  1. Ok from the battery you have power to the main fuses and you pulled them and no corrosion on contacts. From there do you have any power to any of the fuse blocks? If the ignition switch is faulty it will kill the power to everything although sometimes the radio will still work. Found this article dealing with a mid 2000's https://venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002007&id=339

  3. Wonder if this would sway the wife to agreeing to a new bike
  4. Its a 30 amp fuse there all by itself
  5. There is a main fuse on the starter solenoid. Remove the foot rest and the plastic cover on left side.
  6. Crazy question but with everything dead does the radio still work? I think there are three different fuse boxes on that bike am i right?
  7. Just want to give a vote of support to a guy named paul who runs pauls poor house, a bar and grill on hwy 53 in Wisconsin by solon springs about 45 miles south of superior. Talk about salt of the earth, I blew a trailer wheel bearing friday night and limped it into his yard to see if i could park it there while getting bearings. He had no problem with it and let me use his cell to try and call someone to torch the outer bearing off and said if i needed to leave it he was okay with that to. Great guy willing to help anyway he could. If your heading up that way stop in and say hi.
  8. Good to hear they are safe. Thats a call every parent dreads to receive.
  9. There should be a knuckle on the frame to square it and putting a 3/16 or 1/4 inch shim on the right side bracket helps fight crown steer. Some harley guys lower the front shocks in the triple trees a bit to make steering easier, though that could just be a harley guy trying to see over his fairing. Not sure if triggs is still going or not. Any body near jacksboro Tenn?
  10. The year i bought my fire bird i drove it home from maryland to stratton ontario. At the michigan border i hit wet snow. By the time i reached grand rapids and pulled into my aunts place i was pushing snow up onto the hood on the back roads. Btw something ive done for our mailbox to keep the plow from having to much fun is to mount the post on a spare tire, works great for mowing to. Just pick it up and mow. If the kids edge to close and hit the mirrors it flexes instead of marking the mirror. Now if only i could train them to actually retrieve the mail...
  11. https://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/custom-yamaha-royal-star-with-heart-v-max-from-archives/ Ran across this older article and thought it was a neat idea. Alot of work but a neat idea. Not sure if they understood the whole v boost concept but if they are use to harleys i guess i can't blame them. I would have loved to see their faces the moment they tried to install the carbs.
  12. Being winter we've switched to the sleds but an extra couple litres of fuel then what you think you need and a bunch of hand warmers and a tow rope has come in handy. I also carry a chain saw for some lake finding adventures.
  13. Well up here in canada this morning its a balmy 27.5 below Fahrenheit or -42 with the wind chill. Cold enough that the stock coolant in one of our snowmachines gelled enough to take out the impeller on the water pump earlier this week. When the kids complain about the cold they get to go out and split fire wood and we all come back in with streamers of frost and ice hanging off our scarves and cheeks and noses as red as apples. We've had five batteries die in the last week and i had to actually look at the manual to find the one our traverse. Who designs a vehicle with a battery located between the passenger seats? Anyway enough of my ranting, Happy Valentine's Day folks!
  14. Not sure what parts he has but there is a guy with an add on kijiji saying hes parting out an 84 1200 Listed 7 or 8 days ago Says winnipeg but who knows
  15. If you want to up the difficulty level have your kids or buddies stand by and offer then five bucks for every time you need to "correct" a turn or 20 for a foot down except at a stop. Those buggers get sharp eyed quick.
  16. Have to get to know your local harley dealer and see if they would have a set on hand that you could try. Otherwise a machine shop could make them up but at what cost i couldn't guess. Eglidegoodies has scratch protectors for a star

  18. I think the three wire is the neutral switch https://www.yumpu.com/id/document/read/28411895/83-yamaha-venture-tk-wiring-diagram-rev-apdf
  19. Could you be pulling your brake signal from before the switch? Also Im not sure if that bike uses the brake switches as a path to ground instead of power to light. Might be something to look into.
  20. Ive had dirt bikes that would be very temperamental depending on the type and make of oil used. Not all friction modifiers are the same. Having said that, i agree with saddlebum about that ballbearing. That thing can disappear better then my pay cheque.
  21. After looking online im surprised at how many parts are currently out of stock! But am i correct in thinking that the nut rick is looking for is a iso 16 mm selflocking?
  22. Take that part number to any yam dealer. its used in a couple quads
