  1. LOL We are the only group that can secure our employment. If it ain't broke upgrade it.
  2. It wasn't I that started you there. But, it was fun throwing in all the little nuances we deal with daily. LOL
  3. Anyone see the idiot in Ohio throwing snow across the 3 opposite sides of the highway. Ohio Turnpike snowplow damages at least 40 vehicles, injures 12 (news5cleveland.com)
  4. I'm going to make it hurt more too. The ALT codes usually only work with a numeric key pad like those on most full size keyboards.
  5. I've heard similar stories from a few friends and they were all shaken. One to the point where he requested permission to speak at schools about this and a few other don'ts that kids should learn regarding city vehicles.
  6. This is brand specific, i.e. Lenovo, Dell and Toshiba do not have this (or at least the ones I have access to). My son's HP does though. In most cases you will see it on the keys if it does.
  7. Yeah, there are a lot of trucks that still use recaps here in the Houston area. Road Gators have been increasing the last few years too. I bout the SVTC in April of 2019 and within 6 months I hit a piece of tire doing 75 that was hiding in a streetlight shadow line. It hit the oil filter and the oil cooling line. Busted the seal on the filter draining all the oil out. Waiting on a tow truck for 90 minutes on a highway that has 15 to 20 lanes of traffic is not fun and not quiet. Luckily, I was in an HOV lane and an area that had a wider berm.
  8. LOL. Yeah the passenger screaming is no help at all. It only interrupts my screaming, swearing and a few other things too.
  9. Same for my home PC. We will be rolling out Windows 11 next year for the Firm.
  10. If you have Windows 11 run system update and install patches. There is a security flaw that affects it and Server 2022. It deals with the HTTP protocol environment that we all use to brows with. This does not affect earlier versions of Windows or Windows server and there are currently no know exploits in the wild. I would recommend everyone update their Windows systems also. Here is the shortest article I could find on it. Wormable Windows 11 vulnerability could let malware spead like wildfire (msn.com)
  11. It's been a few years but I am think about doing it this spring to scout some public land for hunting. First time I went camping with the Scout group here in TX I had to work until after they were leaving. When I showed up on the bike late in the night and setup my little 2 man the boys were all up and stoked. I know of a couple of them that learned to ride an now camp often on bike trips. I've also been thinking about getting some type of adventure bike. Who knows.
  12. Don, This site is a blessing to most but more importantly you are a blessing to all. While we are all praying for your success against this bout of cancer, more importantly we wait for the good news that you have conquered it again. I am on many of the FB groups for the Gen 2 and the Gen 3 but I watch those groups stumble on technical knowledge and fight the constant assault by the negativity. I can't tell you how often I post on FB that someone should come to this site for help. The group here has amazing knowledge on all versions of this bike and are ready and willing to help. That's what makes this the Best site available. Regardless of the bike.
  13. Yeah, that's an important one. 3 months after picking up my used '06 the shifter came off while riding. Let's just say it wasn't terribly dangerous for me when it happened but that initial Oh $#@! moment, well now I can laugh at it.
  14. I cannot answer the direct questions but with some engineering, welding and math skills anything is possible. I was in my mid to late teens and riding a few unsanctioned races on a 125 Kawasaki when I wrecked and broke the forks. With no engineering I was able to replace those with some Honda forks I had. Basically, cut the frames and welded them in place. Made sure the geometry of the forks was 'close enough' with mine and my dad's 'eyechrometers' we got it to work. I actually saved enough money to enter my one and only Pro-Am using that frame (different engine). I came in 4th, so pretty good for some young punk from Northern Ohio.
  15. Never did the resolution thing. We want to wish You and Yours a happy and prosperous New Year.
  16. I put mine on the left but for only one logical reason. My wife can't see the speedometer 🙂.
  17. Last week we were in the upper 30's when I left for work. The last couple of days the lower 70's in the morning. Next week would could see the upper 20's. Still love SE Texas though. It's not 20 below or a bunch of snow.
  18. No one ever wants to hear news like this. Condolences to his Family.
  19. I'm sorry you had family get ill but we should NOT stop travel. We cannot continue to live in fear. Countries are starting to realize this and we are seeing countries like Norway transitioning to treat COVID just like the Flu. Would any of us be afraid to travel or visit our family because we "MAY" get the flu? If you don't feel well, of course stay home but please don't live in fear over covid. Living in constant fear is worse than any covid/flu/cold etc.
  20. LOL. Six years for you, I just started reading it a few months ago. 😁
  21. I am still both envious and frustrated with the 1st gen handle bars. Those were great. The frustration comes in because Yamaha went the cheap route and designed them out of the bike.
  22. Merry Christmas everyone. Get out and ride. I hope everyone gets to enjoy time family and friends.
  23. Even when I was a kid (16 - 17) I test with high Cholesterol. In the 300+ range as a total number. BP has never been a problem. Told the Dr what I was eating and he said to eliminate the eggs and to stop eating red meat. If I did eat red meat to cut off all the fat. Eat more poultry. I did this for 10 years or so and my Cholesterol level barely went below 300 in that time. I was working crazy hours in my late 20's running my own IT business 75+ hours. I stopped all of the 'special' diet stuff. Started eating eggs again and when my family started the whole egg white thing I would eat their yolks. I felt great at that time. In my late 30's I started to travel about 60 - 70% of my time for work. I packed on the lbs. Went from ~210 up to 285. This was my own fault, Restaurant portions were ridiculously large but I had this internal guilt of not finishing my food. I got this from when I was a kid as there were times when we didn't know if we would have food the next day. I worked hard to change this mentality the last year or so and am back to 230 and still working to drop more. the biggest item for me has been portion control not limiting the variety or types of food I eat but the quantity I eat. This is still hard when I travel as Keeping food in a hotel is not the easiest thing. I just box up the left overs. even when traveling. I actually find myself giving the food away to homeless more often than not. Win win. One thing I haven't changed though is I still eat eggs frequently and I eat red meat including the fat. Last year I had my 1st Cholesterol test in ages. It was ~280 but the Dr said I had nearly a 3.5:1 ratio of good vs bad Cholesterol which is a good thing. I didn't know the difference but as he described it the HDL levels are the grease that helps the body run well. He said the fat of beef and pork at actually contributing factors to HDL and the medical community only began to realize this in the last 15 years or so. He said the HDL works like grease in the blood system to help prevent blockage and clotting of the arteries. He's the one who told me to keep doing what I was doing. I'm also a big fan of open grazed beef. I go in every year with a buddy and we buy a steer or heifer. He is afraid of organ meat so I always keep the liver and the heart for myself. Love liver and onions. We will keep doing this too. We just took 'T-Bone' to the butcher as our freezer is a little low. On the other stuff: I like sauerkraut but haven't had it in years. I avoid margarine and stick to pure butters when at all possible. I always get eel when I go out for sushi. I eat a lot of cheeses and yes I still eat a lot of poultry. I never knew anything about K2 until I read this. It's something to keep in mind now that I'm getting older.
  24. That's pretty cool. The orange trees I've seen here in Houston produce a pretty bitter fruit. Most of the home owners stay away from them or only use them for the zest of the peel. The lemon trees though are great. Unfortunately where I live out lot is too small for any type of ground garden. Our back yard has a pool and a gazebo. add bushes and a few trees and it's packed. Been naggin the wife to get somewhere where we can have some land but the $$$ is ridiculous.
  25. 39 degrees when I left the house this morning. 41 when I got to the office. Love the heated seat and grips.
