  1. Lowell, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'm very sorry for your loss. Take care my friend.
  2. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God comfort them on their loss and give them the strength to get thru this tragic time.
  3. Thanks for all of the advice guys. If you noticed in the watering hole under "Fun in the sun", you know the bike cranked up the next morning and did great. I guess she dried out. I will be taking a look at the TCI when I get a chance. For right now, I just won't ride in the rain LOL! Thanks again for the advice.
  4. I will take a look at the 2 plugs on the tci and I will double check the plug mentioned. I cleaned and put dielectric grease on the plug beside the seat last fall, but will check it again. On the TCI, exactly where is it located. I know where the coils are. Also, to put the TCI on top of the airbox, do you have to rewire or is it enough slack to do this. Thanks for all the help guys.
  5. I have a 87 model and when it gets wet the tach drops to 0 and it runs like crap. This happened to me at Vogel last year when we started out on the tail of the dragon. We left the gas station and I hit a pothole that splashed quite a bit of water up on the bike. It started missing, spitting, sputtering and wouldn't take gas. As long as I don't give it much gas it runs ok and the tach registers, but when i accelerate, the rpm drops to 0 and it starts sputtering and popping. At Vogel I also had water in the gas when we drained the carbs, but after that it still ran ragged, so I let it get almost in the red and then shut it down. The next morning we left coming home and it didn't miss a beat, so I'm thinking since I washed her today and it started doing this again, I am getting water in something. I am suppose to leave at 7 in the morning going on an all day ride with some friends, but when I crank her up in the morning, if she is still acting up, then I won't be going. I didn't take the side covers off when I washed it and I didn't get much water on the engine, but I did spray the faux gas tank down so i'm thinking water got into something from the top. All spark plug wires and caps have been changed last year, so I don't think it would be pertaining to that. I have heard of the TCI getting wet, but what do you do to stop it?? if that is the case or any other suggestions would be appreciated. Even if I could get it dry to where I could make the trip tomorrow, I would worry about the cause later. Thanks

Thank you Don, for posting it. She has been gone for a year now, Time flies because it sure doesn't seem like a year. I know Cathy wasn't a member here, but she did use my username to scan the forums. She was a silent member. This group gave her several laughs and she would sometimes call me to the room to show me what she had found or read a post to me. No, she didn't like to ride after her nephew had his crash and I respected that. She would still hop on for us to go over to our daughter's every once in a while. She couldn't get her nephew's crash out of her head since she saw it happen. She still knows that I love to ride and she is now my Guardian Angel. When I do have a scary moment I always smile and say "Caddy, you were watching me on that one". I cherish the memories and she will never be forgotten.
  7. Thanks Rich, Good to see the pics. I know Tom would be proud and I know Sherry is proud of the service also. Thanks West Coast guys for standing in and representing this group of people. We appreciate it. Sherry, you know we were all with you in our hearts. God bless.
  8. Ron, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. So sorry to hear of your loss.
  9. Here is a pic of Allan and Deb right after I met them at Eureka Springs. Just thought I would share it. They were great hosts at E.S. as I enjoyed their company there, as well as at Vogel. Allan, look to the Lord for strength, and cherish the memories, for she is now your guardian angel sitting beside God in Heaven.
  10. Allan, No words will help at this time, but I am in such shock and so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you, my friend. It is not an easy road ahead, but keep your faith and God will see you thru it. Keep your family close as they will be your crutch and your strength in the months ahead. I am so sorry that you are going thru this. My heart aches for you. You feel free to call me at anytime. There will be times you need to talk and I will be glad to listen. My number is on your pm. If I do not answer, I will return your call as soon as I get your message. I would like to be a part of your crutch as all of you were mine at my time of loss. It meant so much. I am so glad that I got to meet Debbie at the ride ins. She was so precious and I appreciate the way y'all tucked me under your wing, as I needed someone to lean on. Seriously Allan, give me a call anytime, day or night. I will be there for you. Please let all of us know the arrangements. Thanks for letting me know and may God comfort you to the best of his ability. Take care my friend, Mike Pegstr
  11. I'd like to pay tribute to Calvin Jenks. Mr. Jenks was the Tennessee State Trooper who was shot to death last weekend by suspects allegedly running drugs in Tipton County. By all accounts, Calvin Jenks was exactly the kind of person we would want to go to into law enforcement. His colleagues say that he was inspired by his grandfather who was also a state trooper and they say Calvin Jenks loved what he was doing. The Christmas pictures of Mr. Jenks and his new wife, Sarah Beth, are heartbreaking. We can only imagine the wonderful times that were ahead for them. The minister who presided at his funeral said that if any good can come out of this tragedy, it's to remind us to thank the men and women who work hard and pay the price so that we can go about our daily lives. So yes, thank you to all of them and especially to the family of Calvin Jenks.
  12. So sorry to hear. My thoughts are prayers are with you, Ken, and his family. May God comfort his family and see them thru this terrible time.

I would just like to take the time to Thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I really enjoyed meeting all of you at E.S and Vogel and I appreciate each and everyone of you. I know I'm not the only one that has went thru a loss like this and I pray for everyone that has had to deal with this. Of course when this thread was first posted, Caddy had been gone for about 5 months. Now it is over 7 months ago and I'm finally getting into a different routine. As AEDC said in another thread, you just learn to cope with it more than time heals. I would like to wish all of you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! May God bless us all and always remember the real meaning of Christmas. Thanks to all of you. I feel I've gained a second family here and look forward to seeing you again at a future ride in. Mike

Hello Lonna, Little bro is doing fine. I'm so blessed to have a brother like him. We talk everyday. He asks about you and Squid quite often. I am so glad that he got to meet the people at Eureka and he was upset about not getting to make it to Vogel. He, like myself, says the people of this site are awesome. I do feel like I have another family now. I have never met a group of people that are so thoughtful, nice, and super to be around. It has been over 7 months now since Caddy left us and things are starting to get a little easier as I am falling into a different routine. This site helps me pass many nights while sitting at home. Believe me, all of you were God sent. I'll be honest, I'm not looking forward to the holidays, but I have enjoyed shopping for the grandchildren. They will be tickled with what PawPaw has got them. By the way, those cheesecakes are a hit in Tn.!!! I have made more than a few of them and everyone loves them. Thanks for the recipe. I've even threw a curve to 1 or 2 of them. If you like chocolate, try dumping a pack of chocolate instant pudding in it. Not bad, I like it. Of course mine are not as good as the ones you made, but I'm working on it. Take care and keep the Squid under control LOL!! or at least partially! I hope his new job is working out great. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Tommy, I'm very sorry to read of your loss. It is good to know our loved ones are in a better place, but as you said, it still hurts very deeply. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I know the Holidays doesn't help the pain. May God be with you and your family and I agree, time doesn't seem to heal, you just learn to cope with it.
  16. My prayers are with you. May God bless you.

My Heart Still Weeps Caddy, It's been almost 5 months since you left me And My heart still weeps for you every single day. I know you're in better hands But I miss you in every way. God has called you home earlier than I expected, And the emptiness that is left in my heart Seems as I've been rejected. I thank him for the years that we had But as each day goes by, I seem to ask more questions Even though I shouldn't ask why. I guess it is somewhat human nature Not knowing what life will bring, To ask such selfish questions Trying to reduce the sting. You were a wonderful wife And spoiled me to the max, I'll never begin to forget you As I'm stating just the facts. As I continue life without you And struggle to keep from going insane, You'll never be forgotten And I'm glad you're no longer in pain. They say time will heal But I guess it must take years, Because there are not many days That I don't wipe some tears. I guess that is a type of healing Even though it sounds so weak, I just wish we had another chance That we could hug and speak. You've touched so many lives As you were here on earth, And it saddens me so much That you missed our latest grandchild's birth. I am doing my best To fill MeMe's shoes, And our wonderful grandchildren help me smile When I'm feeling the blues. No one can take your place As a grandmother, mother, or wife, Watch over me, my darling As I try to continue my life. I thank God for giving me The strength to carry on, And you as my Guardian Angel I will never be alone. Family, friends, and VentureRiders Have helped me thru when things were dim, I wish you could've met this group As you would've loved all of them. I know we will see each other again And until that time is at hand, God is carrying me in his arms So there is only one set of footprints in the sand. We, on earth, must keep our faith As life is only a temporary thing, And if our faith is strong enough We will hear the Angels sing!!
  18. Missy, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I'm so sorry to hear of the accident. May God comfort you and see you thru this very troubling time. May God bless you and your family.
  19. I don't have pics, but I installed the rivco adapter and the nose cone wouldn't fit, so I modified the nose cone, or my service mgr. at the dealership did it for me. You can cut the plastic below the wire mesh about 1/2 in., then slit the mesh down each side, making it protrude out a little and yet still keeping the mesh in place. Without a pic, I know this will be hard to understand, but if it is done right, you can't tell it wasn't made that way.
  20. I have the Venture Std. so there wasn't a cb on the bike. I talked to J&M about the cb they have and the hook up. I bought it thru Sierra Electronics. Both were very helpful getting me the hookups, cb, and headset I needed. You can also hook the radio or satellite radio to this unit. There is one for driver only and then there is one for driver and passenger.
  21. I needed that laugh LOL!! Y'all are too much:)
  22. First off, are you sure you are sitting in the middle. If you are sitting kinda to one side that could cause it. If you are, then loosen the fork brace and retighten it to make sure it is not putting the forks in a bind. If that doesn't work, stay tuned from others for more answers.
