tend to leak in the worst places and melt to exhausts better then industrial adhesive. It is an investment and you need to like wearing what you bought.
  24. Have you load tested the battery? They can read 13 volts and do nothing at all. Try switching the battery out with a buddies and if it works leave it that way then when hes having problems you can go over and bum a few beers before magically fixing the problem
  25. Alright three words Power ball ticket Sounds like it might be your only chance
