I offered to sign a waiver relieving them of all responsibilty and voiding the Warranty on the new fuel pump as well because of my self-installation. No dice. The 2 issues I have with this policy are 1) I have to trailer the scoot 60+ miles and have someone follow me in order to get back home. 2) The amount of time it would take them to get the job done....Of 3 Dealers I talked to the least amount of time quoted for the job was 2 weeks! Boomer....who still questions Yammi Customer Satisfaction .

I recall vaguely that someone here mentioned that the configuration of the oil pan makes it darn near impossible to get every bit of oil out when yer doing a oil change. I don't worry bout it anymore....3 1/2 quarts....new filter....roll on the throttle and ride. Boomer....who sez ya might want to check for vagrant pygmies in the area....them little ankle-biters are known for messing with Yammi's cuz they think Willy G (Harley) is de cats meow. -
I also called the Yammi Dealers in Lafayette and Alexandria regarding this....Policy is iron-clad here in Loozeeanner it seems. Boomer.....who sez East Texas is starting to look better for homesteading.....and wondering how I can sneak the pygmies into Gilley's.

Roger that Larry.....This Site is the best thing we have going for us....not just for info....The true friends I have made here is unlike anything I have ever experienced. Boomer.....who sez the cheesecake and home-cooking by the ladies is nothing to sneer at either!!

So I call the Yammi Dealer in Baton Rouge (Friendly Yamaha; 10939 Airline Highway) and explain to the Service Manager my situation with the pooched fuel pump. She confirmed my VIN Number and that the scoot was still under Warranty. Trade the pooched pump for a new one and save them a bit of time in labor? Not on your life. The scoot has to be brought in and they have to do everything. I have to wonder if the folks at Yammi who set policy really have the customers best interest at heart when it comes to stuff like this. I have NO intention of trailering the scoot there and letting them do anything. Just gives me a bad case of red a$$ and solidifys my decision to keep my 06 and never buy another new scoot from them..... no matter what upgrades/improvements they come out with on the future Ventures. Boomer....who's really gonna dish out a beating to dem pygmies now.

Dave....I really appreciate the offer Bro.....I'm pulling the pooched pump out today....I don't expect UPS to show up with Bubber's spare pump until Mon or tues of next week. Having you out here Fri is not gonna accomplish anything cuz it will all be a waiting game until the spare pump arrives. Boomer.....who sez if a fireball and plume of smoke shows up over Opelousas,La. then you'll know that I pooched up the job BIG TIME.....

Brad....I'm going to pull the pooched fuel pump today. As soon as I get Bubber's pump via UPS I'm going to put it in . Have my fingers crossed that all will work out.....I REALLY WANT TO BE WITH YOU GUYS NEXT WEEK!!! Can't see having anyone come out here tomorrow because nothin can be done until Bubber's pump arrives....and it may be Mon or Tues of next week before THAT happens. Boomer.....sending up prayers and promised the pygmies another beating if things don't work out....

Thanks Bubber....I owe you big time buddy. Today I'll attempt to pull the old fuel pump off the scoot. Kbran is on hot stand-by with his cell phone if I get my fingers stuck....lol I really hope to have the scoot ready and hook up over at Kbrans for the ride up to Don's. Boomer....who sez ya can't put a price on friendship and the folks here prove that every day.

Bubber is shipping me a spare pump tomorrow. I'm going to see also what the Yammi Dealer in Baton Rouge has to say about giving me a new pump. It that gets pooched up I'll go with a after-market pump like Dave Zipcode has posted about. Don't know if I'll have the scoot ready to go by next week for the run to Bogalusa and do the ride with you folks up to Don's. Dang this will be the 3rd year in a row my plans have been pooched for going to Ohio......sigh. Thanks for the info Brad....I'll take your word any day my friend. Boomer....who sez HI to Lonna too!!

Bubber is shipping me a spare fuel pump tomorrow morning ! I still would like to have just a gravity-feed fuel setup tho....heck the big bikes ran for years with that before they started using these electric junk piles. Boomer.....

Is there any valid reason why I can't bypass the fuel pump with a gravity feed setup and leave it like that for good? Midnight Venture-2006. Boomer.....still sitting and fuming over this darn problem.....

Hey Gunboat.....I been using the Purolator PL14610 for the past 42K on my scoot. I buy them through Amazon.com ( 6 at a time) which seems to be the cheapest source. Ride safe my friend. Boomer.....

I gave up riding when my 1st son was born. I wanted to be there for him more so than being on 2 wheels. My 2nd son came 18 months after the first son. There was many a day I would hear bikes roaring by my house and it hurt bad not being able to get out there. When my boys were old enough (teens) to realize how much I had given up for them THEY urged me get back on 2 wheels. I KNOW I could die out there on the asphalt every time I climb on the scoot. It's a risk I am willing to take...I figger if I made it through 3 Combat Tours in Nam then the good Lord really don't want me UP there raising hell in his yard. Go with what your heart feels when you are talking to your wife about this. She is the one who's going to bear the brunt of anything bad happening to you out there on 2 wheels. Folks who claim to be your friends won't be there for you like she will I assure you. IMHO you are not at a point in your life that warrants being selfish and and jumping on 2 wheels regardless of what your wife has expressed to you. Boomer.....who sez ya better value the love of a good woman above all else because they are harder to find than hen's teeth....and I know that very well from experience my friend.

Yep...But good luck with THAT down heah in the flatlands of Loozeeanner. When I was in CT the Dealer was a good friend of mine and his Shop was 8 miles away from me.....Not so the case here in de flatlands.....sigh. Boomer.....hanging tough and the darn pygmies are running for their lives.

I just found the info for the gravity feed set-up. I'm wondering if I can by-pass that fuel pump and use the gravity feed method with an in-line filter as a permanent set-up..... AND....I just went out and fired up the scoot.....the fuel pump is obviously the problem with this intermittment operation.....grrrrrrrrr,,,,,, Boomer.....who's gonna kick a few pygmies now for stress relief.....
